Meeting Place&Time: Takahatafudo Station (Keio Line) at 11:42 amTrain:  From Shinjuku station, take the Keio Line (Semi Express) train at11:07 am going towards Takao Sanguchi and get off at Takahatafudo Station at 11:40 am.

Course:  Takahatafudo Station (Keio Line) – Takahatafudo-son Temple (7500 hydrangeas of 20 different species) – Katarai Path – Tama Zoo Park (Tama-Dobutsu-Koen) Station – Nanao Hills Walking Course  – Mogusaen Station

Walking Time: About 4 Hours (10 km)

We will stay in the Takahatafudo-son Temple area until 12:45 pm to eat and see the beautiful hydrangeas. So latecomers who arrive by 12:30 pm can meet us at the temple. From there, we will walk to Tama Zoo (Tama-Dobutsu-Koen) Station using mostly a nature course, arriving at about 3 pm. If you want to join from this point, please arrive at the station by 3 pm. And if anyone wants to quit the walk here to go home or go to the zoo, you may do so. From here, we walk on the Nanao Hills Walking Course to Mogusaen Station (on the Keio Line). We plan to finish at 5:30 pm.

9:23 Leave at Zushi station (JR Yokosuka Line going towards Kurihama)
9:26 Arrive at Higashi Zushi station

The hiking time is about 5 hours.

Hiking Course: Higashi Zushi Station – Batou Goddess of Mercy – Morito Forest Path – Adventure Course – Mt. Sengen Hiking Course – Hayama Hydrangea Park –  Morito Beach (eat, drink, beach fun) – ShinZushi Station

Edogawa River Clean up

SCHEDULE

Gather at Barakinakayama Station: 13:00
Arrive at river: 13:30 (behind the Clean Spa)
River Clean Up: 13:30-16:30
Relaxing riverside: 16:30-17:00
Return to station by Car: 17:00-17:15

RIVER CLEAN UP
Gather at Barakinakayama Station (Tozai Line) outside the only ticket gate at 13:00., and then go to the Edogawa River by car and pick up trash along the banks for about about 3 hours.

OPTIONAL MORNING SESSION
As I will be on the river in the morning doing some scouting and precleaning, people are welcome to join me at that time, but please make specific arrangements with me by e-mail, arrival time, meet up location, etc.

INFO:
If you come late, it will be about a 25-min walk to our location behind the Clean Center / Clean Spa. Just walk to the river from the station and the head in the direction of Tokyo Bay until you see us along the water line. The Clean Spa also has courtesy shuttle buses running from the station. Also call James’ (the organizer) cell phone 090-1847-5075 if there are any problems finding us.

RAIN:
In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled as we will move to and from the river by car and we can clean up under cover the bay front bridges as a Plan B as well as adjacent areas using rain ware. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds (e.g., typhoon conditions) or lightning then the event will be cancelled.

Kokubunji & Todoroki Gorge Walk

Meeting Time: 11:50 am at the Kitami Station (on the Odakyuu Line) ticket gate.

Course: Kitami Station → Kitami Playground Area (Lunch) → Walk along the Nogawa River →  Jidayubori Park’s Old Farm House Garden → Okamoto Park’s Old Farm House Garden → Tama River (We’ll eat, drink, play frisbee and hang out on the riverbank, people who want to leave may go to nearby FutagoTamagawa Station) → Todoroki Gorge → Todoroki Station

Walking distance: About 9 km

1) OKUTAMA HIKING – Takamizu 3 Peaks!
(Intermediate Course) (1000 yen) (Cancelled in case of rain)

Course: Mitake Station – Mt. Sougaku – Mt. Iwatakeishi – Mt. Takamizu – Ikusabata Station

Meeting Place/Time: Mitake Station Ticket Gate at 10:36AM
Take the 9:08AM Chuo Line Super Express train from Shinjuku Station (going towards Oume).  This arrives at Oume Station at 10:07AM. Go across the platform and take the 10:13AM train  going towards Okutama. Depending on the sites, the train arrives at either 10:31 or 10:34.

Be sure to arrive by this time since we will be unable to wait for the next train.  From here, we do a 4.5 hour hike to Ikusabata Station.

Please wear appropriate shoes (tennis shoes, hiking boots), bring a lunch to eat on the mountain, and plenty of liquids. In order to avoid crowding at supermarkets and convenient stores, please bring your lunch with you to the meeting place.  We will not stop at any stores after meeting.

Nijikai Dinner at nearby restaurant: 17:30-18:30

RIVER CLEAN UP

Gather at FUNABORI Station (Shinjuku Line) outside the ticket gate at 13:00, and then go to the Arakawa River and pick up trash along the river bank for about about 3 to 3 and half hours.

NIJIKAI DINNER (optional)

Some participants may go for dinner at a nearby restaurant or weather/daylight permitting we could picnic riverside with some bentos bought at a nearby convenience store. The schedule will be flexible and up to the members who want to stay for a nijikai.

MORNING SESSION (optional)

As I will be on the river in the morning doing some scouting and precleaning, people, who may not be free in the afternoon, are welcome to join me at that time, but please make specific arrangements with me by e-mail, arrival time, location, etc.

Edogawa River Walk

Edogawa River Walk ((Shinozaki Park, Historic Huge Pine Tree, Iris Garden, Shibamata)
(EASY)(¥1000 Participation Fee (Children free)) (Canceled in case of rain)

Meeting time and place: 12:12 at Shinozaki Station’s ticket gate (on the Toei Shinjuku Line, about a 40 minute ride from Shinjuku Station).

We will walk through Shinozaki Park, down to the Edogawa River, and see the beautiful (famous) pine tree at Zenyouji Temple, the blooming Iris flowers at Koiwa Iris Garden, and go sightseeing at Shibamata Taishakuten.

Walking distance: About 7 KM (This is a short, easy hike and we plan to finish at around 4:30)

We will have lunch at Shinozaki park.  In order to avoid crowding at supermarkets and convenient stores, please bring your lunch with you to the meeting place.  We will not stop at any stores after meeting.

May 31 (Sunday) Discover, Explore, Enjoy Open Gardens in Kodaira  (Easy)

(Easy)(¥1000 Participation Fee) (Cancelled in case of heavy rain)

Kodaira is promoting its abundance of nature and green environment. Let’s take a walk and enjoy the beauty of nature and communicate through nature.

☆The program is ¥1000.
☆Meeting Time/Place: 10:00 Seibu Haijima Line Higashi-yamatoshi Station ticket gate
☆Course: Higashi-yamatoshi Station – Morita Open Garden – Shibayama Garden – Flor Corbeille – Irori-no-sato – Udonya Nekozaka – Takanodai Station
☆Walking Time: About 2 hours (about 8km) plus a lot of time for sightseeing so the walk should take about 3 hours.
☆ The donation will be given to Riasunomori – an organization in Ishinomaki which works for community development.

Please understand that no reservations will be accepted after that. The lottery results will be announced to all applicants at around 12 – 13 pm on May 29 (Fri). Reply will be made only when the results have been decided.

Take the 9:41 Oume line train from Oume going towards Okutama. It arrives in Okutama at 10:24 am (Make sure to be on this train as we cannot wait for the next one)

Course: Okutama station → Atago Shrine →  Nokogiri-yama (1109 meters) → Okutama station
Please wear good shoes, bring lunch and drink (In order to avoid crowding at supermarkets and convenient stores, please bring your lunch with you to the meeting place.  We will not stop at any stores after meeting).

Walking time: about 4.5 hours (13km)
