(Easy)(Participation Fee 1000 yen + 200 yen Park Entrance Fee) (We go even if it rains)

Course: HigashiFuchuu Station – SengenYama Municipal Park – Fuchuu Forest Park – Tama River Green Area – Kyodo Forest (Plum Festival & Allspice) – Fuchu Station
 
Walking Time: About 5 Hours (10KM) – Half city walking and half in parks and green areas 
 
From Shinjuku, take the  Keio Line (Semi Special Express) train at 9:27AM  and get off at Chofu Station, arriving at 9:43AM. Change to the local train (going towards Keio Hachiouji) leaving at 9:49. This arrives at HigashiFuchuu Station at 9:57. We’ll meet at the ticket gate there at 10:00AM.
 
People going from Shinjuku Station can meet at the front end of the train at 9:27.

Picnic and Plum Blossom Viewing in Shinjuku Gyoen

(Easy Course, 1000 yen (includes park entrance fee, we go even if it rains) NEW!

Meeting Place and Time: Exit A1 of the Shinjuku SanChoume Station (on the Murunouchi or Fukutoshin Line) at 12:30

The program is ¥1000 and includes explanations of plants along the way in English. Everyone is requested to use English only for the first hour. After that, people may speak in their preferred language, but David will use only English during the walk for the first 2 hours. We’ll do a small quiz about nature during the picnic.

12:30 – 13:30 – Walk to Shinjuku Gyoen (and stop at a Convenience Store to buy food (for those who didn’t bring a lunch) (English Only Please)
13:30 – 14:30 –  Picnic and Animal/Plant Game (in English)
14:30 – 16:00 – Walk around Shinjuku Gyoen
16:00 – Finished

Enjoy walking in the Tama area’s most popular walking course!
 
Meet at the Keiou Line’s MinamiOosawa Station’s ticket gate at 10:30AM.

Take the Keiou Express (going towards Hashimoto) from Shinjuku Station at 9:52AM. This arrives at MinamiOosawa at 10:26AM.

Course: MinamiOosawa Station – Shimizu Green Road – Yokoyama Green Road – Wakabadai Station (Keiou Line)

It’s a fairly easy 5-6 hour event (about 15 KM) with a lot of greenery.

13:00 – 13:30 – Walk to Ogunohara Park (and stop at a Convenience Store to buy food/drink (English Only Please)
13:30 – 14:00 –  Short English Jokes Fun
14:00 – 15:00 – Walk to Arakawa Nature Park
15:00 -15:30 – Enjoy the park
16:00 – Enjoy the Rose Festival near Machiya Station
16:30 – Finished

Meet at the ticket gate of Akigawa Station (on the Itsukaichi Line) at 9:58AM.  
From Shinjuku, take the Chuo Line (Special Express going towards Takao) at 8:54, arriving at Kokubunji Station at 9:14AM.  Change to the 9:16 JR Chuo Line train (going towards Oume), and take it to Haijima (arriving at 9:36). Change in Haijima to the JR Itsukaichi Line, leaving Haijima at 9:46 and arriving at Akigawa Station at 9:55.
David will get on the front of the Itsukaichi Line train at Haijima at 9:46AM.

Course: Akigawa Station – SummerLand Family Park’s Hydrangea Park – Akigawa Hill Course – Mt. Benten – MusashiItsukaichi Station

We’ll look for swimming places along the river so, if you want to swim, please bring your swimsuit.

Enjoy hiking in the woods while having views of the surrounding Tokyo!
 
Meet at KeioTamagawa Station on the Keio Line at 11:00AM. Take the
Keio Line express train (going towards Keio Hachioji) from Shinjuku Station at 10:40AM, get off at Chofu at 10:54 and then take the 10:55 train (on the same platform going towards Hashimoto) and get off at KeioTamagawa Station at 10:57.
 
This hiking course passes by several temples and shrines, a nice wooded area, a Japanese garden, a “Fruits Park” and a lot of greenery. It’s a fairly easy 3.5 hour hike ending up at YomiurilandMae Station on the Odakyuu Line.
 
Bring your own beverages and lunch box and backpack.
Please wear comfortable hiking shoes/boots.
