Meeting Place/Time: Saruhashi Station (Chuo Line) Ticket Gate 9:53 am

Train: Since trains are running infrequently, we won’t be able to wait for the next train.  We need to start the hike as scheduled, so we can’t attend to latecomers.  Please make sure to arrive by the appointed meeting time.

Take the 9:18 train from Takao (JR Chuo Line going towards Kofu) and get off at Saruhashi Station, arriving at 9:50.

Course: Saruhashi Station – Gozen-yama – Mt. Kikuka – Ootsuki Station

Walking time: about 3.5 hours.

Please wear appropriate shoes for the hike and bring lunch and drinks

RIVER CLEAN UP
Gather at Myoden Station (Tozai Line) outside the only ticket gate, and
then go to the Edogawa River and pick up trash along the banks for
about
 3.5 to 4 hours

INFO
If you come late, it will be about a 25-min walk to our location
between the Bay front bridges and the New Myoden Bridge. From
the
station, walk to the new Myoden Bridge, cross the river, and then
along 
the river bank until between the two bridges and look for us at
the

RAIN
In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled
as we will move to and from the river by car and we can clean up
under
cover the bay front bridges as a Plan B as well as adjacent areas
using

typhoon
 conditions) or lightning then the event will be cancelled.

Those who wish to go with David, please meet at Hino Station (on the Chuo Line) ticket gate at 9:25. We will take the 9:30 bus from there (15 minutes).

Work hours: 10:00 – 15:30
 (Cutting down bamboo grass, cutting down old trees, carrying logs, raking leaves)

Please wear long pants and long-sleeved shirt and exercise shoes.

1) Ranzan Gorge Fall Color Hiking

Meeting Place/Time: MusashiRanzan Station Ticket Gate at 9:45 am

Train: Please make sure to come at the appointed time.

If you are coming from Ikebukuro, take the Tobu Tojo (Express towards Ogawamachi) Line’s 8:36 am train and get off at MusashiRanzan Station, arriving at 9:43 am.

Ranzan Gorge is well-known for its beautiful maple trees.

Course:  Musashi-Ranzan Station – Ranzan Gorge – Mt. Monomi – Mt.Shiroyama –Mt. Sengen (299m)   – Ogawamachi Station

We will have a 5 hour walk up a few small mountains (with the highest being 299m) and into a gorge.

Please wear appropriate shoes for a hike and bring a lunch and plenty of liquids.

 

2) Fall Color Walk in Ogikubo
(¥1000 Participation Fee) (¥300 Admission)(Cancelled in case of heavy rain)

Have a blast with fall color. Otaguro Park is a lovely layout, with viewing pavilions, stone bridges, a pond, a waterfall, and a variety of color. The main path leading to the Japanese garden – lined with century-old ginkgo trees – glows in vibrant yellow, while the garden’s fiery red maples are illuminated and mirrored on the still pond, creating picture-perfect photo ops at night.

☆Course: Ogikubo Station North Exit – Amanuma Overpass – Aurora Monument – Gandhi Statue – Otaguro Park – Ogikubo Station

WHAT TO BRING
Wear old clothing that you do not mind getting dirty, and please wear
long pants. Bare legs are not recommended because they can easily get
cut from objects like cut river reeds. Also, a hat is recommended,
especially during the summer months, and please bring lots of liquids to
drink. Bringing gloves is also recommended but we usually have some
extra pairs available to loan out. Then please come with proper footwear
or not sandals and so on.

ADDITIONAL INFO
If you come late, it will be about a 25 min. walk to our location on
the island under the elevated C2 highway between the Kasaibashi Bridge
iand the Shinjuku Line train bridge but much closer to the Shinjuku Line

Please bring rain gear and we will take shelter (under a bridge) until
any downpours let up. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds (e.g.,

South Takao Ridge Hike & Hachioji Ginkgo Tree Lined Street

Meeting time and place : 9:00 am in front of the ticket gate of Takaosanguchi Station of the Keio Line.

Train: Take the 10:43 Keio Line (going towards Takaosanguchi) from Kitano, arriving at Takaosanguchi Station at 8:57.

Course: Takaosanguchi Station – Nishiyama Pass – Mt.Taikouji → Mt. Enokubo → (Shiroyama Lake view) → Mt.Kusato – Hachioji Ginkgo Tree Lined Street – Takao Station

Walking time: 5 hours

The tall grasses there cover the hillside for hundreds of meters, changing color with the seasons and offering stunning views, especially during the autumn when the grasses turn a shimmering, silvery gold color. The temple grounds are one of Hakone’s nicer spots to enjoy the autumn colors.

We well take a bus leaving at 10:00. We will be unable to wait for the next bus. Please be sure to arrive by the appointed meeting time.

Mt. Ohno Hiking & Shasui Waterfall

Meeting Place/Time: JR Gotemba Line’s Yaga Station Ticket Gate at 10:23 am

Please come by the appointed time as we can’t attend to the latecomers.
Trains (JR Gotenba Line) are running very infrequently and we need to start

Train: Matsuda Station (JR Gotemba Line) departing at 10:08  – Yaga Station 10:21

Course: Yaga Station – Mt. Ohno (723 M) – Shasui Waterfall – Yamakita Station

Walking Time: About 5.5 hours

Be sure to bring your lunch and drinks.  Also, please wear the appropriate shoes for a hike.

This course includes the Shasui Waterfall, one of Japan’s top 100 waterfalls.
