Train Schedule

9:09 Leave Shinjuku Station on the Chuo Line Express to Oume (Probably on Platform 12) 10:10 Arrive at Oume Station, cross the platform and take the Oume Line train going towards Okutama 10:11 Oume Line departure 10:34 Arrive at Kori

Meet on the front of the 9:09 train at Shinjuku if you want to go from there there. Leszek will get on the first car of the same train at Mitaka Station.

Course: Kori Station – Oonara Pass – Mitsukama Waterfalls (beautifully frozen if it’s cold) – Okutama Station

The walking time will be about 5-6 hours.

As we may go to a Hot Springs after the hike, please bring a change of clothes and a towel!

Ogawamachi hike and onsen

We will have a 5 hour hike that takes us up 3 low mountains and next to a marsh.

Course: Tobu Takesawa Station – Mt. Kinsho – Tenno Marsh – Ogawamachi Station

From Ikebukuro, take the Tobu Tojo (Express) Line’s 9:00AM train and get off at Ogawamachi Station, arriving at 10:09AM. Change here to the local train going the same direction towards Yorii, getting on the 10:11 train which arrives at Tobu Takesawa Station at 10:15AM. Make sure to get on this train as we cannot wait for the next one.

People going from Ikebukuro Station can meet at the front end of the train on the Tobu Tojo Line platform at 8:55, or meet at Tobu Takesawa Station’s ticket gate at 10:15.

Please wear appropriate shoes (tennis shoes, hiking boots), bring a lunch to eat on the mountain, and plenty of liquids.

As we will go to a Hot Springs in Ogawamachi after the hike, please bring a change of clothes if you’d like to join!

Miura Peninsula (Mt. Futago) Hiking

A 4 hour hike in the Zushi area, with evergreen forests, and going up Mt. Futago. We will meet at Shin-Zushi Station’s (on the Keihin Kyuuko Line) ticket gate at 10:00AM.
 
From Shinagawa, take the 9:08 Keihin-kyuuko Super Express to Kanazawa Hakkei, arriving there at 9:44. Change to the 9:49 KeikyuuShinZushi Line (going towards ShinZushi, arriving at Shin-Zushi at 9:56.
Those who want to ride together, please get on the front car of the train.
 
We will finish the hike at Taura Station (on the Yokosuka Line).
Please wear appropriate shoes (tennis shoes, hiking boots), bring a lunch to eat on the mountain, and plenty of liquids.

Environmental Restoration Project with Friends of the Earth

International Friendship Sushi Party

From 6:30-9:30pm at the Polygon (behind the Oriental Bazaar on Omotesando)

For JAMBO members, the cost is 3,500 yen for men and 3,000 yen for women w/reservation (foreigners get a 500 yen discount)(or plus 500 yen if you go directly without making a reservation). All beer, wine, cocktails, soft drinks + sushi buffet, garden salad, veggies, cheeses, breads, and pies for dessert included.

SPECIAL DAY – Tanzawa Hike & Hot Springs

Burn off that beer gut DAY (and then put it back on)!  Feel free to join either hike or both hikes (1000 yen for doing both so you can get twice as much for your money and enjoy more by making it a day) and/or the hot springs afterwards for a New Year Party with JAMBO!!!

TANZAWA HIKING BIG DAY (Part 1) (Easy Course)
(1000 yen Participation Fee for morning and afternoon, or just one part) (We go even if it rains)

Today’s hiking has two parts. Both parts are about 3 hour hikes. Feel free to do either hike, both hikes, or simply the hot springs at the end.

We meet at Shibusawa Station at 8:59AM. Take the 7:41AM Odakyuu Line Express train from Shinjuku Station. This arrives at Shibusawa Station at 8:57.  Meet at the ticket gate. Or, if you’d like to go with others from Shinjuku, get on the front of the 7:41 Odakyu Line express train at Shinjuku Station. David will get on the first car at the next station (Yoyogi Uehara). Be sure to arrive by this time since we will be unable to wait for the next train. From here, we hike up into the Shibusawa Hills and Mt. Asama, then down to Hadano Station, where we will meet other people who are joining for the 2nd hike.

Please wear appropriate shoes (tennis shoes, hiking boots), bring a lunch to eat on the mountain, and plenty of liquids.

TANZAWA Hiking (Part 2)
(1000 yen Participation Fee) (We go even if it rains)

Meeting Place and Time: The ticket gate of Hadano Station (on the Odakyuu Line) at 12:15PM (For those going there from Shinjuku, board the 11:01AM Odakyuu Line train at Shinjuku. This arrives in Hadano at 12:12.

Hiking Course (3 hours walking): Hatano Satation- Mt. Gongen- Mt.Koubou- Mt Azuma –Sazanka Onsen…

Both hikes are appropriate for children.

HOT SPRINGS!!! (Part 3)
(We’ll go even if it rains)

For you lazy people who just want to enjoy a hot springs and a New Year’s Party, we will meet at the Super Hot Springs (a 5 minute walk from the Odakyuu Line’s Tokai-daigaku-mae Station) at around 17:00 to do just this. Chichibu Hiking

Meeting Place & Time: Shoumaru Station ticket gate at 10:35AM

Course: Shomaru Station – Old Shoumaru Pass – Nagaiwa Pass – Shomaru Station

Walking Time: about 4 hours

From Ikebukuro, take the Seibu Ikebukuro (Express) Line’s 9:00AM train (going towards Hanno) and get off at Hanno Station, arriving at 9:48. Change to the 10:02 Seibu Chichibu Line train, and get off at Shomaru (arriving at 10:33). Make sure to get on this train as we cannot wait for the next one. We’ll meet at the ticket gate there at 10:35AM.

Meet on the front of the 9:00 train at Ikebukuro if you want to go from there.

OKUTAMA HIKING, Light Up, & Fireworks BIG EVENT!

PART 1 – The hike is not so difficult and is about a 4 hour walk. We meet at Hinatawada Station at 10:18AM. Take the 9:09 Special Express train going towards Oume from Shinjuku Station. . This is the Chuo Line but may be on a separate track as it’s a special train.  PLEASE BE CAREFUL!!! This arrives at Ome Station at 10:10.  Get off and go across the platform and take the 10:11 train towards Okutama. This train arrives at Hinatawada Station at 10:16. Be sure to arrive by this time since we will be unable to wait for the next train.

If you’d like to go from Shinjuku, get on the front of the 9:09 Chuo Line train at Shinjuku Station.
David will get on the first car at the next station (Nakano).

From here, we hike up Mt. Mimuro (647 meters) – Mt. Atago (584 meters), and then go down to Ikusabata Station and take a short river walk to Sawai Station.

Please wear appropriate shoes (tennis shoes, hiking boots), bring a lunch to eat on the mountain, and plenty of liquids.

PART 2 – Restaurant, Christmas Light-up and Fireworks!!!

Cost: Your food and drink, and 410 yen to enter the park

Meeting Place and Time: The ticket gate of Tachikawa Station (on the Chuo Line) at 15:55

We will go to a restaurant (Saizeria?) for eats and drinks. After that, we will get to Showa Kinen Park at around 18:00. It has a beautiful Christmas light-up and a fireworks display at 20:10. Please take a look at: http://xmas.walkerplus.com/detail/ar0313il17382/

Tama Nature Hiking Course

Enjoy hiking in the woods while having views of the surrounding Tokyo!

Meet at the Odayuu Line’s Yomiuri Land Mae Station at 11:13AM. Take the Odakyu Express (Kyuukou) from Shinjuku Station at 10:41AM and change to the Odakyuu Local line at Mukougaokayuuen (arriving at 11:02 and departing at 11:07).  Take this to Yomiuri Land Mae, arriving at 11:11AM. 

This hiking course passes by several temples and shrines, a nice wooded area, a Japanese garden, a “Fruits Park” and a lot of greenery. It’s a fairly easy 3.5 hour hike ending up at Tamagawa Station on the Keio Line.

Bring your own beverages and lunch box and backpack.

Please wear comfortable hiking shoes/boots.
