Half of your admission fee will be donated to Tokyo River Friends. So you can have an enjoyable evening and help a good cause at the same time. If you’d like to go with David, please meet at Exit 3 of Kamiyacho Station’s Hibiya Line at 7:00PM on the 8th.

1) Bicycle Ride

Bicycle reservations are required by May 31!

Enjoy a ride through the fresh greenery in Musashino with a ride from Mitaka to Tama Lake!
We will ride through some residential areas and some parks from Mitaka station, where we will take breaks, play frisbee, etc. On the way, you can buy food/drink at a supermarket or convenience store, before arriving at Tama Lake, where we’ll have a picnic. After the picnic, those who want can ride around the lake (about 1 hour) while others can do yoga (following an instructor who will be there) in the park.
For people who need to rent a bicycle, please come to Mitaka Station’s south exit Police box at 9:30. Hiro and David will meet you there and go to Susuzake Bicycle Rental: http://www.mitaka.ne.jp/machidukuri/rentalcycle/index.html to rent bikes. The cost is ¥300 /day and the number of bicycles is limited, so please do not come late.
If you’d like us to make a bicycle reservation for you, contact jambodave@green.email.ne.jp in advance.
If you have your own bicycle, meet us at 10:00am at Mitaka Station south exit bus terminal.
Please bring snacks and foods for the picnic and drinks (you can also buy them at a store near the station) as well as any park toys: balls, frisbees, unicycles, juggling balls, badminton rackets, inflatable sumo suits, foam swords and squirt guns. For riders, helmets are recommended if you have one.

This will be a 3-part event centered around a riverside picnic at 1:00pm. Participants can attend one or both sessions and or just the picnic. There will be 3 pick up times at NISHI KASAI Station

Part 1: River Clean Up 9:00a.m.-12:30p.m. (morning session)
Riverside Picnic: 1:00p.m.-2:30p.m.
Part 2 River Clean Up 3:00pm-6:30p.m. (afternoon session)

MORNING SESSION:
Gather at NISHI KASAI Station (Tozai Line) outside the only ticket gate at 9:00a.m., and then go to the Arakawa River by car and pick up trash along the banks for about 2.5 to 3 hours.

PICNIC:
Gather at NISHI KASAI Station at 12:45p.m. and go to the river by car for a 1:00p.m. picnic start. Picnic will basically include bentos with desert (fruit/sweets), soft drinks and beer/wine. Y1,000/Y1,500 for participants without alcohol / with alcohol, respectively. Afterwards we can throw frisbees and balls around.

AFTERNOON SESSION:

Coming by bicycle is recommended if you live nearby as we’ll have to use/share bicycles to access restroom in addition to 2 trips back to the station by car for later sessions. RAIN:
In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled as we will move to and from the river by car and we’ll use rain gear. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds (e.g., typhoon conditions) then the event will be cancelled.

100 Tombs & Mt. Ponpon Nature Hiking!

(1000 yen Participation Fee + 300 yen Hyakuana Entrance Fee) (Canceled in case of rain) (Easy)

The Yoshimi Hyakuana National Historic Site preserves 219 ancient tombs carved into a soft sandstone hillside between the sixth and seventh centuries.

(Bring your own beverages and lunch box (if you want to eat on the way)

We will meet at Tobu Tojo Line’s Higashi Matsuyama Station’s ticket gate at 12:52PM. Take the 11:54AM Fukutoshin Subway Line (going towards Shinrin Koen) at Ikebukuro Station. This becomes the Tobu Tojo line en route and arrives at Higashi Matsuyama Station at 12:50PM.

Course: Higashi Matsuyama Station – Iwamuro Temple – 100 Tombs – Yoshimi Goddess of Mercy and Pagoda – Haccho Lake – Mt. PonPon – Higashi Matsuyama Station

AFTERNOON SESSION:
Gather under Route 6 Bridge (5-8min. walk from Yahiro Station) at 3:00p.m., and pick up trash along the banks for about 2.5 to 3 hours.

RAIN:

Chuo Line  Hiking

Meeting Place/Time: Fujino Station Ticket Gate at 11:55AM

Course: JR Fujino Station – Mt. Takakura (379m) – Tenjin Ridge – Mt. Kongo(456m) – Benten Bridge  – JR Fujino Station

Walking time should be about 4 hours.

OKUTAMA HIKE & Hossawa Waterfall!

(1000 yen Participation Fee) (Cancelled in case of rain)

Be sure to bring your lunch and drinks.

Meet at the ticket gate of MusashiItsukaichi Station (the last stop of the Itsukaichi Line) at 8:50AM.  From the station, we will take the 9:00AM bus (900 yen, 50 minutes) going to Sengen-one Tozan Guchi.  We will hike up to Henbori Pass, Mt. Sengen and then down to Hossawa Waterfall (The hiking time is 4.5 hours).  From there we will take the bus back to MusashiItsukaichi Station (470 yen, 22 minutes).  

From Shinjuku, take the Special Holiday Express, going towards MusashiItsukaichi at 7:44.  This is the Chuo Line, but leaves from platform #11.  Please be careful and get on the part of the train going to Musashi Itsukaichi (the last stop).  It arrives there at 8:48AM.

Make sure to arrive at this time since we must catch a bus.

Walking Time: About 3 hours (10km).

☆The program is ¥1000. Admission of Sankeien is ¥700 for adults and ¥200 for children.

The donation will be given to Riasunomori – an organization in Ishinomaki which works for community development.

Gather at BARAKINAKAYAMA Station (Tozai Line) outside the only ticket gate at 9:00a.m., and then go to te Edogawa River by car and pick up trash along the banks for about 2.5 to 3 hours.

PICNIC:
Gather at BARAKINAKAYAMA Station at 12:45p.m. and go to the river by car for a 1:00p.m. picnic start. Picnic will basically include bentos with desert (fruit/sweets), soft drinks and beer/wine. Y1,000/Y1,500 for participants without alcohol / with alcohol, respectively. Afterwards we can throw frisbees and balls around, and there is a swimming pool and spa with rotemburo only 2-3min. away on foot for those interested in finishing their day with a swim (bring swim ware and cap, Y500 admission to pool + Y600 if entering sento/rotemburo area)

AFTERNOON SESSION:
Gather at BARAKINAKAYAMA Station (Tozai Line) outside the only ticket gate at 2:45p.m.., and then go to te Edogawa River by car and pick up trash along the banks for about 2.5 to 3 hours.

INFO:
If you come late, it will be about a 25-min walk to our location behind the Ichikawa Clean Spa, or take one of the Clean Spa shuttle buses to our location. Also call James’ cell phone 090-1847-5075 if there are any problems finding us. There are restrooms in the Clean Spa (Y200 admission to the facility) at the tennis courts next to the Clean Spa (no charge)

RAIN:
In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled as we will move to and from the river by car and we can clean up under cover the bay front bridges as a Plan B as well as adjacent areas using rain ware. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds (e.g., typhoon conditions) then the event will be cancelled.

Meeting Place and Time: The ticket gate of Funabori Station (Toei Shinjuku Line) at 10:30AM

SCHEDULE

10:30AM – Meet at Funabori Station (Toei Shinjuku Line) ticket gate (and buy things for lunch)

11:15 – 14:30 – Do a Garbage Clean-up on the Arakawa River (and have lunch) (about a 30 minute walk from the station)(Please bring work gloves if you have them)

15:00 Meet at the Higashi Oojima Station (Toei Shinjuku Line) east ticket gate

15:30 – 17:30 – Party in OojimaKomatsukawa Park (You can buy food/drinks near the station) – A cheers to the new age of Reiwa in Japan, frisbee, etc.

Do something good for the environment and join the garbage pick-up.

You may join both the garbage pick-up (no reservation necessary) and picnic, or only one of them if you prefer.
