For JAMBO members, the cost is 2,000 yen  for men and 1500 yen for women w/reservation (or plus 500 yen if you go directly without making a reservation).  Foreigners get at 500 yen discount.  This includes  1 drink  & buffet included!

Half of your admission fee will be donated to SHU – The Environment NPO & O.G.AforAid.   So you can have an enjoyable evening and help a good cause at the same time. If you’d like to go with David, please meet at Exit 3 of  Kamiyacho Station’s Hibiya Line at 6:30PM on the 14th.

Kamakura – Oofuna Hiking and Home Party! & Disaster Drill (Separate programs)

We will meet at the East ticket gate of Kamakura Station at 9:45AM .

You can get on the JR Shonan Shinjuku Line (going towards Zushi) at Yokohama Station at 9:18, arriving in Kamakura at 9:41AM

Hiking Course – Kamakura Station – Zuisenji Temple – Tenen Hiking Course – Mt Rokkokenzan – Takanodai – Oofuna Goddess of Mercy Statue – – Oofuna Station

Walking Time: about 5 hours

After the hike, those who want to go are invited to a friend’s party in a wonderful place on the 11th floor overlooking the Tsurumi River.  For those not going on the hike but wanting to go to the party, please meet us at the Tsurumi Station (on the Keihin Tohoku Line) ticket gate at 17:00.

The party fee is 500 yen for BBQ goods, and you can buy other food/drinks on the way to the party.

Place: Honjo Bosaikan (Life Safety Learning Center) Free of charge

In the Tokyo metropolitan area earthquakes occur frequently and global warming can cause rainstorms and floods. It is necessary for residents in Japan to participate in disaster drills against such events. Language Volunteer Co-talk (LVC) encourages you to participate in the disaster drill to learn how to act safely in the event of disasters.

Realistic Experiences

The training includes realistic disaster experiences using simulators.

1. Earthquake simulation

You can experience an earthquake with an intensity of up to seven on the Japanese seismic intensity scale. 2. Urban flooding experience

Evacuation in torrential rain can be difficult. You can experience the phenomenon of basement doors that won’t open due to the pressure of floodwater and the situation of being trapped in a submerged car. 3. Storm simulation

You can experience a powerful storm of typhoon force.

Environmental Project

Environmental Project Volunteering at Tama Zoo –  Cutting down bamboo grass, Repairing/making hiking course stairs

(Cancelled in case of 70% or more chance of rain)  9:30AM – 2:30PM

Cost: FREE

We meet at 9:30AM at the front main entrance of Tama Zoo’s Station (Tama Dobutsukoen).

Take the 8:47AM Keio Line Semi-express from Shinjuku to Takahatafudo (arriving at 9:21AM) and change to the Keio Dobutsu Koen Line train, leaving Takahatafudo at 9:25 and arriving at Tama Dobutsu Koen Station  at 9:28AM.

If you would like to participate, please inform David by October 5 (Thursday) so that we can get volunteer insurance. If you join this event, please bring the following: Long sleeved shirt and long pants (not shorts), work gloves, towel, and appropriate shoes (trekking shoes or hiking boots) are required.

Please bring whatever you want to eat for lunch, and drinks during the work project.

Dessert Cooking Class

Learn how to cook mont blanc tart!

Join us, if you like cooking – and it’s OK only to eat as well (if you don’t care to cook).

Let’s enjoy cooking together and have a wonderful time with good homemade dessert♪ A teacher will demonstrate tea ceremony.

Experience the culture of tea. It is not necessary to take a seiza position.

HIKING at Sagamiko Lake & Takao Beer Garden

In case of hard rain, we will meet at Takasanguchi Station at 3:00PM to go to the beer garden

We will hike from Sagami Lake to Mt. Takao (about a 4 hour hike and hit the Mt. Takao Beer Garden at about 3:30PM. (3500 yen for men and 3300 yen for women – all you can eat and drink for 2 hours)

BBQ in Kiba Park

(Reservation Deadline is September 21 at 10:00PM)

LVC (Language Volunteer Koto-ku) is having a BBQ in Kiba Park and has invited Jambo staff and foreigners to attend. From Jambo we already have 15 people, and there is room for 10 more foreigners. Please reserve at contact@jambointernational.com as soon as possible if you want to join. Reservations are necessary and taken on a first come, first serve basis.

Meeting Place/Time: Kiba Station (Tozai Line) Exit 3 at 11:45AM

(The BBQ will be held from 12:00 – 3:00PM, and you’re welcome to hang out in the park afterwards with others). If you come late, you can go to the Kiba Park BBQ area or call David at 080-6546-7688.

OUME RIDGE HIKING & SPIDER LILLIES!

We meet at Miyanohira Station at  11:05AM. Take the 9:51AM Oume Line  Express train (from Platform #12) from Shinjuku Station.  This arrives at Ome Station at 11:00.  Go across the platform and take the 11:00 train towards Okutama.  This train arrives at MiyanoHira Station at 11:03.  Be sure to arrive by this time since we will be unable to wait for the next train.

Today’s hiking is about 3.5 hours.
