Those who wish to go with David, please meet at Hino Station (on the Chuo Line) ticket gate at 9:25. We will take the 9:30 bus from there (15 minutes).

Work hours: 10:00 – 15:30
 (Cutting down bamboo grass, clearing/carrying logs, splitting wood)

Please wear long pants and long-sleeved shirt and exercise shoes.

bring your own drinks, food (for lunch) and work gloves.

1) Okutama Hiking

★For this hike, we can’t accommodate latecomers since there is only one train running every 30 – 35 minutes.  We will start hiking as scheduled.

★There are no stores near the station, so please be sure to bring your own lunch.

Train: Oume departure 9:14 ⇒ Miyanohira arrival 9:17
(Make sure to be on this train as we cannot wait for the next one)

Course: Miyanohira Station – Tengu Rock (Beautiful Views) – Akabokko – Kyuu-Futatsuzuka Pass – Oume Station

The course should take about 5 hours.

Please wear appropriate shoes for a hike.

2) Tama River Clean Up
Organized by Tokyo River Friends

Gather at Kojimashinden Station (ticket gate): 13:00
River Clean Up: 13:30
Return to station 17:00

RIVER CLEAN UP

and then go to the Tamagawa River and pick up trash along the
banks
 for
 about 3.5 to 4 hours.

 or near the new Tamagawa Sky Bridge (But walk straight to the
river
 first as there is no access from the bridge.) Also call

RAIN
In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled
as
 we will move to and from the river by car and we can clean up
under
 cover the bay front bridges as a Plan B as well as adjacent

rain ware. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds
(e.g.,
typhoon
 conditions) or lightning then the event will be cancelled.

Let’s visit an Instagrammable botanical garden with Halloween decorations. There well be pumpkins everywhere. Red ink stamps are available on the way.

Train: If you are coming from Shinagawa, Shinagawa Station departure (Keikyu line express going towards Misakiguchi) 8:57 – Oppama (arrival) 9:40

Course: Oppama Station → Kaminari Shrine → Goddess of Mercy Temple → Enokido Harbor (nice walking course) → Oppama Station (12:00) → Takatoriyama Park → Jinmuji Temple → Jinmuji Station (about 4 hours)

This course has many historical spots as well as beautiful views of the yacht harbor and rock
walls.

Takatori Course (afternoon part)
 Only in Japanese.

Train: Kita-senju Station on Tobu Isesaki Line Express Departure 9:46 – Minami-Kurihashi Station Arrival 10:35

Hiking Course : Minami-kurihashi Station – Takasuka Pond – Gongendo Park Festival (3,000,000 Spider Lillies) –  Satte City Historical Buildings walk – Satte Station

This hiking is about 4 hours (10 km) with a lot of fun mixed in.

Please bring your lunch and drink.

2) Arakawa River Clean Up
Organized by Tokyo River Friends

TRF will be joining World Cleanup Day again this year. To coincide with
the official UN‑designated International WCD on September 20, we will be
holding an additional cleanup session along the Arakawa River.
We warmly
invite you to take part in this global effort to make our world a little
cleaner, together with people around the world who support WCD.

gate, and then go to the Arakawa River and pick up trash along the banks
for about about 3.5 to 4 hours with a break in the middle

WHAT TO BRING
Wear old clothing that you do not mind getting dirty, and please wear
long pants. Bare legs are not recommended because they can easily get
cut from objects like cut river reeds. Also, a hat is recommended,
especially during the summer months, and please bring lots of liquids to
drink. Bringing gloves is also recommended but we usually have some
extra pairs available to loan out. Then please come with proper footwear
or not sandals and so on.

ADDITIONAL INFO
If you come late, it will be about a 25 min. walk to our location on
the island under the elevated C2 highway between the Kasaibashi Bridge
iand the Shinjuku Line train bridge but much closer to the Shinjjuk Line
Bridge. Call James’ (the organizer) cell phone (090-1847-5075) if there
are any problems finding us.

RAIN
In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled.
Please bring rain gear and we will take shelter (under a bridge) until
any downpours let up. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds (e.g.,
typhoon conditions) or lightning then the event will be cancelled (and
usually moved to a different day).

The 1640m high mountain boasts abundant colorful alpine plants. Its’s suitable for beginners.

Take the JR Chuo Line (Limited Express Azusa 78) train at 16:14. This arrives at Shinjuku Station at 18:29.

☆Train: If you are going back to Tokyo, take the 13:53 JR Koumi Line train from Nobeyama Station. This arrives at Kobuchizawa Station at 14:24. Take the JR Chuo Line (Limited Express Azusa 34) at 14:30. This arrives at Shinjuku at 16:28.

*Azusa 1 is already full on that day so please add to buy and use an unreserved seat ticket.

☆Walking Time: About 2 and a half hours (around 4km) plus a lot of time for sightseeing so the walk should take 3hours.
