13:00 – 14:00 – Ooyoko Canal Cherry Blossom walk, Fukagawa Shrine

15:00 – 17:00 – Koto Ward “Full of Cherry Blossoms” Sumida River and Ecchuujima Park Walk

Meet at the ticket gate of Higashi-akiru Station (on the Itsukaichi Line) at 10:37AM.
  
From Shinjuku, take the Chuo Line (Express going towards Takao) at 9:38 , arriving at Tachikawa Station at 10:12AM.  Change to the 10:15 Oume Line train (which changes into the JR Itsukaichi line at Haijima), arriving at Higashi-akiru Station at 10:35.
David will get on the front of the Chuo Line train at Nakano at 9:42AM.

(Bring your own beverages and lunch box)

We will meet at the Chichibu Railway’s BushuuNakagawa Station’s ticket gate at 10:10AM or on the front car of the Seibu Ikebukuro Line at Ikebukuro Station at 8:05AM. Take the 8:05AM Seibu Ikebukuro Line express train (going towards MitsumineGuchi) at Ikebukuro Station. This arrives at Chichibu Station at 9:48 and becomes the Chichibu Railway. Stay on this train, leaving at 9:57 and arriving at BushuuNakagawa Station at 10:07. Be sure to arrive by this time since we will be unable to wait for the next train.

Actual walking time is about 4.5 hours.

We will meet at the east ticket gate of Kita Kamakura Station (on the Yokosuka Line) at 9:40AM. From Yokohama Station, take the 9:18AM JRShounanShinjuku Line train (towards Zushi). This arrives at KitaKamakura at 9:38AM.
 
If you’d like to go with David, please meet at the front of the JRShounanShinjuku Line train at Yokohama Station at 9:18AM.

Hiking Course:  Kita Kamakura – Tokeiji Temple – Jochiji Temple – Kaizoji – Meigetsuin – Ten-en Hiking Course – Kamakura Station 
The selected temples and shrine are well-known for the Fringed Iris and Magnolia blooming this season!!!

After the hike, we will go to a BYO Party in a large, 11F riverside apt. in Tsurumi, where David’s friend Clyde lives. We will have a lot of fun there. Party fee – 500 yen (includes veggies, meat, fish for the BBQ).
If you’re only joining the party (not the hike), meet at the JR Tsurumi east exit ticket gate at 4:50PM

We will meet at the Odakyu Line West Exit at Odawara at 10:47 AM.
9:11  Depart Shinjuku on the Odakyu Line (Express going towards Odawara) and get off at Odawara (arriving at 10:45). 
If you’d like to go from Shinjuku, get on the front of the 9:11 Odakyu Line train at Shinjuku Station. David will get on the first car at the next station (Yoyogi Uehara).

Enjoy walking in the parks and green paths in the Tama area!
 
Meet at the Keio Line’s TamaSakai Station’s ticket gate at 10:53AM.
Take the Keio Express (going towards Hashimoto) from Shinjuku Station at 10:09AM and change to the Keio local line (going towards Hashimoto) at MinamiOosawa (arriving at 10:42 and departing at 10:49).  Take this to TamaSakai, arriving at 10:51.
 
If you’d like to go from Shinjuku, David and others will be on the front of the 10:09 Keio Line train at Shinjuku Station.
 
Course: TamaSakai Station – KomatsuUchiura Park – One Green Path – NagaIke Park – Minami Oosawa (with it’s Spanish building atmosphere) – Minami Oosawa Station It’s a fairly easy 3.5 hour hike with a lot of greenery.

We will have a 4 hour hike up a small mountain and into a gorge.
 
Course: MusashiRanzan Station – Mt. Ohira – Ranzan Gorge – Toki River Swim & fun – MusashiRanzan Station
 
From Ikebukuro, take the  Tobu Tojo (Express) Line’s 9:07AM train and get off at Ogawamachi Station, arriving at 10:19AM. Change here to the local train going the same direction towards Yorii, getting on the 10:22 train which arrives at Tobu Takesawa Station at 10:26AM. Make sure to get on this train as we cannot wait for the next one.
 
People going from Ikebukuro Station can meet at the front end of the train on the Tobu Tojo Line platform at 9:07, or meet at Tobu Takesawa Station’s ticket gate at 10:28. 
 
Please wear appropriate shoes (tennis shoes, hiking boots), bring a lunch and plenty of liquids、and a swimsuit if you want to swim.

Meeting Place/Time: Yanagawa Station Ticket Gate at 10:15AM   We will relax on the Yanagawa River.  You can stroll along the river and swim into a gorge, so bring your swimsuit and towel. After that, we will go back to Takao Station, hike up Mt. Takao and go to the Beer Garden there.
Please bring your lunch and drink.

For those only joining in the afternoon, meet at the JR Line Takao Station North ticket gate at 14:23 (participation fee – 500 yen).  We’ll hike up Mt. Takao from there and hit the Mt. Takao Beer Garden at about 4:30PM. (3300 yen for men and 3000 yen for women – all you can eat and drink for 2 hours)

We’ll not only go up Mt. Takao, but also take a walk along Koshukaido (a major road lined with 4km of around 770 yellow Ginko trees) from Takao Station (about 3-4 hours walking altogether).

Enjoy hiking in the woods while having views of the surrounding Tokyo!

Meet at the Odayuu Line’s Yomiuri Land Mae Station at 11:13AM. Take the Odakyu Express (Kyuukou) from Shinjuku Station at 10:41AM and change to the Odakyuu Local line at Mukougaokayuuen (arriving at 11:02 and departing at 11:07).  Take this to Yomiuri Land Mae, arriving at 11:11AM. 

This hiking course passes by several temples and shrines, a nice wooded area, a Japanese garden, a “Fruits Park” and a lot of greenery. It’s a fairly easy 3.5 hour hike ending up at Tamagawa Station on the Keio Line.

Bring your own beverages and lunch box and backpack.

Please wear comfortable hiking shoes/boots.

Burn off that beer gut DAY (and then put it back on)!  Feel free to join either hike or both hikes (1000 yen for doing both so you can get twice as much for your money and enjoy more by making it a day) and/or the hot springs afterwards for a New Year Party with JAMBO!!!

TANZAWA HIKING BIG DAY (Part 1) (Easy Course)
(1000 yen Participation Fee for morning and afternoon, or just one part) (We go even if it rains)

Today’s hiking has two parts. Both parts are about 3 hour hikes. Feel free to do either hike, both hikes, or simply the hot springs at the end.

We meet at Shibusawa Station at 8:59AM. Take the 7:41AM Odakyuu Line Express train from Shinjuku Station. This arrives at Shibusawa Station at 8:57.  Meet at the ticket gate. Or, if you’d like to go with others from Shinjuku, get on the front of the 7:41 Odakyu Line express train at Shinjuku Station. David will get on the first car at the next station (Yoyogi Uehara). Be sure to arrive by this time since we will be unable to wait for the next train. From here, we hike up into the Shibusawa Hills and Mt. Asama, then down to Hadano Station, where we will meet other people who are joining for the 2nd hike.

Please wear appropriate shoes (tennis shoes, hiking boots), bring a lunch to eat on the mountain, and plenty of liquids.

TANZAWA Hiking (Part 2)
(1000 yen Participation Fee) (We go even if it rains)

Meeting Place and Time: The ticket gate of Hadano Station (on the Odakyuu Line) at 12:15PM (For those going there from Shinjuku, board the 11:01AM Odakyuu Line train at Shinjuku. This arrives in Hadano at 12:12.

Hiking Course (3 hours walking): Hatano Satation- Mt. Gongen- Mt.Koubou- Mt Azuma –Sazanka Onsen…

Both hikes are appropriate for children.

HOT SPRINGS!!! (Part 3)
(We’ll go even if it rains)

For you lazy people who just want to enjoy a hot springs and a New Year’s Party, we will meet at the Super Hot Springs (a 5 minute walk from the Odakyuu Line’s Tokai-daigaku-mae Station) at around 17:00 to do just this. From Uenohara we take the bus to Arai. Then we climb over the top of No-Dake (542m) to the top of Yae-Yama. After lunch, to bus stop Ohori, then bus to Uenohara and with JR-Chuo line to Shinjuku.

Sayama Lake is one of the top 100 man-made (damned) lakes in Japan. It lies within the Sayama Nature Park, which has about 20,000 cherry trees, so the Ohanami should be especially enjoyable!!!

We will ride through a shopping area and some parks from Mitaka station, and can shop for the afternoon’s picnic at a supermarket in Musashi Sakai and a Co-op. Then, we coninue along the Nogawa River, to a Kokubunji natural spring park, and on to Musashi Kokubunji Park, where we’ll hang out, eat and drink, take a walk, play frisbee, etc. http://bit.ly/1E7GqsD

For people who need to rent a bicycle, please come to Mitaka Station’s south exit Police box at 9:30. Hiro will meet you there and go to Susuzake Bicycle Rental: http://www.mitaka.ne.jp/machidukuri/rentalcycle/index.html to rent bikes. The cost is ¥300 /day and the number of bicycles is limited, so please do not come late.

If you have your bicycle – we meet at 10:00am at Mitaka Station south exit Police Box.

Latecomers can come to the picnic at Musashi Kokubunji Park anytime from 12:30. It’s a 7 minute walk from NishiKokubunji Station (on the JR Chuo Line).

Please bring snacks and foods for the picnic and drinks (you can also buy them at a store near the station) as well as all kinds of park toys: balls, frisbees, unicycles, juggling balls, badminton rackets, inflatable sumo suits, foam swords and squirt guns. For riders, helmets are recommended.

Bring food for lunch and drinks.

We will go to Arasaki on the Miura Peninsula. This is a coastline hike with nice sea views, beaches and caves. We will meet at Misakiguchi station on the Keihin Kyuko (Keikyuu) Line at 9:30AM. From Shinagawa station, take the 8:18AM Keihin Kyuko Line train bound for Kurihama. Get off at Kurihama station at 9:11 and change to the 9:17 Keikyuu line going towards Misakiguchi. Get off at the last station (Misakiguchi). It arrives there at 9:29AM. This is an easy hike, so bring a plastic bag and we’ll pick up garbage on Nagahama Beach (at the end of the coastal walk.
 
Meet at the ticket gate of MisakiGuchi station on the Keihin Kyuko line at 9:30AM or Shinagawa station (meet in the front car of the Keihin Kyuko 8:18 train (David will already be in that car).

We will take the 9:43 bus from Misakiguchi to Arasaki (about 15-20 minutes)
 
David will also bring many garbage bags, received in cooperation with the Kanagawa “Beautify the Oceans” Foundation

(Participation Fee 1000 yen (includes Sunday) + 500 yen Camping Fee)

We will go out to Tadara Beach (Beach on the Tokyo Bay near Tomiura Station) on Saturday night.  We can watch the sunset (since the beach faces west) and then eat, drink and enjoy the beach that night as well as the next day. 
 
Please bring your swimsuit, sleeping bag and tent (you can sleep directly on the sand, but may get eaten up by sand flies), beach toys, food and drink. There is a supermarket near the station where we can buy drinks and food, however the food selection may be limited.
 
Train Schedule (Saturday)
 
15:14 Leave Chiba Station on the Uchibo Line (Local)
16:55 – Arrive at Tomiura Station
 
You can meet David and others on the front of the Uchibo Line train at the ticket gate at Tomiura Station at 16:57.

Train Schedule
 
9:04 – Leave Chiba Station on the Uchibo Line (Local)
10:47  –   Arrive at Tomiura Station (David & others will be waiting at the ticket gate)

The hike will be Tomiura Station – Hokkezaki Peninsula –  Tatara Coast – Daibusami Peninsula Green Road and Park – Observation Point – Tadara Beach
After the hike, we’ll enjoy time on the beach.

The walking time is about 3.5 hours.

Please bring your own food and plenty to drink. We’ll finish at the Tama River and enjoy some river fun, so bring your swimsuit as well.
Meet at the ticket gate of Kawai Station (on the Oume Line) at 10:35 AM.
Take the Chuo/Oume Line express train (going towards Oume) at 9:09 from Shinjuku, arriving at Oume Station at 10:07. Change to the 10:09 Oume line train (going towards Okutama). This arrives at Kawai Station at 10:32.

David will get on the front of the Chuo Line train at Nakano Station at 9:13AM.

Course: Kawai Station – Mt. Zumado – Kori Station – Kawai Station (by train) – Kawai Station area Walking and River fun – Kawai Station

Walking Time: about 3 hours

We meet at Miyanohira Station at 10:15AM. Take the 9:09AM Oume Line  Express train (it’s a Chuo Line train that goes all the way to Oume) from Shinjuku Station. This arrives at Ome Station at 10:07.  Go across the platform and take the 10:09 train towards Okutama. This train arrives at MiyanoHira Station at 10:12. Be sure to arrive by this time since we will be unable to wait for the next train.
 
Meet on the front of the 9:09 train at Shinjuku if you want to go from there there. David will get on the first car of the same train at Nakano Station.
 
Hiking Course – Miya no Hira Station – Oume Ridge Hiking Course – Shiofune Goddess of Mercy & KasumiKyuuryou Nature Park (22,000 Spider Lillies) – Kama no Fuchi Park (swim on the Tama River) – Oume Station

Today’s hiking is about 4 hours. 
 
Please wear appropriate shoes (tennis shoes, hiking boots), bring a lunch to eat on the mountain, and plenty of liquids.

From Shinjuku, take the Special Holiday Express train going towards Okutama (it’s the Chuo Line but may be on another track which is not the main Chuo Line track – BE CAREFUL!) to Okutama (leaving Shinjuku at 8:19 and arriving at Okutama at 9:51). 

David will be at the Okutama Station ticket gate at 10:00 to bring you to the supermarket (where you can get food and drink) and the river. We’ll hang out on the river for a while, and then go for a hike, swimming here and there along the way.

COURSE: Okutama Station – Tama River – Mt. Atago – Shiromaru Dam – Hatonosu Gorge – Hatonosu Station

 Please bring your lunch and drinks.
