Edogawa River Clean Up

Gather at Myoden Station: 13:00
Riverside Meetup: 13:30
Return to station: 17:00

RIVER CLEAN UP
Gather at Myoden Station (Tozai Line) outside the only ticket gate, and
then go to the Edogawa River and pick up trash along the banks for about
3.5 to 4 hours

INFO
If you come late, it will be about a 25-min walk to our location
between the Bay front bridges and the New Myoden Bridge. From the
station, walk to the new Myoden Bridge, cross the river, and then along
the river bank until between the two bridges and look for us at the
water line. Also call James’ (the organizer) cell phone 090-1847-5075 if
there are any problems finding us.

RAIN
In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled
as we will move to and from the river by car and we can clean up under
cover the bay front bridges as a Plan B as well as adjacent areas using
rain ware. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds (e.g., typhoon
conditions) or lightning then the event will be cancelled.

FOE Environmental Project

Meeting Place and time: 9:47 am at Utsugidai Bus Stop

Those who wish to go with David, please meet at Hino Station (on the  Chuo Line) ticket gate at 9:25. We will take the 9:30 bus from there (15 minutes).

Work hours: 10:00 – 15:30
 (Cutting down old trees, carrying logs, chopping wood)

Please wear long pants and long-sleeved shirt and exercise shoes.
Please
bring your own drinks, food (for lunch) and work gloves.

1) Chichibu Hiking

Meeting Place & Time: Higashi Agano Station at 10:24 am

Train: Please be noted that the trains are running infrequently, so we won’t be able to wait for the next one and wait for latecomers.

From Hanno Station, take the Seibu Chichibu Line train (local/bound for Seibuchichibu) at 10:05  and get off at Higashi Agano Station at 10:22

Course: Higashi Agano Station – Mt Monomi – Mt. Hiwada – Kinchakuda – Koma Station (about 4 hours)

Bring your lunch and drink. Please wear appropriate shoes for a hike.

 

2) Arakawa River Clean Up

Gather at Funabori Station (Shinjuku Line) outside the only ticket gate,
and then go to the Arakawa River and pick up trash along the banks for
about 3.5 to 4 hours with a break in the middle

WHAT TO BRING
Wear old clothing that you do not mind getting dirty, and please wear
long pants. Bare legs are not recommended because they can easily get
cut from objects like cut river reeds. Also, a hat is recommended,
especially during the summer months, and please bring lots of liquids to
drink. Bringing gloves is also recommended but we usually have some
extra pairs available to loan out. Then please come with proper footwear
or not sandals and so on.

ADDITIONAL INFO
If you come late, it will be about a 25 min. walk to our location on
the island under the elevated C2 highway between the Kasaibashi Bridge
iand the Shinjuku Line train bridge but much closer to the Shinjjuk Line
Bridge. Call James (the organizer’s) cell phone 090-1847-5075 if there
are any problems finding us.

In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled.
Please bring rain gear and we will take shelter (under a bridge) until
any downpours let up. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds (e.g.,
typhoon conditions) or lightning then the event will be cancelled (and
usually moved to a different day).

(1) Mt. Takatsuka Hiking  (Chuo Line)
(Intermediate Course) (Participation Fee 1.000 yen) (In case of rain, we will do it the next day (Sunday, Nov 2))

Meeting Place/Time: The trains are not running frequently, so we won’t be able to wait for the next train.  Please make sure to meet at the appointed time since we won’t be able to attend to latecomers

Shiotsu Station Ticket Gate at 9:40 am

Train Schedule: 9:18 (Leave Takao Station on the Chuo Local train going towards Kofu) → 9:38 Arrive at Shiotsu.

Course: Shiotsu Station – Daimaru – Mt. Takatsuka – Shiotsu Station (about 5 hours)

Please bring your lunch and drink, and wear appropriate shoes for hiking.

 

(2) Inokashira Park Outdoor Halloween Party
(FREE) ((In case of rain, we will do it the next day (Sunday, Nov 2))

Meeting place and time: At the TICKET GATE of Mitaka Station (Chuo line) at 5:15 pm.

If you are coming later than the appointed time (After the meeting time, we won’t be able to check the messages on the cell often), please call us at 080-6546-7688, not the text messages. The party will be possibly at the backside of Inokashira park nearest to Mitaka station. However, the exact location will be decided on the day.

Things to Bring: Food and drinks (for the party), any fun Halloween goods, costume (for those wishing to dress up)

We will stop by Ozeki Supermarket (on the south side of Mitaka Station) on the way to the park, so you can buy drinks/snacks there. There is a toilet in the park where you can change into your costume.

We’ll plan to finish (arrive at Kichijoji Station) around 9 pm.

RIVER CLEAN UP
Gather at Kojimashinden Station outside the only ticket gate at 13:00
and then go to the Tamagawa River and pick up trash along the banks for
about 3.5 to 4 hours.

If you come late, it will be about a 25-min walk to our location under
or near the new Tamagawa Sky Bridge (But walk straight to the river
first as there is no access from the bridge.) Also call James’ (the
organizer) cell phone 090-1847-5075 if there are any problems finding us.

RAIN
In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled
as we will move to and from the river by car and we can clean up under
cover the bay front bridges as a Plan B as well as adjacent areas using

Mt. Mitake & Rock Garden Hiking

The event is ON.

(Participation Fee 1000 yen, Intermediate, Cancelled in case of rain)

Meeting place and time:  At the JR Oume Line Kori Station’s Ticket Gate at 9:30 am.
Please be sure to arrive on this train as we will be unable to wait for the next one and attend to latecomers.

From Oume Station, take the 8:55 train (towards Okutama), arriving at Kori at 9:29.

Hiking Course:  Kori Station – Mitake Shrine – Tengu Rock – Rock Garden –  Mt. Mitake -Mitake Station

The hiking time is about 6 hours.

Please make sure to bring your lunch and plenty of liquids.  Please wear the shoes appropriate for a hike.

It’ll be open for everybody.  It’s a once-in-a-year chance to visit Kaitokukan Garden.

☆Meeting Time/Place: Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line Hongo 3 Chome Station Ticket Gate: 14:30

☆Course: Hongo 3 Chome Station – University of Tokyo (Kaitokukan Garden) – Todaimae Station

☆Walking Time: About half an hour (about 1km) plus a lot of time for sightseeing so the walk should take about 2 hours.

Tama Nature Walking Course

(1000 yen Participation Fee) (Cancelled in case of rain)(Easy)
Enjoy walking in the woods while having views of the surrounding Tokyo!

Meeting place and time: At the Odakyu Line’s Yomiuri Land Mae Station’s South Exit at 11:35 am

Train: From Noborito, take the Odakyu local line (going towards Honatsugi) at 11:28 and get off at Yomiuri Land Mae at 11:34

Course: This walking course passes by several temples and shrines, a nice wooded area, a Japanese garden and a lot of green.  It’s  fairly easy 2.5 hour walk ending up at Inada Park (on the Tama River) where we will have a picnic and park fun.

From there, we walk to Inadazutsumi Station.  We plan to finish around 4 pm.
