Tama Zoo’s Chimpanzee Woods

Meet at 9:25AM at the front main entrance of Tama Zoo’s station (TamaDobutsukoen).

Take the 8:40AM Keio Line express from Shinjuku to Takahatafudo (arriving at 9:15AM) and change to the Keio Dobutsu Koen Line train, leaving Takahatafudo at 9:18 and arriving at Tama Dobutsu Koen Station at 9:22AM.

If you would like to participate, please inform David by June 8 so that we can get volunteer insurance. If you join this event, please bring the following: Long sleeved shirt and long pants (not shorts), work gloves, towel, and appropriate shoes (trekking shoes or hiking boots) are required.

Please bring whatever you want to eat for lunch, and drinks during the work project.

Int’l Friendship Sushi Party

From 6:30-9:30pm at the Polygon (behind the Oriental Bazaar on Omotesando)

For JAMBO members, the cost is 3,500 yen for men and 3,000 yen for women w/reservation (or plus 500 yen if you go directly without making a reservation).  All beer, wine, cocktails, sot drinks + sushi buffet, garden salad, veggies, cheeses, breads, and pies for dessert included. 

Reservations can be made with David at jambodave@green.email.ne.jp or phone (03-6599-8112) by June 8. Half of your admission fee will be donated to Proliteracy (An International Literacy Organization) & Institute for Transportation & Development Policy (An organization that supports sustainable transport around the world, especially in developing countries).

So you can have an enjoyable evening and help a good cause at the same time. If you’d like to go with David, please meet at Exit A1 of Omotesando Station  at 6:15PM on the 9th.

Chichibu Hiking – Waterfall and Scenic Experience

(771 Meters)

Meeting Time & Place: 10:30AM at Nishi Agano Station’s ticket gate
Take the Seibu Ikebukuro Line Express train from Ikebukuro Station at 9:04AM. This arrives at Hanno Station (the final destination) at 10:00AM. Change here to the Seibu Chichibu Line (which leaves at 10:04 just across the platform) and get off at Nishi Agano Station (arriving at 10:29AM). (Definitely arrive at this time!) The train costs \610.

Meet on the front of the 9:04 Seibu Ikebukuro Line train at Ikebukuro if you want to go from there there.

Hiking Course: Nishi Agano Station – Ogi no Daira – Shirataki Waterfall – Fudou Waterfall – Big Waterfall – Nishi Agano Station The hiking time is about 5 hours.

Please bring your lunch and drink.

Rose Garden & Riverside Fun

Meeting Place and Time: Mukogaokayuen Station’s (on the Odakyuu Line) South ticket gate (East Exit) at 13:30 or Ikuta Green Area Rose Garden (12 minute walk from the Station) at 14:00 or thereafter

Odawara – West Hills Walking Course & Beach Clean Up!

We will meet at the Odakyu Line Ticket Gate at Odawara at 9:48 AM.
8:18  Depart Shinjuku on the Odakyu Line (Special Express going towards Enoshima) and get off at SagamiOno (arriving at 8:50).  Change to the 8:51 express train going towards Odawara.  This arrives at Odawara at 9:46.
If you’d like to go from Shinjuku, get on the front of the 8:18 Odakyu Line train at Shinjuku Station.
David will get on the first car at the next station (Yoyogi Uehara).
Course:  Odawara Station – Ikoi Forest – Oohatake Goddess of Mercy – Kyofuku Temple – Sakawa Beach (Garbage clean-up and fun) – Odawara Station
The total walking time for the hike will be about 4 hours.

After the hike, from 3:00 – 5:00PM, we will do a garbage clean-up on the beach and have some beach fun, and maybe say goodbye to the sun until the next day.

This course uses materials from the PEERS Transformation Course.  This course, as well as our monthly meetings, discuss a current topic and various ways action can be taken to deal with the issue.  Please look at the above links to see the contents and level of difficulty.

Okutama Hiking!

This is a Friends of the Earth Hike which JAMBO will join.
Bring your own food and drink!
Course:  Mt. Ootake – Rock Garden – 3 waterfalls
The hike is highlighted by the beautiful rock garden and magnificent views from Mt. Ootake.

Starting from the Kami-Yosawa bus stop we hike along a forest road to a waterfall, Nanayonotaki, just below Mt. Mitake. The route then goes through a beautiful rock garden and we have lunch at a second waterfall, Ayahirontaki. After lunch we climb to the top of Mt. Otake, where we can enjoy a panoramic view of the surrounding moutains. From the top we hike past a third waterfall, Otaki, to the Otake-Shounyudou bus stop, where we catch the bus back to Musashi-Itsukaichi Station.

Meeting time:
at 8:10am

place: at the front end of Platform 7 at JR Shinjuku station.
Walking hours: 5.0 hrs.

Note:
You can also meet us at the ticket barrier of Musashi Itsukaichi station at 9.21am.
