Meshimoriyama Hiking

The 1640m high mountain boasts abundant colorful alpine plants. Its’s suitable for beginners.

☆Train: If you are coming from Tokyo, take the JR Chuo Line (Limited Express Azusa 1) train from Shinjuku Station. This arrives at Kobuchizawa Station at 8:53. Take the JR Yatsugatake Kogen Ressha 1 train at 9:18. This arrives at Nobeyama Station at 15:38. This arrives at at Kobuchizawa Station at 16:08 Take the JR Chuo Line (Limited Express Azusa 78) train at 16:14. This arrives at Shinjuku Station at 18:29.

☆Train: If you are going back to Tokyo, take the 15:38 JR Koumi Line train from Nobeyama Station. This arrives at Asakusa Station at 16:45.

☆Walking Time: About 4 hours (around 10km) plus a lot of time for sightseeing so the walk should take 5.5 hours.

1) Yanagawa River Swimming
(River Fun) (FREE)(Cancelled in case of rain)

Meeting Time/Place: Yanagawa Station Ticket Gate at 11:35 am

Trains are not running frequently and we can’t wait for the next train.  Please come by the appointed time as we won’t be able to attend to latecomers.

Train:  (for those coming from Takao) 11:09 Takao Departure on the Chuo Line (towards Kofu),  11:33 Arrive at Yanagawa Station

Yanagawa has a nice gorge that you can swim into. Or you can simply hang out on the riverside, have some eats and drinks, wade a bit and take a stroll along the bank. Also, there is a hiking course nearby for anyone
who wants to hike a bit.

Please bring your lunch and drink. You are welcome to leave anytime.

 

2) Tamagawa River Clean Up

Gather at Daishibashi Station: 14:30
River Clean Up: 15:00-18:00
Return to station: 18:30

RIVER CLEAN UP
Gather at DAISHIBASHI Station (Keikyudashi Line) outside the 
only
ticket gate at 14:00, and then go to the Tamagawa River and pick
 up
trash along the banks for about 3-3.5 hours with a break in the 
middle.

WHAT TO BRING
Wear old clothing that you do not mind getting dirty, and please wea
r
long pants. Bare legs are not recommended because they can easily
get
cut from objects like cut river reeds. Also, a hat is recommended,
especially during the summer months, and please bring lots of liquids
to 
drink. Bringing gloves is also recommended but we usually have
some
extra pairs available to loan out. Then please come with proper
footwear
 or not sandals and so on.

ADDITIONAL INFO
If you come late, it will be about a 25-min walk to our location at
the
 river which may vary month by month. Call James (the organizer)

RAIN
In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled.
Please bring rain gear and we will take shelter (under a bridge) until
any downpours let up. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds
(e.g.,
typhoon conditions) or lightning then the event will be
cancelled
 (and 
usually moved to a different day).

1) Wildflower Park/Traditional Japanese House Experience & River Swim
(Participation Fee 1000 yen)(Easy Course) (Will go ahead even if light rain)

Meeting Place/Time: Mitake Station ticket gate at 9:57 am

Train: Take the 9:38 express train from Oume (going towards Okutama). This arrives at Mitake at 9:55.

Optional Activities:
– Learn about the Mitake Eco Project (regenerate a Wildflower Park)
– Hike (or take a cable car) up to the famous Mitake Shrine
– Picnic (BRING YOUR OWN FOOD AND DRINK) with a group of fun people
– Rope handling and knot tying lessons
– Swim in the Tama River

Bring lunch and drinks (for picnic lunch) since there is no store that sells food and snack near Mitake station, as well as a swimsuit and towel (for those who want to swim).

The participation fee will be donated to Mirai-no-mori (empowering marginalized youth in the outdoors).

Meeting Place/Time: Hanno Station ticket gate at 10:40 am

Train: If you are going from Ikebukuro, take the Seibu Ikebukuro (Express) Line’s 9:50 train and get off at Hanno Station, arriving there at 10:38.

Course: Hanno Station – Mt. Tenran – Mt. Tonosu – Iruma River (swimming
& river fun) – Hanno Station

Walking time: About 3.5 hours

Please come in shoes suitable for hiking.  Bring lunch and drinks, as well as a swimsuit and towel (for those who want to swim).

Edogawa River Clean Up

Organized by Tokyo River Friends

Gather at Myoden Station: 14:30
Riverside Meetup: 15:00
Return to station: 18:30

RIVER CLEAN UP:
Gather at Myoden Station (Tozai Line) outside the only ticket gate, and
then go to the Edogawa River and pick up trash along the banks for about
3.5 to 4 hours.

INFO:
If you come late, it will be about a 25-min walk to our location between
the Bay front bridges and the New Myoden Bridge. From the station, walk
to the new Myoden Bridge, cross the river, and then along the river bank
until between the two bridges and look for us at the water line. Also
call James’ (the organizer) cell phone 090-1847-5075 if there are any
problems finding us.

RAIN:
In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled as
we will move to and from the river by car and we can clean up under
cover the bay front bridges as a Plan B as well as adjacent areas using
rain ware. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds (e.g., typhoon
conditions) or lightning then the event will be cancelled.

Akigawa Hiking & Swimming

Today’s hike & swim is on. In the area we go to, light rain is not expected until 6〜8 pm.

(1000 yen Participation Fee) (Not Difficult) (Cancelled in case of rain)

Meeting place and time: 10:40 am at the ticket gate of JR Musashi-Itsukaichi Station (the last stop of the Itsukaichi Line)

Train: Haijima Departure (JR Itsukaichi Line) – 10:20, Musashi-Itsukaichi (the last stop) Arrival – 10:37

Course: Musashi-Itsukaichi Station – Mt. Konpira – hoshitake Line
 – Akigawa River (we will swim and play along the river as we walk
back to the station (along road and river) – Musashi-Itsukaichi Station

Walking Time: About 4 hours

Bring lunch and drinks and your swimsuit if you want to swim.
