All Night Concert (in Okutama) under the moon in the woods

Moonlit Acoustic Music in the Forest. Sat. Midnight to Sun. Dawn

A JAMBO – Light Footprint joint event1
1:00 AM to 8:30 AM

Guests are welcome to bring a musical instrument and join in.

We have a beautiful venue which is designed as a forest stroll for handicapped nature lovers.  It is wheelchair accessible, and only a short walk from the station..  The concert is from midnight to dawn, technically on Sunday, the 27th of September, but you have to leave Tokyo late Saturday night to arrive on or before the last train.   Here is the data:

We’ll meet at the last train, last stop — Okutama station at 00:40.  (The last departure from Shinjuku is at 22:40 Saturday on the Chuo Line, arriving in Tachikawa at 23:12 and changing there to the Oume line, leaving at 23:21 and arriving in Okutama at 00:33) We then stroll up through the sleeping town and forest to the top of a path that has several performance spaces, seats and tables, a little stream, a well-lit toilet… Candle lanterns and live music in the open air by the light of the moon.  Please bring your own midnight snack, there is no catering. It will be cool enough for a sweater or a second long-sleeve layer. Sampling others’ beverages seems likely, so bring a cup or glass.  Also, a flashlight or headlamp, a musical instrument ( in case impromptu jams with the professional musicians ). Pat will pack in the telescope so we can moon gaze with resolution ( but bring any optics – binoculars, opera glasses- that you might have to point at the  moon).  Pat will also bring some hammocks for recumbent listening pleasure. A yoga mat could enhance the experience of looking upward while listening….

Between sets, we’ll walk down to the next stage and settle in for some more acoustic tunes.

Cost: ¥3000 (which includes the JAMBO hiking event on Sunday).
This event is limited to 30 people and reservations can be made with Pat Utley at  pat@global-language.biz.

After the last set, we’ll make our way back to the train station in time for first train – the 05:07, which gets one into Shinuku before 7. Or stay and come down to the riverside for a campfire and cowboy coffee.  Then spend the morning in the mountain air and join the JAMBO hike.  Or there is a month-long Arts Festival going on in Okutama, so you can visit exhibitions, explore hiking trails, nap in the shade by the river….
