Hiking up a mountain to 924 meters and along a ridge to the Hakone Yumoto area. Views of Mt. Fuji and Lake Ashinoko, Temples, and a lot of Japanese Pompass Grass

Hiking Course: Gora Station (by the interesting, scenic old train) – Myojogatake – Touno Mine – Hakone Yumoto

This course is about 5.5 hours of walking.

From Shinjuku Station, take the 7:50AM Odakyu Line Express, which arrives in Odawara at 9:27AM. From there, get on the Hakone Tetsudo (old scenic train), arriving at Hakone Yumoto at 9:48. Change there, to another Hakone Tetsudo train going to Goura, leaving at 9:51 and arriving at Goura at 10:33AM. Please don’t miss these trains.

If you’d like to go from Shinjuku, get on the front of the 7:50 Odakyu Line train at Shinjuku Station. David will get on the first car at the next station (Yoyogi Uehara). Please wear appropriate shoes (tennis shoes, hiking boots), bring a lunch to eat on the mountain, and plenty of liquids.

As we will go to a hot springs after the hike, please bring a change of clothes and a towel!

Meet at the JR Ohme Line’s Okutama Station’s Ticket Gate at 10:25AM. From Shinjuku, take the Chuo Line Holiday Special Express going towards Okutama at 8:47. This goes all the way to Okutama Station, arriving at 10:24AM (but be sure to get on the right part of the train which goes to Okutama, and beware that the platform may not be the regular Chuo Line Platform at Shinjuku). Be sure to arrive on this train as we will be unable to wait for the next one.

The hike will be Okutama Station – Anjizawa – Mt. Honida – Mt. Kobutaka – Mt. One Shrine – Hatonosu Station

The hiking time is about 5 hours.

As we will go to a Hot Springs after the hike, please bring a change of clothes and a towel if you’d like to join!

Take the following trains !
Shinjuku Station (Odakyu Line Express going towards Fujisawa) 8:20AM – SagamiOono Station (arriving at 8:58)
SagamiOono ((Odakyu Line Express going towards Odawara) – 9:03 Departure, arriving at ShinMatsuda at 9:43
Matsuda Station JR Gotemba Line (9:57 Departure) – Yaga Station (10:09)
DEFINITELY arrive at this time (since we cannot wait for the next train since they run infrequently)!

If you’d like to go from Shinjuku, get on the front of the 8:20 Odakyu Line train at Shinjuku Station.

Walking Time: About five and a half hours

Course: Yaga Station – Mt. Ohno – Shasui Waterfall – Yamakita Station and Hot Springs

Mt. Takanosu (834 meters)
 Please bring your food and drink.

We will meet at the gate of Hakoneyumoto station(Odakyu line) at 9:50 AM.
From Shinjuku Station, take the Odakyu Line (Express going towards Odawara) leaving at 7:50AM. This arrives at odawara at 9:30. Change to the Hakone Tozan Line, leaving at 9:32 and arriving at Hakoneyumoto station at 9:48AM
If you’d like to go from Shinjuku, get on the front of the 7:50 Odakyu Line express train at Shinjuku Station. David will get on the first car
at the next station (Yoyogi Uehara).
Please don’t be late since we MUST catch the 10:10AM bus going to Hatajuku (20 minutes, 380 yen).

Hike course: Hatajuku – Mt.Takanosu – Mt Sengen – Shiroyama – Hakoneyumoto
The total course time for the hike will be about four and a half hours.

Especially, the red and yellow (maples) leaves should be so wonderful.

Train schedule change!

Hinode hike & hot spring

We’ll take the cable car up to Mitake shrine and hike to Mt. Hinode. After the hike, we’ll go to Tsuru-tsuru Onsen and take a shuttle bus to Musashi Itsukaichi station.

Meeting place and time: Mitake station, 10:50am 10:15.

From Shinjuku take the 8:48 8:47 JR Chuo line train towards Oume. It will reach Oume at 10:00 am. From there, we’ll switch to the 10:17 train towards Okutama, which arrives at Mitake station at 10:45 10:10.

Mt. Oyama And Beyond for Intermediate hikers
(Participation Fee 1000 yen) (Cancelled in case of rain)

Getting there: Meet at Isehara Station (Odakyu Line) ticket gate at 8:55am. From Shinjuku Station take the 7:50am Odakyu Line Express towards Odawara, arriving at Isehara at 8:52.
      (Oleksiy and Guy will get on the front carriage of the train at Shimokitazawa)
      We’ll be taking a bus at 9:05 to the Mt. Oyama hike starting point.
After the hot springs, we’ll be returning by bus to Hon-Atsugi station.

Hike course: Up and over the back of Mt. Oyama, along a mystery ridge, down beside a stream, onto a road, through a long dark tunnel and down to the very pleasant Nanosawa Onsen. A varied and interesting course.

Meeting Place and Time: On the front car of the Keio Line train at Shinjuku at 8:16 or at Yamanashi-shi Station ticket gate at 10:50

We leave Shinjuku on the 8:16 Keio Line train, arriving at Takao at 9:14

We’ll change trains there to the Chuo Line, getting on the 9:25 train and arriving at Yamanashi-shi Station at 10:47AM. (One way is ¥1,460)

From Yamanashi-shi Station, we will walk 5KM and have lunch in the Fuefukigawa Fruits Park ( http://fuefukigawafp.co.jp/ ) from 12:00 – 1:00, then walk about 30 more minutes to the hot springs (¥700 entrance fee – http://www.hottarakashi-onsen.com/ ). We’ll stay for about an hour and a half, then walk back to the station.

Get refreshed in the hot spring while seeing Mt. Fuji (if the weather permits). As the name “Hottarakashi” hot spring means, there are no services there except vending machines.

Any kind of walking shoes is OK. You can buy a simple lunch near the station or bring your own food and drink.

As we will go to a Hot Springs at the end of the hike, please bring a change of clothes and a towel if you’d like to join!

Meet at the JR Ohme Line’s Kori Station’s Ticket Gate at 10:05 am. From Shinjuku, take the Chuo Line Special Express at 8:26 to Takao. In Kokubunji, change for the Oume Line, leaving Kokubunji at 8:47 and arriving at Oume Station at 9:26AM. Change here to the Oume Line (local) leaving at 9:41 and arriving at Kori Station at 10:05AM. Be sure to arrive on this train as we will be unable to wait for the next one. There’s an earlier train leaving from Shinjuku that may go all the way to Ome, so please check there (in which case there would be no need to transfer at Kokubunji).
 
The hike will be:

  • Kori Station
  • Mt. Ootsuka
  • Mitake Shrine
  • Mt. Mitake
  • Mt. Hinode
  • Hinatawada Station

Leszek will be at Oume station.

After the hike we’ll go to Tsuru-tsuru onsen, so please bring a towel if you want to join.

The total course time will be four and a half hours.

Hadano Station – Yabitsu Pass (by bus – 470 yen) – Mt. Harudake – Mt. Ohyama – Aburi Insurine – Ohyama cable station – Isehara Station

We will meet at the gate of Hadano station(Odakyu line) at 9:15AM and take a bus which leaves for Yabitsu Pass from Hadano Station at 9:20 AM.
This bus is the final one to get there.There are no more buses for
Yabitsu Pass after this one, so miss it at your peril!

If you’d like to go from Shinjuku, get on the front of the 8:01 Odakyu Line express train at Shinjuku Station. David will get on the first car at the next station (Yoyogi Uehara). This train arrives at Hadano at 9:14.

The view from the peak of Mt Ohyama is famous for its beauty, so if we’re lucky with the weather, we ought to be able to enjoy a splendid panorama while we eat our lunch. Please don’t forget to have your rucksack and exercise or tracking shoes to avoid your injury.

For you lazy people who just want to enjoy a hot springs and a New Year’s Party, we will meet at the Super Hot Springs (a 5 minute walk from the Odakyuu Line’s Tokai-daigaku-mae Station) at around 17:00 to do just this. Meet at the ticket gate of Shin Matsuda Station on the Odakyuu Line at 9:30AM.

From Shinjuku, take the 8:01 express Odakyuu Line train (towards Odawara) and get off at ShinMatsuda (arriving at 9:25). We’ll meet at the ticket gate there at 9:30AM (DEFINITELY get on this train because we can’t wait for the next one since we take a 9:40 bus)

Those riding from Shinjuku can meet on the front car of the 8:24 train. David will get on the first car of this train at the YoyogiUehara station at 8:06.

*COURSE:: ShinMatsuda Station – Yadorigi Bus Stop (by bus – 520 yen – 30 minutes) – Kuri no Ki Doh (908 meters) – Mizuhi Great Falls – Black Dragon’s Falls – YonJuuHatchiSe Gawa River – Shibusawa Station – TokaiDaigakumae Station (by train) – Sazanka Hot Springs (near TokaiDaigakumae Station)

The hiking time itself is about 5.5 hours.

Burn off that beer gut DAY (and then put it back on)!  Feel free to join either hike or both hikes (1000 yen for doing both so you can get twice as much for your money and enjoy more by making it a day) and/or the hot springs afterwards for a New Year Party with JAMBO!!!

TANZAWA HIKING BIG DAY (Part 1) (Easy Course) (1000 yen Participation Fee for morning and afternoon, or just one part) (We go even if it rains)

Today’s hiking has two parts.  Both parts are about 3 hour hikes.   Feel free to do either hike, both hikes, or simply the hot springs at the end.

We meet at Shibusawa Station at 8:55AM. Take the 7:41AM Odakyuu Line Express train from Shinjuku Station.  This arrives at Shibusawa  Station at 8:54.  Meet at the ticket gate.  Or, if you’d like to go with others from Shinjuku, get on the front of the 7:41 Odakyu Line express train at Shinjuku Station. David will get on the first car at the next station (Yoyogi Uehara).

Be sure to arrive by this time since we will be unable to wait for the next train.  From here, we hike up into the Shibusawa Hills and Mt. Koubou, then down to Hadano Station, where we will meet other people who are joining for the 2nd hike.

Please wear appropriate shoes (tennis shoes, hiking boots), bring a lunch to eat on the mountain, and plenty of liquids.

TANZAWA Hiking (Part 2) (1000 yen Participation Fee) (We go even if it rains)

Meeting Place and Time: The ticket gate of Hadano Station (on the Odakyuu

Line) at 12:10PM (For those going there from Shinjuku, board the 11:00AM

Odakyuu Line train at Shinjuku.  This arrives in Hadano at 12:08.

Hiking Course (3 hours walking): Hatano Satation- Mt. Gongen- Mt.Koubou- Mt Azuma –Sazanka Onsen…

Both hikes are appropriate for children.
