Zushi Hydrangea Walk

You can enjoy the rainy season with hydrangeas and stunning views of Mt. Fuji on a clear day.ed fields together.

☆Meeting Time/Place: 10:00 Keikyu Line Zushi Station North Ticket Gate

>☆Course: Zushi Hayama Station – Gandenji (red ink stamp) – Hiroyama Park – Hiroyama Garden Residence – Osaki Park – Zushi Hayama Station

☆Walking Time: 1.5 hours (less than 6km) plus a lot of time for sightseeing so the walk should take about 2 hours.

1) Kamakura Hiking and Beach
(Participation Fee 1000 yen)(Easy Course) (Will be held even in light rain)

Meeting place and time: At the West ticket gate of Kitakamakura Station (on the Yokosuka Line) at 10:23 am.

Train: From Yokohama Station, take the 10:01 Yokosuka Line train (towards Zushi).  This arrives at Kitakamakura at 10:21.

Course: Kitakamakura Station – Daibutsu Hiking Course (and Genjiyama Park) – “Wash your Money” Cave Shrine – Joju-in (coast view & hydrangea) – Yuigahama Beach – Kamakura Station

Walking Time: about 4 hours

Please bring your lunch and drinks.

 

2) Arakawa River Clean Up
Organized by Tokyo River Friends

Gather at FUNABORI Station: 10:00
Gather riverside 10:30
Finishing up: 14:30

RIVER CLEAN UP
Gather at FUNABORI Station’s only ticket gate, and then go to the
Arakawa River and pick up trash along the banks for about about 3.5 to 4
hours with a break in the middle

WHAT TO BRING
Wear old clothing that you do not mind getting dirty, and
please wear long pants. Bare legs are not recommended because they can
easily get cut from objects like cut river reeds. Also, a hat is
recommended, especially during the summer months, and please bring lots
of liquids to drink. Bringing gloves is also recommended but we usually
have some extra pairs available to loan out.

ADDITIONAL INFO
If you come late, it will be about a 30 min. walk to our location on
the island under the elevated C2 highway between the Shinjuku Train Line
bridge and the Kasaibashi Bridge (but much closer to the train bridge.)

RAIN
In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled.
Please bring rain gear and we will take shelter (under a bridge) until
any downpours let up. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds (e.g.,
typhoon conditions) or lightning then the event will be cancelled (and
usually moved to a different day).

Chichibu Hiking

Meeting Time/Place: 10:07 am at Shomaru Station Ticket Gate

Please make sure to get on this train as we can’t wait for the next one (40 minutes later) and won’t be able  to attend to latecomers for this hike.  

Train: From Hanno Station, take the 9:32 Seibu Chichibu line train (going towards Chichibu) and get off at Shomaru Station, arriving at 10:04.

Course:  Shomaru Station – Kawasaki Pass – Mt. Maruyama – Mt. Iimori (Dragon Valley Fuji) – NishiAgano Station

Walking Time: About 5 hours

Bring your own food & drink since there are no stores near Shomaru.

Please wear proper hiking shoes for the hike.

Edogawa River Clean Up

Organized by Tokyo River Friends

Gather at Myoden Station: 13:00
Riverside Meetup: 13:30
Return to station: 17:00

RIVER CLEAN UP
Gather at Myoden Station (Tozai Line) outside the only ticket gate, and
then go to the Edogawa River and pick up trash along the banks for about
3.5 to 4 hours

INFO
If you come late, it will be about a 25-min walk to our location between
the Bay front brdiges and the New Myoden Bridge. From the station, walk
to the new Myoden Bridge, cross the river, and then along the river bank
until between the two bridges and look for us at the water line. Also
call James’ (the organizer) cell phone 090-1847-5075 if there are any
problems finding us.

RAIN
In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled as
we will move to and from the river by car and we can clean up under
cover the bay front bridges as a Plan B as well as adjacent areas using
rain ware. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds (e.g., typhoon
conditions) or lightning then the event will be cancelled.

Meeting Place and time: 9:47 am at Utsugidai Bus Stop

Those who wish to go with David, please meet at Hino Station (on the Chuo Line) ticket gate at 9:25. We will take the 9:30 bus from there (15 minutes).

Work hours: 10:00 – 15:30
 (Cutting down bamboo grass, picking plums?)

Please wear long pants and long-sleeved shirt and exercise shoes.

Edogawa & Katsushika Bike Ride (Reservation Requested)

(Easy Course) (Participation Fee 1000 yen) (Canceled in case of rain)

100% of the participation fee for this event will go to World Bicycle Relief.  Additional donations from participants and non-participants are encouraged. Your donation empowers people in poorer countries with bicycles. Check the World Bicycle Relief website  – A WONDERFUL CAUSE so please be generous.

Meeting time and place: 8:45 Shibamata Station

Bring your bike or you can rent a bike near Shibamata Station (葛飾柴又レンタルサイクル). No reservation required for renting a bike, but bring your ID.  Miki and David will take you to the bike rental from Shibamata Station.

Meeting time and place: 10:00 am at the Todoroki Station (on the Tokyu Oimachi Line) ticket gate.

Course: Todoroki Station Kitami Station → Todoroki Gorge → Tama River (We’ll eat, drink, play frisbee and hang out on the riverbank, near FutagoTamagawa Station)  → Okamoto Park’s Old Farm House Garden →  Jidayubori Park’s Old Farm House Garden → Walk along the Nogawa River → → Kitami Playground Area  → Kitami Station

Walking distance: About 10 km (about 4 hours)

You can watch fireflies in Shinagawa. High schoolers are raising
fireflies in this  small place.

Chuo Line Hiking : Hidure Alps Course

(Participation Fee 1000 yen)(Intermediate Course) (Cancelled in case of rain)

Meeting Place/Time: At the ticket gate of JR Fujino Station at 11:00 am

PLEASE BE ON TIME SINCE WE WON’T BE ABLE TO ATTEND TO LATECOMERS.

Train to take: From Takao Station, take the 10:45 Chuo line train (local going towards Kobuchizawa) at 10:45 to JR Fujino station, arriving at 10:57.

Course: JR Fujino Station – Mt. Kongo – Mt.Hachioka – Mt. Hizure – Mt. Takara – JR Fujino Station

All of the mountains on ”Hizure Alps Hiking Course’ are relatively low.

Duration of a hike:  About 4 hours.

Please bring your lunch and drink. We will be having lunch on the first mountain (Mt.Kongo) about one hour after we start a hike since the view is supposed to be good there. Also, please wear proper hiking shoes.
