OKUTAMA HIKE & Hossawa Waterfall!

Meet at the ticket gate of MusashiItsukaichi Station (the last stop of the Itsukaichi Line) at 8:50AM. From the station, we will take the 9:00AM bus (900 yen, 59 minutes) going to Sengen-one Tozan Guchi.  We will hike up to Henbori Pass, Mt. Sengen and then down to Hossawa Waterfall (The hiking time is 4.5 hours).  From there we will take the bus back to MusashiItsukaichi Station (470 yen, 33 minutes).

From Shinjuku, take the Special Holiday Express, going towards MusashiItsukaichi at 7:44.  This is the Chuo Line, but leaves from platform #11.  Please be careful and get on the part of the train going to Musashi Itsukaichi (the last stop).  It arrives there at 8:48AM.

Make sure to arrive at this time since we must catch a bus.

Meet on the front car of the train at Shinjuku at 7:44 if you want to go from there there. One way from Shinjuku is 780 yen.
 
David will get on the first car of the same train at Nakano Station.

Chichibu Hiking and End of the Year Party/Christmas Illuminations! (Reservation required for the party)

The End of the Year Party will be held even if the hike is canceled.

○About hiking

We will meet at the ticket gate of Higashi Moro at 9:55AM. From Ikebukuro, take the Tobu Tojo Line’s Express Train (going towards Ogawamachi) at 9:00 and change at Sakado (arriving here at 9:37) to the Tobu Ogose Line. Take the 9:39AM Tobu Ogose Line train to Higashi Moro Station.  It arrives there at 9:53AM.  If you’d like to go together from Ikebukuro, get on the front of the 9:00 Tobu Tojo Line train from there.

COURSE: Higashi Moro Station – Kamakita Lake – Shuzutani Waterfall – Moroyama Sogo Park – Higashi Moro Station.  Please feel free to take a look at the course at here:

The walking time itself is about 5 hours. Should be a lot of fun! The train fare is 650 Yen one-way from Ikebukuro. Please bring your own food and drink.

 

About the-end-of-the-year party

We will have an end-of-the-year party at a Japanese Pub (from 18:00) in Ikebukuro. Reservations are needed by December15(Thu) 9 pm.  Please make a reservation to Miki at ( nawatobi1335@gmail.com ).  First 30 people will be accepted.

It is an 11 course, all-you-can-drink course for ¥4000 (2 hours) at Ikebukuro’s YuYu Japanese Pub.

<<About the cancellation fee>>  Due to the busy winter season, you will be asked to pay 80 % of the cancellation fee anytime if the cancelation is made after 5 pm on December 16 (Fri).  So, please make sure to cancel before this time and date if necessary.   Contact Miki at ( nawatobi1335@gmail.com ).  After the party, we will see the Christmas illuminations there.

Kamakura Fall Colors Hiking!

(Participation Fee 1000 yen + Temple Entrances)

Bring your own food and drinks.

We will meet at the east ticket gate of Kamakura Station (on the Yokosuka/JRShounanShijuku Line) at 9:55AM. From Yokohama Station, take the 9:21AM JR YokosukaLine train (towards Zushi). This arrives at Kamakura at 9:51AM.
 
If you’d like to go with David, please meet at the front of the JR Yokosuka Line train at Yokohama Station at 9:21AM.

Hiking Course:  Kamakura Station – Myohonji – GionYama Hiking Course – Zuisenji – Tenen Hiking Course – Kanazawa Nature Park – Kanazawa Bunko Station

This is a 10 Km walk with about 5 hours walking time.
The total time of the course should be about 6 hours.

The selected temples and park are well-known for the maples and Ginko trees which should be in full color!!!

Wear good walking shoes.

Tokyo Fall Colors Walk (in English)

(Children free)

The program is ¥1000 and everyone is requested to use English only for the first hour. After that, people may speak in their preferred language, but David will use only English during the walk for the first 2 hours.
Meeting Place/Time: Chiyoda Line’s Kasumigaseki Station Exit C4 at 12:00

Course:

12:00 – 13:30 – Walk through Hibiya Park and have lunch (We’ll stop at a convenience store before going to the park if you want to get something)

13:30 – 14:30 – Take a walk around the palace grounds and go to Kita no Maru Park

14:30 – 15:30 – Go to Yasukuni Shrine to see the beautiful line of Gingko trees

15:30 Finish up

OKUTAMA SUPER DOUBLE EVENT!

Part 1

(Intermediate Course) (1000 yen Participation Fee for both hikes) (Cancelled in case of rain)

The first part is an intermediate four hour hike. 

Course: Kawai Station – Mt. Iwatakeishi – Mt. Takamizu- Ikusabata Station

Meeting Place/Time: Kawai Station Ticket Gate at 8:54AM

We meet at Kawai Station at  8:54AM. Take the 7:12AM Chuo Line Express train from Shinjuku Station.  This arrives at Tachikawa Station at 7:48AM.  Change there to the 7:57 Ome Line train, going toward Okutama. This train arrives at Kawai Station at 8:52AM.  Be sure to arrive by this time since we will be unable to wait for the next train. 

From here, we do a 4 hour hike to Ikusabata Station.  We will meet other people there at 1:02PM for the following river hike.
 
David will get on the Oume Line train at Haijima Station at 8:09.
 
Please wear appropriate shoes (tennis shoes, hiking boots), bring a lunch, and plenty of liquids.

We will meet people at Ikusabata Station at 1:00 and have lunch there or on the riverside thereafter.
 
Part 2
(Easy Course, Cancelled in case of rain) (500 yen  Participation Fee)

A refreshing walk along the river in Okutama viewing the fall colors!

Meeting Place and Time: The ticket gate of Ikusabata Station (on the Ome Line) at 13:02PM
(For those going there from Tachikawa, board the 12:07PM train going to Oume.  This arrives in Oume at 12:42.  Change in Oume to the 12:47 train going to Okutama and get off at Ikusabata at 13:01PM.) 

Take a walk along the river and see the fall colors.  An easy hike especially for children!
Bring a lunch and liquids.

Mt.Sengenyama Fall Colors Hiking in Hakone

We will meet at the gate of Miyanoshita station( Hakonetozan line) at 10:20 AM.
 
7:51  Depart Shinjuku on the Odakyu Line (Express)
9:26 Arrive at Odawara
9:30  Depart Odawa  on the Hakone Tetsudo (railway) going towards Hakone Yumoto
9:45 Arrive at Hakone Yumoto
9:51 Depart Hakone Yumoto on the Hakone Tetsudo (railway) going towards Gora

If you’d like to go from Shinjuku, get on the front of the 7:51 Odakyu Line train at Shinjuku Station. David will get on the first car at Shimokitazawa Station.

Course: Miyanoshita Station – SengenYama (802 meters) – Shiroyama – HakoneYumoto 

The total course time for the hike will be about 4 hours.

There are many hot springs in the Hakone Yumoto area, so if you want to go, please bring a change of clothes and a towel! (This is not part of the Jambo program however.)
