1) Tokyo Area Green Walk

Meeting time and place: SeisekiSakuragaoka Station on the Keio Line at 9:55 am

Course: SeisekiSakuragaoka Station – Ono Shrine –  Ichinomiya Park –  Iroha Slope Park – Haramine Park –Sakuragaoka Park – Sakuragaoka  Green Area – Wakabadai Park  – Wakabadai Station

This walking course includes a walk along a river, a couple of green areas, several parks and a couple of shrines. It’s an easy, fun walk which should last about 4.5 hours (about 10 km)

Please bring your food and drink with you.

 

2) Tama River Clean Up

Organized by Tokyo River Friends

Gather at Kojimashinden Station (ticket gate): 13:00
River Clean Up: 13:30
Return to station 17:00

RIVER CLEAN UP
Gather at Kojimashinden Station outside the only ticket gate at 13:00
and then go to the Tamagawa River and pick up trash along the banks for
about about 3.5 to 4 hours.

INFO:
If you come late, it will be about a 25-min walk to our location under
or near the new Tamagawa Sky Bridge (But walk straight to the river
first as there is no access from the bridge.) Also call my cell phone
090-1847-5075 if there are any problems finding us.

RAIN:
In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled
as we will move to and from the river by car and we can clean up under
cover the bay front bridges as a Plan B as well as adjacent areas using
rain ware. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds (e.g., typhoon
conditions) or lightning then the event will be cancelled.

Okutama Hiking

★For this hike, we can’t accommodate latecomers since there is only one train running every 30 minutes.  We will start hiking as scheduled.

★There are no stores near the station, so please be sure to bring your own lunch.

Course: Miyanohira Station – Tengu Rock (Beautiful Views) – Akabokko – Kyuu-Futatsuzuka Pass – Oume Station

The course should take about 5 hours.

1) Mt. Otakatori hiking/Ogose Plum Blossom Festival
(Easy Intermediate Course) (1000 yen Participation Fee + 400 yen Park entrance fee)(Cancelled in case of rain)

Meeting Place/Time: Ogose Station ticket gate at 10:03 am

Train: If you go from Ikebukuro: Tobu Tojo Line Ikebukuro (express going towards Shinrin Koen) – 8:44, Sakado Arrival – 9:30.  Get off and change to the 9:36 Ogose Line train, Ogose Arrival – 10:00

Course: Ogose station → Hoonji Temple→ NishiYama Takatori → Mt.Otakatori → Ogose Plum Tree Park (festival)→ Ogose Station

Walking time: 4-5 hours.

Ogose Plum Tree Park, which should be in bloom and has 1,000 trees, with some being 670 years old.  We’ll enjoy the festival there before returning to Ogose Station.

Bring your own lunch and drinks.

(Canceled) Ootsuki (Cliff) Hiking Course

This event is canceled due to the bad weather – rain and snow.  (this hiking trail includes rocky sections, chain-link sections, and a few very slippery spots)

Meeting Place/Time: Ootsuki Station (Chuo Line) Ticket Gate 10:57 am

Train: From Takao Station, take the Chuo Line train (going towards
Ootsuki) at 10:18.
 This arrives at Ootsuki at 10:55.

Trains are not running frequently and we can’t wait for the next train.
Please come at the appointed time since we won’t be able to attend to
latecomers.

Course: Ootsuki Station – Mt. Iwadono – Chigootoshi Cliffs – Ootsuki Station

Walking time: about 4 hours.
Walking Distance: About 10 km

Please wear appropriate shoes for a hike and bring lunch to eat on the
mountain, and plenty of liquids.

Train: From Shinjuku, take the  Keio Line (Special Express towards Keio Hachioji) train at 9:28  and get off at Chofu Station, arriving at 9:37AM.  This arrives at HigashiFuchuu Station at 10:02.

Course:  HigashiFuchuu Station – SengenYama Municipal Park – Fuchuu Forest Park – Tama River Green Area – Kyodo Forest (Plum Festival &  Allspice)  – Fuchu Honmachi Station

Walking Time: About 5 Hours (10 km) – Half city walking and half in parks and green areas

Gather at Myoden Station (Tozai Line) outside the only ticket gate at 13:00, and then go to the Edogawa River and pick up trash along the banks for about about 3.5 to 4 hours.

If you come late, it will be about a 25-min walk to our location on the opposite side of the river from the Clean Spa under the bay front bridges. Change to the local train (going towards Takaosanguchi) leaving at
11:07.  This arrives at Naganuma Station at 11:25.

Environmental Restoration Project with FOE

(Participation Fee 500 yen) (Canceled in case of rain)

RESERVATIONS REQUIRED to David (jambodave@green.email.ne.jp ) by February 8 (Thur).

Meeting Place and time: 9:47 am at Utsugidai Bus Stop
Those who wish to go with David,  please meet at Hino Station (on the Chuo Line) ticket gate at 9:27.  We will take the 9:32 bus from there (15 minutes).

Work hours: 10:00 – 15:30
 (Cutting down old trees, carrying logs, chopping logs,  cleaning up the forest floor)

Please wear long pants and long-sleeved shirt and exercise shoes. Please bring your own drinks, food (for lunch) and work gloves.
