JAMBO will provide barbecue equipment, food (fish, vegetables and snacks) and soft drinks in the park. People should bring their own alcohol (which you can buy at the convenient store near Shin Kiba Station). Benches are sparse, bring blankets. Reservations can be made to David at this address by September 24.

3:00 – 4:00 – Salsa Dance Lesson
4:00 – 5:00PM – Do what you like (dance, eat, drink, talk, frisbee, whatever)

Should be a lot of fun!!! You can also visit the wonderful botanical garden in Yume no Shima as well.

Armando Torres Paez has an impressive backgroundIn Cuba, Armando has been working with the professional dance group,“Tiempo Havana” as a first dancer
which performs at theaters and on TV in Cuba. His students won two gold medals at the competition in Havana . He gives classes for popular dance
incuding salsa and Folkloricos. In 2011 he came to Japan and teaches how to enjoy salsa!

6:30 – 8:00PM – Introduction to the transformation course and explanation on how this monthly get-together will proceed

8:00 – 8:30PM – Ronnie (the wonderful person who is working with street children in Uganda and to whom JAMBO sent many clothes) will contact us by skype and be giving some of the clothes which he received to the children there, so we can talk with him and the children.  This is one example of putting “Spirituality into Action.”

This is the first of a monthly course (the first get-together being at the office near MinamiSunamachi station), using materials from the PEERS Transformation Course.  This course, as well as our monthly meetings, discuss a current topic and various ways action can be taken to deal with the issue.  Please look at the following link to see the contents and level of difficulty.

Or meet at the station at 12:30 to join the walk (using English) and one of the best parks in Tokyo, Kasai Rinkai Park, on the Tokyo Bay (eating, drinking, birdwatching, walking around, whatever you want to do).  Bring food/drinks/games, or you can buy things at the food stands in the park.

1) First ever 2000m JAMBO Course! (No Participation Fee for JAMBO member appreciation day!)

Daibosatsurei

We will meet at the ticket gate of Kai-Yamato station at 0801.

Please make sure you to bring lunch and plenty with you.  There will not be time to purchase lunch and water at Kai-yamato station and the options will be very limited once we get off the bus.

Take the Chuo line from Shinjuku at 0600 arriving in Tachikawa at 0638 and then transfer to the Chuo-hon line departing at 0643 and arriving at Kai-Yamato station at 0801 (1944 yen). We will take the Eiwa bus departing from Kai-Yamato station at 0810 and arriving at Kamihikawa-touge bus stop at 0851 (1000 yen).

Hiking Course: Kamihikawa-touge bus stop (toilet)—1:40—Ishimaru-touge—1:25 (toilet on the way)—Kaminariiwa (lunch)—0:10—Daibosatsurei peak—2:35—Daibosatsu-sanguchi (toilet) Trekking time: 5:50 Return bus from Daibosatsutouge-touzanguchi bus stop at 1603 arriving at Enzan station at 1630 (300 yen).

Take the JR Holiday Express departing Enzan station at 1705 arriving in Shinjuku at 1855 (1944 yen).

Total fare: 5188 yen

We will meet at the Odakyu Line West Exit at Odawara at 10:47 AM.
9:11  Depart Shinjuku on the Odakyu Line (Express going towards Odawara) and get off at Odawara (arriving at 10:45). 
If you’d like to go from Shinjuku, get on the front of the 9:11 Odakyu Line train at Shinjuku Station. David will get on the first car at the next station (Yoyogi Uehara).

Course:  Odawara Station (West Exit) – History and Culture Walking Course (part of it – including a temple, shrine, parks and castle) – Sakawa Beach (Garbage clean-up and fun) – Odawara Station

The walking time for the walk will be about 4 hours.

KICK ASS – A full moon bash at a beautiful lake!!!

Bring your own food, drinks, fun stuff (ball, frisbees, whatever), since there appears to be no open shops at Sagami Lake.

We will meet at Chuo Line’s Sagamiko Station’s ticket gate at 8:00PM or at the front of the Chuo Line train at Hino Station at 7:32PM.
From Shinjuku, take the 6:49PM Chuo Line express train (going towards Hachiouji). This arrives at Hino Station at 7:24PM. Change there to the Chou Line local train going towards Kofu, leaving at 7:32. This arrives at Sagamiko at 7:57PM.

Last Train – Sagamiko 23:22 – Shinjuku (12:40AM)
BONUS: Those who want to do challenge camping near the lake with David (no reservation) should bring a tent, sleeping bag, and whatever else you want.

4:00 – 5:30 – Volunteer Meetup and Park Fun
Talk about your cause. If you don’t have a cause and are simply interested in volunteering, please come and you may find something to your liking. After that, enjoy fun in the park (Frisbee, Sunset, Picnic)
Reservations not necessary
You may join the garbage pick-up, festival and Meetup/Park Fun, or only one of them if you prefer.

外国人向きだから、英語の説明だけです。WONDERFUL OPPORTUNITY for foreigners living in Japan to learn Japanese in a friendly environment, make connections with Japanese who are actively involved with volunteerism, find short term and long term volunteer opportunities, and have a fun time sharing food, drink and conversation.
19:00 – 20:00 – Private or semi-private conversation/lesson in Japanese
20:00 – 21:30 – Participants can go to the nearby store to buy food/drinks they want and come back for an informal get-together in English or Japanese. Learn about volunteer opportunities, make friends with active bi-lingual speakers giving you the chance to expand your network and your perspective.

Today’s theme will include a discussion of different food cultures around the world (including Africa and the Middle East where some members have visited).

The Japanese volunteers for this event come from LVC (Language Volunteer Co-Talk), a group which is forming an international volunteer network in Tokyo. This event will be held at JAMBO SCHOOL on the second Friday of each month for as long as there is a demand.
