1) Sagamiko Lake – Mt. Takao Fall Colors Hiking
(Intermediate Course・Participation Fee 1000 yen・Canceled in case of rain)

Meeting place and time: At the Sagamiko Station ticket gate at 9:30 am

Trains are not running frequently and we won’t be able to wait for the next train.  Please make sure to meet at the appointed time since we won’t be able to attend to latecomers.

Train: 9:17 Leave Takao Station on the JR Chuo Line (going towards Kofu) – 9:25 Arrive at Sagamiko Station

We will hike from Sagami Lake to Mt. Takao (about a 4.5 hour hike).  Please bring your lunch and drink.  Also, please wear the appropriate shoes for a hike.

 

2) Illumination & The end of the year party (Reservation required)

For those not going on the hike, but want to see theIlluminations together, we will meet JR Shinjuku South Ticket Gate at 5:05 pm.  Call 080 6546-7688 (Miki and David) if you can’t find us.

★End-of-the-year party: Reservations required

We will have an end-of-the-year party at a Japanese Pub (from 6:00 pm) in Shinjuku and the reservation is required.

Reservations Deadline: By December 6 (Fri) 1 pm

Please make a reservation to Miki & Dave at (contact★jambointernatconal.org) (please change ★ to @).  You can only reserve for yourself in an email, so you cannot reserve for someone else.

First 20 people will be accepted.

Please understand that we cannot increase the number of people after the deadline (including the day of the event) as this is a very busy season for Izakaya. Also, we apologize for not being able to keep a waiting list.

Kamakura Fall Colors Hiking

(Participation Fee 1000 yen and 500 yen entrance fee each for Engakuji and Meigetsuin))(Easy Course) (Cancelled in case of rain)

Meeting place and time: Kitakamakura Station East Exit (on the Yokosuka Line or JR Shonan Shinjuku Line) at 10:00 am or 11:15 am

Train : From Oofuna Station (if coming from this direction), take the 9:56 am JR Yokosuka Line (towards Zushi).  This arrives at Kitakamakura at 9:59 am

Course : Kitakamakura Station (East Exit) – Engakuji Temple – Kitakamakura Station (East Exit) – Meigetsuin – Tenen Hiking Course – Kamakuraguu Shrine – Tsuruoka Hachimangu Shrine – Kamakura Station

This hike isn’t difficult (about 10 km) but there is a bit of going up and down on a rocky course.

1)  Izu-ga-take Hiking in Chichibu

Meeting Place/Time: Shomaru Station at 10:47 am

Hanno Station Departure – 10:05 (Seibu Chichibu line train going towards Seibu Chichibu) – Shomaru Station Arrival – 10:45

Course:  Shomaru Station – Shoumaru Pass – Izu Peak –  Turtle Rock – Shomaru Station

We will have a 4 hour hike on this course with nice views and beautiful forests. There’s also a place where we scale a rock wall with a gentle incline (not dangerous using a chain).  We ascend 546m with quite a few ups and downs.

Bring your food and drink and make sure to wear shoes appropriate for hiking.

2) Arakawa River Clean Up

Those who wish to
go with David,  please meet at Hino Station (on the Chuo Line) ticket
gate at 9:27.  We will take the 9:32 bus from there (15
minutes).

Work hours: 10:00 – 15:30
 (Cutting bamboo grass, carrying logs)

Please wear long pants and long-sleeved shirt and exercise shoes.

We will go to a friend’s house in Mitake, where you can do any of the following activities:

– Do some fun-learning projects like making compost, making paths with bamboo,  various yard work
– Climb (or take the cable car) up Mt. Mitake
– Explore the riverside

Bring your own food and drink. BE CAREFUL: There are no places to buy food near Mitake Station.

Let’s visit the botanical garden with plants and their associated poems, a farmer’s market annexed to a cafe and the picturesque garden.

☆Course: Nishi-Kokubunji Station –  Man’yo Botanical Garden – Ota Cafe – Tonogayado Gardens – Kokubunji Station

☆Walking Time: About 1 hour (about 3km) plus a lot of time for sightseeing so the walk should take about 2 hours.
