After the hike, we’ll hang out on the riverside and have a good time swimming there, so bring your swimsuit and towel.

Course: Musashi Yokote Station – Kusumi Slope – Mt. Ookuro – Mt. Toonosu – Iruma River (Swimming) – Kahara River Bank – Hanno Station
Walking time: About 4 hours
From Ikebukuro, take the Seibu Ikebukuro (Express) Line’s 9:50AM train and get off at Hanno Station, arriving there at 10:40AM. Change to the Seibu Chichibu Line (across the platform), taking the 10:44 train. This arrives at Musashi Yokote at 11:00. Make sure to get on this train as we cannot wait for the next one.
People going from Ikebukuro Station can meet at the front end of the train on the Seibu Ikebukuro Line platform at 9:50, or meet at Musashi Yokote’s ticket gate at 11:02.
Please wear appropriate shoes (tennis shoes, hiking boots), bring a lunch to eat on the mountain, and plenty of liquids.
Since we’ll be swimming in the river, also bring your swimsuit and towel.

19:00 – 20:00 – Private or semi-private conversation/lesson in Japanese
20:00 – 21:30 – Participants can go to the nearby store to buy food/drinks they want and come back for an informal get-together in English or Japanese. Learn about volunteer opportunities, make friends with active bi-lingual speakers giving you the chance to expand your network and your perspective.
Today’s theme will include a discussion of different food cultures around the world (including Africa and the Middle East where some members have visited).
The Japanese volunteers for this event come from LVC (Language Volunteer Co-Talk), a group which is forming an international volunteer network in Tokyo. This event will be held at JAMBO SCHOOL on the second Friday of each month for as long as there is a demand.

Meet at the ticket gate of Kawai Station (on the Oume Line) at 10:35 AM.
Take the Chuo/Oume Line express train (going towards Oume) at 9:09 from Shinjuku, arriving at Oume Station at 10:07. Change to the 10:09 Oume line train (going towards Okutama). This arrives at Kawai Station at 10:32.
David will get on the front of the Chuo Line train at Nakano Station at 9:13AM.

The hike will be Tomiura Station – Hokkezaki Peninsula – Tatara Coast – Daibusami Peninsula Green Road and Park – Observation Point – Tadara Beach
After the hike, we’ll enjoy time on the beach.
The walking time is about 3.5 hours.

We will go out to Tadara Beach (Beach on the Tokyo Bay near Tomiura Station) on Saturday night. We can watch the sunset (since the beach faces west) and then eat, drink and enjoy the beach that night as well as the next day.
Please bring your swimsuit, sleeping bag and tent (you can sleep directly on the sand, but may get eaten up by sand flies), beach toys, food and drink. There is a supermarket near the station where we can buy drinks and food, however the food selection may be limited.

Bring food for lunch and drinks.
We will go to Arasaki on the Miura Peninsula. This is a coastline hike with nice sea views, beaches and caves. We will meet at Misakiguchi station on the Keihin Kyuko (Keikyuu) Line at 9:30AM. From Shinagawa station, take the 8:18AM Keihin Kyuko Line train bound for Kurihama. Get off at Kurihama station at 9:11 and change to the 9:17 Keikyuu line going towards Misakiguchi. Get off at the last station (Misakiguchi). It arrives there at 9:29AM. This is an easy hike, so bring a plastic bag and we’ll pick up garbage on Nagahama Beach (at the end of the coastal walk.
Meet at the ticket gate of MisakiGuchi station on the Keihin Kyuko line at 9:30AM or Shinagawa station (meet in the front car of the Keihin Kyuko 8:18 train (David will already be in that car).
We will take the 9:43 bus from Misakiguchi to Arasaki (about 15-20 minutes)
David will also bring many garbage bags, received in cooperation with the Kanagawa “Beautify the Oceans” Foundation
