We meet at 9:30AM at the front main entrance of Tama Zoo’s Station (Tama Dobutsukoen).
Take the 8:47AM Keio Line Semi-express from Shinjuku to Takahatafudo (arriving at 9:21AM) and change to the Keio Dobutsu Koen Line train, leaving Takahatafudo at 9:25 and arriving at Tama Dobutsu Koen Station at 9:28AM.
If you would like to participate, please inform David by March 10 so that we can get volunteer insurance. If you join this event, please bring the following: Long sleeved shirt and long pants (not shorts), work gloves, towel, and appropriate shoes (trekking shoes or hiking boots) are required.
Please bring whatever you want to eat for lunch, and drinks during the work project.

Take Seibu-Chichibu line from Hanno at 10:44am (Seibu-Ikebukuro line

car from Hanno.
Hiking route: Musashi Yokote station – Gojo no taki (waterfall) – Monomi
Yama (375m) – Mt Hiwada – Kotohira shrine – Kinchakuda riverside park – Koma station.
Walking Time: 4 Hours
Please don’t forget to have your rucksack and exercise shoes or hiking boots to avoid your injury.

We will meet at the ticket gate of Ogose at 9:55AM. From Ikebukuro, take the Tobu Tojo Line’s Express Train at 8;42 and change at Sakado (arriving here at 9:26) to the Tobu Ogose Line. Take the 9:35AM Tobu Ogose Line train to the end (Ogose Station). It arrives at Ogose at 9:53AM. From here, we hike by a nice temple, up and down a few small mountains, and down to Ogose Plum Tree Park, which should be in bloom and has 1,000 trees, with some being 600 years old.
The walking time itself is about 5 hours. Should be a lot of fun! The train fare is 720 Yen one-way.
If you’d like to go from Ikebukuro, get on the front of the 8:42 train at Ikebukuro Station.

Picnic and Plum Blossom Viewing in Shinjuku Gyoen

Meeting Place and Time: Exit A1 of the Shinjuku SanChoume Station (on the Murunouchi or Fukutoshin Line) at 12:30
The program is ¥1000 and includes explanations of plants along the way in English. Everyone is requested to use English only for the first hour. After that, people may speak in their preferred language, but David will use only English during the walk for the first 2 hours. We’ll do a small quiz about nature during the picnic.
12:30 – 13:30 – Walk to Shinjuku Gyoen (and stop at a Convenience Store to buy food (for those who didn’t bring a lunch) (English Only Please)
13:30 – 14:30 – Picnic and Animal/Plant Game (in English)

From Shinjuku, take the Keio Line (Semi Special Express) train at 9:27AM and get off at Chofu Station, arriving at 9:43AM. Change to the local train (going towards Keio Hachiouji) leaving at 9:49. This arrives at HigashiFuchuu Station at 9:57. We’ll meet at the ticket gate there at 10:00AM.
People going from Shinjuku Station can meet at the front end of the train at 9:27.
