This course uses materials from the PEERS Transformation Course.  This course, as well as our monthly meetings, discuss a current topic and various ways action can be taken to deal with the issue.  Please look at the above links to see the contents and level of difficulty. 
While anyone is welcome, it is suggested that you understand the contents of the material and prepare beforehand to have deep conversation in English.

Okutama Hiking!

This is a Friends of the Earth Hike which JAMBO will join.
Bring your own food and drink!
Course:  Mt. Ootake – Rock Garden – 3 waterfalls
The hike is highlighted by the beautiful rock garden and magnificent views from Mt. Ootake.

Starting from the Kami-Yosawa bus stop we hike along a forest road to a waterfall, Nanayonotaki, just below Mt. Mitake. The route then goes through a beautiful rock garden and we have lunch at a second waterfall, Ayahirontaki. After lunch we climb to the top of Mt. Otake, where we can enjoy a panoramic view of the surrounding moutains. From the top we hike past a third waterfall, Otaki, to the Otake-Shounyudou bus stop, where we catch the bus back to Musashi-Itsukaichi Station.

Meeting time:
at 8:10am

place: at the front end of Platform 7 at JR Shinjuku station.
Walking hours: 5.0 hrs.

Note:
You can also meet us at the ticket barrier of Musashi Itsukaichi station at 9.21am.

Int’l Friendship Sushi Party

Nori Hike & Beer Garden & Clyde Party

Why not a drink beer hike? – Nori Hike & Beer Garden & Clyde Party, 1000 Yen, Not Difficult, We go even if it rains.
“Kirin beer village” Walk and party

Meet at Tsurumi Station(on the JR.Keihin tohoku Line)west exit ticket gate at 10:30AM

From Shinagawa Sta. take the JR Keihin Touhoku Line (Local) at 10:08. It arrives at Tsurumi at 10:27.

Course (1.5 hours walking 5KM): Tsurumi Station – Soutoku Temple – Walk along the Namamugi Uogashi St.-

Kirin beer village Park – Koyasudai park – Namamugi Sta.- Tsurumi Sta. – Clyde’s house for Party.

We will have free 3 glasses of fresh beer at Beer factory in the beautiful Beer village Park (http://www.kirin.co.jp/about/brewery/factory/yokohama/tour.html) after the walk. We will return back to Tsurumi Sta. around 16:30 and then going to David’s friend’s Clyde’s house for a party.

If you would like to join Clyde’s party (on the 11th floor overlooking the Tsurumi River), we will meet at (Keikyuu)Tsurumi Station’s ticket gate around 16:30.

Bring your own food and drink (which you can buy near Tsurumi Station) for the party.

Chichibu Azalea Hiking Course!

+ 200 Yen Entrance Fee for the Azalea Festival) (In case of rain, to to Showa Memorial Park (See Below))

We will meet at the ticket gate of Higashi Moro at 10:10AM. From Ikebukuro, take the Tobu Tojo Line’s Express Train at 9:01 and change at Sakado (arriving here at 9:45) to the Tobu Ogose Line. Take the 9:54AM Tobu Ogose Line train to Higashi Moro Station. It arrives there at 10:09AM. 
If you’d like to go together from Ikebukuro, get on the front of the 9:01 Tobu Tojo Line train from there.

The walking time itself is about 4 hours. Should be a lot of fun! The train fare is 630 Yen one-way from Ikebukuro. 

If it rains, we will go to the Showa Park Flower Festival, meeting at the Nishi Tachikawa (Ome Line) ticket gate at 11:27AM. (There will be no JAMBO fee but the park entrance fee is 400 Yen)

JAMBO BARBEQUE & SALSA DANCE EVENT!

Limit: 50 people

JAMBO will provide barbecue equipment, yakisoba noodles, seafood, and soft drinks in the park. People should bring whatever other food, snacks, and alcohol they want (which you can buy near the station).  Benches are sparse, bring blankets. Reservations can be made to David (at jambointernational@green.email.ne.jp).   First come, first served (up to 50 people)

Salsa Dance Teacher Introduction:
Armando Torres Paez has an impressive backgroundIn Cuba, Armando has been working with the professional dance group,“Tiempo Havana” as a first dancer
which performs at theaters and on TV in Cuba.   His students won two gold medals at the competition in Havana .   He gives classes for popular dance
incuding salsa and Folkloricos.   In 2011 he came to Japan and teaches how to enjoy salsa!

Okutama Hike

(Bring your own beverages and lunch box)

Meet at the JR Ohme Line’s Okutama Station’s Ticket Gate at 10:25AM.  From Shinjuku, take the Chuo Line Holiday Special Express going towards Okutama at 8:47. This goes all the way to Okutama Station, arriving at 10:24AM (but be sure to get on the right part of the train which goes to Okutama, and beware that the platform may not be the regular Chuo Line Platform at Shinjuku).  Be sure to arrive on this train as we will be unable to wait for the next one.
 
The hike will be Okutama Station – Anjizawa – Mt. Honida – Mt. Kobutaka – Mt. One Shrine – Hatonosu Station

The hiking time is about 5 hours.

Cherry Blossom HIKING in Chichibu

  We will have a 4.5 hour hike that takes us up 2 low mountains and around a big lake (Tsuburada Lake) surrounded by cherry trees.
 
             Course:  Yorii Station – Mt. Kinsho – Taisho Pond – Mt. Kanetsukido – Tsuburada Lake – Mt. Rakan – Yorii Station
 
From Ikebukuro, take the  Tobu Tojo (Express) Line’s 9:30AM train and get off at Ogawamachi Station, arriving at 10:40AM. Change here to the local train going the same direction towards Yorii, getting on the 10:43 train which arrives at Yorii Station at 10:58AM. Make sure to get on this train as we cannot wait for the next one.
 
People going from Ikebukuro Station can meet at the front end of the train on the Tobu Tojo Line platform at 9:28, or meet at Yorii’s ticket gate at 11:00.

Ashinaga (Support for Tohoku Orphans) (www.ashinaga.org/en/) – Many children and adolescents have been hit hard by the recent earthquake and tsunami. To provide them with the care that they need, Ashinaga is building a “Rainbow House” facility in northern Japan for this.
