Mt. Kuki Hiking Course (A bit difficult, 970m)

Kasei Station (Fuji Kyuko Line)- Mt. Fuji Lookout – Mt. Kuki – Mt. Gozen – Sarubashi Station (Chuo Line)

Take the Chuo Line (Special Express) at 7:35AM from Shinjuku Station (going towards Takao). This arrives at Takao at 8:18. Change at Takao Station to the Chuo Line (going towards Kofu), leaving at 8:20. Take this to Ootsuki Station, arriving at 8:57AM. At Otsuki, change to the Fuji Kyuko Line (towards Kawaguchi-ko) and take the 9:02 train, which arrives at Kasei Station at 9:12. The Chuo Line cost comes to 1280 yen and the Fuji Kyuko Line costs 290 yen.

Meeting Place/Time: Kasei Station (Fuji Kyuko Line) Ticket Gate 9:15AM

Meet on the front of the 7:35 Chuo Line train at Shinjuku if you want to go from there there. David will get on the first car of the same train at Nakano Station.

Walking time: about 6 hours

3/13 (Sunday) – Okutama Hike & the famous Yoshino Plum Blossom Park (¥500 Participation Fee) (Bring your own beverages and lunch box) (Cancelled in case of rain)(A bit difficult)

Meet at the JR Ohme Line’s Kori Station’s Ticket Gate at 9:30 am. From Shinjuku, take the Chuo Line Special Express
at 7:52 to Tachikawa (arriving at 8:17) and change here for the Oume Line, leaving Tachikawa at 8:20 and arriving at Oume Station at 8:55AM. Change here to the Oume Line (local) leaving at 8:56 and arriving at Kori Station at 9:26AM. Be sure to arrive on this train as we will be unable to wait for the next one. A part of the train leaving from Shinjuku may go all the way to Ome, so please check there (in which case there would be no need to transfer at Tachikawa).

If you want to ride on the train with others, please get on the front car at Shinjuku Station (David will get on that same train at Mitaka Station.)

The hike will be Kori Station – Mt. Ootsuka – Mitake Shrine -Mt. Mitake -Mt. Hinode – Yoshino Plum Park (near Hinatawada Station).

The hiking time is about 6 hours, but if you get tired, you can hike about 3 hours, then take a cable car and train to Yoshino Plum Park. This hike as spectacular scenery and ends up at Yoshino Plum Blossom Park (ranked number 1 amongst 90 national plum blossom parks throughout Japan). Please see:

Be sure to arrive on this train as we will be unable to wait for the next one.

The hike will be Okutama Station – Anjizawa – Mt. Honida – Mt. Kobutaka – Mt. One Shrine – Hatonosu Station

The hiking time is about 5 hours.

As we will go to a Hot Springs after the hike, please bring a change of clothes and a towel if you’d like to join!

We will meet at the Odakyu Line Ticket Gate at Odawara at 9:48 AM.
8:18  Depart Shinjuku on the Odakyu Line (Special Express going towards Enoshima) and get off at SagamiOno (arriving at 8:50).  Change to the 8:51 express train going towards Odawara.  This arrives at Odawara at 9:46.
If you’d like to go from Shinjuku, get on the front of the 8:18 Odakyu Line train at Shinjuku Station.
David will get on the first car at the next station (Yoyogi Uehara).
Course:  Odawara Station – Ikoi Forest – Oohatake Goddess of Mercy – Kyofuku Temple – Sakawa Beach (Garbage clean-up and fun) – Odawara Station
The total walking time for the hike will be about 4 hours.

Course: Sasago Station – Mt. Takigo – Hatsukari Station

From the top of the mountain, we have a 360 degree panoramic view, including beautiful Mt. Fuji.

Meeting Place and Time: On the front car of the Keio Line train at Shinjuku at 7:45 or at Sasago ticket gate at 9:35. (Leszek will get on the train from Meidaimae station)

We leave Shinjuku on the 7:49 Keio Line train, arriving at Takao at 8:39. We’ll change trains there to the Chuo Line, getting on the 8:44 train and arriving at Sasago Station at 9:32AM. 

From Sasago Station (leaving around 10:00AM), it’s about 6 hours of walking (plus rest time and lunch time)!

One of Top 200 Famous Mountain Hiking Course!!! New JAMBO Course!

500 yen – Half off for member appreciation

We will meet at the ticket gate of Tsuru-shi station at 0800. You can take the Chuo line from Shinjuku at 0520 arriving in Hachiohji at 0626, transfer to the Chuo-hon line departing at 0635 arriving at Ohtsuki station at 0722 and then transfer to the Fujikyuukoh line departing at 0722 and arriving at Tsuru-shi station at 0737 (1403 yen).
Note: This is only a suggestion. Please check the schedule from your point to origin, and ensure you arrive in time to catch the 0810 bus departing from Tsuru-shi station. Fare prices will vary.

We will take the FujikyuuYamanashi bus departing from Tsuru-shi station at 0810 and arriving at Dohzakasudoh bus stop at 0840 (650 yen). Lunch will be relatively late, so please bring ample snacks to keep you going along the way.

Hiking Course: Dohzakasuidoh bus stop—3:45—Mt. Mishohtai peak (lunch)—2:30—Mishohtai Iriguchi—1:30—Yamuramachi Station (toilet)

Note: Unfortunately, there are no bathrooms along the way.

Meet at the ticket gate of Ashigara Station on the Gotemba Line at 10:00AM.

From Shinjuku, take the 7:51 express Odakyuu Line train going towards Odawara. In ShinMatsuda (arriving at 9:14), walk to Matsuda Station (4 minutes) and switch to the 9:30 Gotemba Line train going towards Numazu. This train arrives in Ashigara at 9:57AM. DEFINITELY get on this train because we can’t wait for the next one since they are infrequent.

Leszek will get on the train at Shimokitazawa station.

We will hike from the station to Mt. Kitoki (1212 Meters). There are many shrines, temples, and a 360 degree panoramic view from the top, with a great view of Mt. Fuji. The hiking time itself is about 5.5 – 6 hours.

Please bring your lunch and drink.

8/6 to 8/7 (Sat~Sun) World Heritage Mt Fuji climb

(Very Difficult)
(Participation Fee 1000 yen) (Cancelled in case of rain)

Bring your own food, rice balls, energy snack bars, chocolate, bananas and plenty of water.

We will meet at Kawaguchiko station at 15:25. Then take the (15:50) bus to the 5th station.
Take the following trains: From Shinjuku station take the Chuo line (Special express to Takao) at 12:36 & change at Takao. Then take the 13:20 Chuo line (Kofu line) to Otsuki. Change to the Fujikyu line to Kawaguchiko (14:18) arriving at 15:21.

We will spend a couple of hours at the 5th stn to climatise & plan to start the climb around 19:00. Climbing slowly & taking many breaks so we can time our ascend to reach the top just before sunrise.
: Fuji Yoshida trail – Kusushi shrine (top) – Subashiri 5th station.

The total walking time for the hike will be about 7~8 hours going up & about 4~5 hours going down.

1) September 1-2 (Sat~Sun) World Heritage Mt Fuji climb is CANCELED due to bad weather.

2) September 1 – Arakawa River Clean Up & Picnic

We will met at Minami-Sunamachi Station (on the Tozai Line) outside of Exit 3 at 9:30a.m., and then go to the Arakawa River by car and pick up trash along the banks for about 2.5 hours. Afterwards we will have a picnic along the river at a nearby park.

All food and drinks will be provided for the picnic. Admission Y1,000 to cover the cost of food and drinks (+Y500 or Y1,500 for people drinking beer or wine). The picnic should finish between 3:00 and 3:30.

Recommended: Hat, long-sleeve shirt (for sun protection), gloves, walking/hiking shoes, generally older clothing that you don’t mind getting a little dirty. The clean up route will be mostly paved so rubber boots will not be necessary

If you come late, walk to the river alongside the Tozai Line and go to the water where the Tozai Line Bridge crosses the river and look for us along the water line. Also call my cell phone 090-1847-5075 if there are any problems finding us. The adjacent park has restrooms nearby the clean up area.

We will spend a couple of hours at Mt Fuji 5th station to climatise & then start the climb around 18:00. Climbing slowly & taking many short breaks so we can time our ascend to reach the top just before sunrise.

2) Edogawa River Clean-up & Picnic

This will be a 3-part event centered around a riverside picnic at 1:00pm. Participants can attend one or both sessions and or just the picnic. There will be 3 pick up times at Barakinakayama Station

Part 1: River Clean Up 9:00a.m.-12:30p.m. (morning session)
Riverside Picnic: 1:00p.m.-2:30p.m.
Part 2 River Clean Up 3:00pm-6:30p.m. (afternoon session)

MORNING SESSION:
Gather at BARAKINAKAYAMA Station (Tozai Line) outside the only ticket gate at 9:00a.m., and then go to te Edogawa River by car and pick up trash along the banks for about 2.5 to 3 hours.

PICNIC:
Gather at BARAKINAKAYAMA Station at 12:45p.m. and go to the river by car for a 1:00p.m. picnic start. Picnic will basically include bentos with desert (fruit/sweets), soft drinks and beer/wine. Y1,000/Y1,500 for participants without alcohol / with alcohol, respectively. Afterwards we can throw frisbees and balls around, and there is a swimming pool and spa with rotemburo only 2-3min. away on foot for those interested in finishing their day with a swim (bring swim ware and cap, Y500 admission to pool + Y600 if entering sento/rotemburo area)

AFTERNOON SESSION:
Gather at BARAKINAKAYAMA Station (Tozai Line) outside the only ticket gate at 2:45p.m.., and then go to te Edogawa River by car and pick up trash along the banks for about 2.5 to 3 hours.

INFO:
If you come late, it will be about a 25-min walk to our location behind the Ichikawa Clean Spa, or take one of the Clean Spa shuttle buses to our location. Also call my cell phone 090-1847-5075 if there are any problems finding us. There are restrooms in the Clean Spa (Y200 admission to the facility) at the tennis courts next to the Clean Spa (no charge)

RAIN:
In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled as we will move to and from the river by car and we can clean up under cover the bay front bridges as a Plan B as well as adjacent areas using rain ware. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds (e.g., typhoon conditions) then the event will be cancelled.
