Charity Christmas Party and Fun with English FREE Class

Place: Miran Hall  (Chitosekarasuyama Station on the Keio Line)

6:30 – 7:30PM – Fun English Conversation (What is Christmas? Tell your own fun Christmas Story)
7:45 – 10:30 – Party and Gift Exchange
David will meet people at the North Exit (of the East ticket gate) at 6:25PM and again at 7:40PM. Or you can go to the Miran Hall directly.

Party Fee: 2000 yen includes sandwiches, snacks, wine, and soft drinks.

To go to Miran Hall, go out the North Exit (at the East ticket gate) of Chitosekarasuyama Station, Turn right and walk along the railroad tracks (DO NOT CROSS the tracks). The tracks should be on your right.  In about 1 minute, you’ll come to a stairway on the outside of a barber shop which goes up to Miran Hall.  If you can’t find it, please call 3300-0912 or 080-6546-7688 for directions.
      
This is a Kris Kringle Party.  People who want to participate in the gift exchange, please bring a recycled present or new present worth about ￥1000 and participants exchange the gifts with each other.
 
Proceeds from the entrance fee will be donated to Save the Children and Ashinaga (Support for Tohoku Orphans), and used to pay for the hall, food, and drink.

9:30AM – 2:30PM

We meet at 9:25AM at the front main entrance of Tama Zoo’s Station (Tama Dobutsukoen).
Take the 8:40AM Keio Line Semi-express from Shinjuku to Takahatafudo (arriving at 9:13AM) and change to the Keio Dobutsu Koen Line train, leaving Takahatafudo at 9:17 and arriving at Tama Dobutsu Koen Station  at 9:20AM.

If you would like to participate, please inform David by December 12 so that we can get volunteer insurance. If you join this event, please bring the following: Long sleeved shirt and long pants (not shorts), work gloves, towel, and appropriate shoes (trekking shoes or hiking boots) are required.

Please bring whatever you want to eat for lunch, and drinks during the work project.

From 6:30-9:30pm at the Polygon (behind the Oriental Bazaar on Omotesando) For JAMBO members, the cost is 3,500 yen for men and 3,000 yen for women w/reservation (foreigners get a 1000 yen discount)(or plus 500 yen if you go directly without making a reservation). All beer, wine, cocktails, soft drinks + sushi buffet, garden salad, veggies, cheeses, breads, and pies for dessert included.

If you’d like to go from Shinjuku, get on the front of the 7:51 Odakyu Line train at Shinjuku Station.
David will get on the first car at the next station (Yoyogi Uehara).
 
The total course time for the hike will be about 4 hours.

As we will go to a Hot Springs after the hike, please bring a change of clothes and a towel!
 
Please bring your lunch and drinks.

Famous for its maple trees!!

We will have a 5-6 hour walk up a few small mountains and into a gorge.
 
Course: Ogawamachi Station→ Mt. Sengen→Shiro-yama→Mt. Monomi→Ranzan Gorge→Mt. Ohira→MusashiRanzan Station
 
From Ikebukuro, take the  Tobu Tojo (Express) Line’s 8:42AM train and get off at Ogawamachi Station, arriving at 9:52AM. Make sure to get on this train as we cannot wait for the next one.
 
People going from Ikebukuro Station can meet at the front end of the train on the Tobu Tojo Line platform at 8:42, or meet at Ogawamachi Station’s ticket gate at 9:54. 
 
Please wear appropriate shoes (tennis shoes, hiking boots), bring a lunch and plenty of liquids.

We will meet at the west ticket gate of Kamakura　Station (on the Yokosuka/JRShounanShijuku Line) at 10:16AM.　From Yokohama Station, take the 9:49AM JRShounanShinjuku Line train (towards Zushi). This arrives at Kamakura at 10:14AM.
 
If you’d like to go with David, please meet at the front of the JRShounanShinjuku Line train at Yokohama Station at 9:49AM.

Hiking Course:  Kamakura Staion – HaseDera Temple – Great Buddha Hiking Course – GenshiYama Park – Kewaizaka Slope – TsuruokaHachimanguu Temple – Kamakura Station 

This is a 7 Km walk with about 4 hours walking time.

The selected temples and park are well-known for the maples and Ginko trees which should be in full color!!!

(Moderately Easy)
Bring appropriate walking shoes, food for lunch and drinks.
Meeting Place/Time: JR Gotemba Line’s Yaga Station Ticket Gate at 10:15AM
Take the following trains:
• Shinjuku Station (Odakyu Line Express going towards Fujisawa) 8:21AM – SagamiOono Station (arriving at 8:59)
• SagamiOono (Odakyu Line Express going towards Odawara) – 9:03 Departure, arriving at ShinMatsuda at 9:43
• Matsuda Station JR Gotemba Line (9:59 Departure) – Yaga Station (10:14)
DEFINITELY arrive at this time (since we cannot wait for the next train since they run infrequently)!
If you’d like to go from Shinjuku, get on the front of the 8:21 Odakyu Line train at Shinjuku Station. Leszek will get on the first car at Shimokitazawa.

Walking Time: About five and a half hours
Course: Yaga Station – Mt. Ohno – Shasui Waterfall – Yamakita Station and Hot Springs
This course includes the Shasui Waterfall, one of Japan’s top 100 waterfalls.

Environmental Restoration Project with Friends of the Earth

Those who wish to go with David, please meet at Hino Station (on the Chuo Line) ticket gate at 9:40. We will take the 9:46 bus from there (15 minutes).

We’ll not only go up Mt. Takao, but also take a walk along Koshukaido (a major road lined with 4km of around 770 yellow Ginko trees) from Takao Station (about 3-4 hours walking altogether).
