From Uenohara we take the bus to Arai. Then we climb over the top of No-Dake (542m) to the top of Yae-Yama. After lunch, to bus stop Ohori, then bus to Uenohara and with JR-Chuo line to Shinjuku.

1) Walk in Omiya Bonsai Village

(Easy Course) (Cancelled in case of heavy rain)(¥1000 Participation Fee)

Multiple bonsai nurseries are situated along the district’s peaceful paths. Private houses in the area typically have a collection of bonsai in their gardens. We also visit the birthplace of manga museums.

☆Meeting Time/Place: 10:30 Tobu Noda Line Omiya-koen Station

☆Course (about 2 hours):

Tobu Noda Line Omiya-koen Station → Picture of Manga Hall → Fuyo-en → Kyuka-en → Seikou-en → Bonsai House of the Four Seasons → Toju-en →Mansei-en → JR Tohoku Main Line Toro Station

☆Walking Time: About 1 hour (about 4km) plus a lot of time for sightseeing so the walk should take about 2 hours.

☆The program is ¥1000.

Meeting Place and time: 10:04 am at Utsugidai Bus Stop

Those who wish to go with David, please meet at Hino Station (on the Chuo Line) ticket gate at 9:40. We will take the 9:46 bus from there (18 minutes).

Please wear long pants and long-sleeved shirt and exercise shoes.
Please bring your own drinks, food (for lunch) and work gloves.

3) Arakawa River Clean Up

Details

Gather at Funabori Station: 13:00
Go to the river 13:10
River Clean Up: 13:30-16:30
Relaxing riverside: 16:30-17:00
Return to station by Car: 17:00-17:15

RIVER CLEAN UP

Gather at FUNABORI Station (Shinjuku Line) outside the ticket gate at 13:00, and then go to the Arakawa River and pick up trash along the river bank for about about 3 to 3 and half hours.

TARGET AREA

We will clean the backside of the Nakade roughly between the Funabori Bridge and the Nishi Kasai Bridge.

MORNING SESSION (optional)

As I will be on the river in the morning doing some scouting and

precleaning, people, who may not be free in the afternoon, are welcome to join me at that time. Please go directly to the river as well as call James (the organizer) (090-1847-5075) to coordinate a meeting place.

INFO:

If you come late, it will be about a 25-min walk to our location on the

river at the waterline between the Shinjuku Line train bridge and the

Kasaibashi Bridge. Also call James cell phone 090-1847-5075 if there are any problems finding us.

RAIN:

In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled as we will use rain ware and take cover as necessary. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds (e.g., typhoon conditions) or lightning then the event will be cancelled or stopped if already in progress.
