Chiba Inner Coast Hiking & Beach Fun

Please bring your swimsuit, beach toys, food and drink (or you can buy at a supermarket near the station).
 
Train Schedule
 
9:04 – Leave Chiba Station on the Uchibo Line (Local)
10:47  –   Arrive at Tomiura Station (David & others will be waiting at the ticket gate)

The hike will be Tomiura Station – Hokkezaki Peninsula –  Tatara Coast – Daibusami Peninsula Green Road and Park – Observation Point – Tadara Beach
After the hike, we’ll enjoy time on the beach.

The walking time is about 3.5 hours.

Chiba Inner Coast Camping & Beach Fun!!! 

(Participation Fee 1000 yen (includes Sunday) + 500 yen Camping Fee)

We will go out to Tadara Beach (Beach on the Tokyo Bay near Tomiura Station) on Saturday night.  We can watch the sunset (since the beach faces west) and then eat, drink and enjoy the beach that night as well as the next day. 
 
Please bring your swimsuit, sleeping bag and tent (you can sleep directly on the sand, but may get eaten up by sand flies), beach toys, food and drink. There is a supermarket near the station where we can buy drinks and food, however the food selection may be limited.

15:14 Leave Chiba Station on the Uchibo Line (Local)
16:55 – Arrive at Tomiura Station
 
You can meet David and others on the front of the Uchibo Line train at the ticket gate at Tomiura Station at 16:57.

Food Class and Restaurant Experience

Meeting Place and Time: Jambo School at 11:15AM

SCHEDULE:

11:15 – 12:15 – English Class concerning food (and focusing on the Ringer Hut menu)
12:30 – 13:30 – Eat at Ringer Hut (while using English)

Half of today’s payment will go to AWF and WWF.
 
The program is ¥1000. The English that you learn in the class will be used at the restaurant so it’s a very useful program.

Half of your admission fee will be donated to  AWF & WWF.
Limit: 11 people (Reservations are required!)

MIURA PENINSULA HIKING and Garbage Pickup!!!

Bring food for lunch and drinks.

We will go to Arasaki on the Miura Peninsula. This is a coastline hike with nice sea views, beaches and caves. We will meet at Misakiguchi station on the Keihin Kyuko (Keikyuu) Line at 9:30AM. From Shinagawa station, take the 8:18AM Keihin Kyuko Line train bound for Kurihama. Get off at Kurihama station at 9:11 and change to the 9:17 Keikyuu line going towards Misakiguchi. Get off at the last station (Misakiguchi). It arrives there at 9:29AM. This is an easy hike, so bring a plastic bag and we’ll pick up garbage on Nagahama Beach (at the end of the coastal walk.
 
Meet at the ticket gate of MisakiGuchi station on the Keihin Kyuko line at 9:30AM or Shinagawa station (meet in the front car of the Keihin Kyuko 8:18 train (David will already be in that car).

We will take the 9:43 bus from Misakiguchi to Arasaki (about 15-20 minutes)
 
David will also bring many garbage bags, received in cooperation with the Kanagawa “Beautify the Oceans” Foundation

After the event, anybody who is interested is welcome to join us to go to a party in Tsurumi!!!

Environmental Project Volunteering at Tama Zoo

Cutting down bamboo grass
(Cancelled in case of 70% or more chance of rain) 9:30AM – 2:30PM

Cost: 500 yen for insurance

We meet at 9:25AM at the front main entrance of Tama Zoo’s Station (Tama Dobutsukoen).
Take the 8:40AM Keio Line Semi-express from Shinjuku to Takahatafudo (arriving at 9:13AM) and change to the Keio Dobutsu Koen Line train, leaving Takahatafudo at 9:17 and arriving at Tama Dobutsu Koen Station  at 9:20AM.

If you would like to participate, please inform David by July 9 so that we can get volunteer insurance. If you join this event, please bring the following: Long sleeved shirt and long pants (not shorts), work gloves, towel, and appropriate shoes (trekking shoes or hiking boots) are required.

Please bring whatever you want to eat for lunch, and drinks during the work project.

Int’l Friendship Sushi Party

From 6:30-9:30pm at the Polygon (behind the Oriental Bazaar on Omotesando) For JAMBO members, the cost is 3,500 yen for men and 3,000 yen for women w/reservation (foreigners get a 500 yen discount)(or plus 500 yen if you go directly without making a reservation). All beer, wine, cocktails, soft drinks + sushi buffet, garden salad, veggies, cheeses, breads, and pies for dessert included.

Japanese Speaking/Learning & Party with LVC!

外国人向きだから、英語の説明だけです。WONDERFUL OPPORTUNITY for foreigners living in Japan to learn Japanese in a friendly environment, make connections with Japanese who are actively involved with volunteerism, find short term and long term volunteer opportunities, and have a fun time sharing food, drink and conversation.
19:00 – 20:00 – Private or semi-private conversation/lesson in Japanese
20:00 – 21:30 – Participants can go to the nearby store to buy food/drinks they want and come back for an informal get-together in English or Japanese. Learn about volunteer opportunities, make friends with active bi-lingual speakers giving you the chance to expand your network and your perspective.

The Japanese volunteers for this event come from LVC (Language Volunteer Co-Talk), a group which is forming an international volunteer network in Tokyo. This event will be held at JAMBO SCHOOL on the second Friday of each month for as long as there is a demand.

We will meet at the gate of Daiyuuzan station (Daiyuuzan line) at 9:35 AM.

If you’d like to go with Wai, please meet at the front of the Odakyu Line platform of Machida Station at 8:06AM.

Take the following train: Odakyu Line Shinjuku station 7:31AM – Odawara station 9:03AM. From there, we take the 9:12 Daiyuzan train (270 yen) to Daiyuzan Station (arriving at 9:33). Then we take the bus (No.1) going to Saijoji Temple, leaving at 9:48 and arriving at 9:58

We will be unable to wait for latecomers.

: Saijoji Temple (a spectacular temple) – Myoujingatake  (nice views of Mt. Fuji in good weather) – Miyagino – Hot Springs or take the bus Hakone Yumoto Station – Hakone Yumoto

The total walking time for the hike will be about four and a half hours. There’s a Hot Springs option after the hike, please bring a change of clothes and a towel if you wish to join.

Chiba Nokogiri-yama course

From Chiba Station, take the Uchibo Line at 9:04AM. This arrives at Hamakanaya Station at 10:29. Definitely make this train as the trains are very infrequent! The transport fee is 1110 yen one way from Chiba to Hamakanaya.

If you want to ride with others, get on the front car of the train at Chiba Station.

Walking time: About 5 hours Course: Hamakanaya Station – Mountain Peak
(Temple’s Gate) – Lookout point, Sengen Shrine – Kannon – Jigoku
Nozoki (Peeping into hell)- Stone Buddha – JR Hota Station

Features: A wonderful view of Tokyo Bay from the top; 1500 Rakans; the Giant Buddha Stone Statue, “Peeping into Hell” Near Hota.

Chichibu Pilgrimage and Muse Park

Meeting Time & Place: 10:45AM at Seibu Chichibu Station’s ticket gate
 
Take the Seibu Ikebukuro Line Express train from Ikebukuro Station at 9:03AM.  This arrives at Hanno Station (the final destination) at 9:50AM.  Change here to the Seibu Chichibu Line (which leaves at 9:53) and get off at Seibu Chichibu Station (the last stop) (arriving at 10:43AM).
 
Meet on the front of the 9:03 train at Ikebukuro if you want to go from there.
 
Hiking Course:  SeibuChichibu Station – 3 shrines on the pilgrimage path – Muse Park (with a spring and observation tower) – Music Shrine – Seibu Chichibu Station 

The hiking time is about 4 hours.
