1) Environmental Project at Tama Zoo
(Cancelled in case of 70% or more chance of rain)

If you would like to participate, please inform David by September 21 (Thursday) at jambodave@green.email.ne.jp so that we can get volunteer insurance.

Meeting place and time: 9:30 am at the front main entrance of Tama Zoo’s  Station (Tama Dobutsukoen).

Cost: FREE

Work Details & Hours : The main type of work are cutting down bamboo grass and clearing out old logs. 9:30 am – 3:00 pm

If you join this event, please bring the following: Long sleeved shirt and long pants (not shorts), work gloves, towel, and appropriate shoes  (like hiking boots) are required.

Please bring whatever you want to eat for lunch, and drinks during the work project.

 

2) Game Time (Buy one drink)
It’s a casual board game event. Let’s play various games
together. It’s OK to come late or leave early.  Feel free to join us.
 Beginners are welcome.

RIVER CLEAN UP

Gather at NISHI KASAI Station (Tozai Line) outside the only ticket gate, and then go to the Arakawa River and pick up trash along the banks for about about 3 5 to 4 hours.

ADDITIONAL INFO:

If you come late, it will be about a 25 min. walk to our location not far from the Kasaibashi Bridge in the upstream direction. In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled. Please bring rain gear and we will take shelter (under a bridge) until any downpours let up. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds (e.g., typhoon conditions) or lightning then the event will be cancelled (and usually moved to a different day).

Chichibu Hike & Spider Lily Fields

Train: Since the train is running in frequently, we won’t wait for the next train and attend to the latecomers.  Please come to the meeting place by the appointed time.

Course:Musashi Yokote Station  ⇒ Gojonotaki Waterfall ⇒ Mt. Hiwada ⇒ Kinchakuda (near Kori River where we see the incredible Spider Lily Fields) ⇒ Swimming in the river ⇒ Kori Station.

Walking Time: About 4 hours.

Please bring your lunch and plenty of liquids.

If you want to swim after a hike in the river , please bring your swim suit.

Akigawa Hiking & Swimming

Meeting place and time: 10:40 am at the ticket gate of  JR Musashi-Itsukaichi Station (the last stop of the Itsukaichi Line)

Train: Haijima Departure (JR Itsukaichi Line) – 10:20, Musashi-Itsukaichi (the last stop) Arrival – 10:37

Course: Musashi-Itsukaichi Station – Mt. Konpira – hoshitake Line – Akigawa River (we will swim and play along the river as we walk back to the station (along road and river) – Musashi-Itsukaichi Station

Walking Time: About 4 hours

Bring lunch and drinks and your swimsuit if you want to swim!

Course: Shiotsu Station – Oono Reservoir – Mt. Ohanna – Namezawa Pass – Oota Pass  Yanagawa Gorge (for river fun) – Yanagawa Station (Walking time: 3 hours)

In the afternoon, we will relax on the Yanagawa River, where you can stroll along the river and swim into a gorge.  Please bring your lunch and drink.

Since the train is running in frequently (JR Oume Line), we won’t wait for the next train and attend to the latecomers.  Please come to the meeting place by the appointed time.

Course: Okutama Station – Tamagawa River (for river walk) – Shiromaru Dam – Hatonosu Gorge (Swim) – Hiking Course (Hatonosu-Kori) – Convenient store near Kori Station – Tama River swim (near Peter’s place) – Kori Station

The course finishes up at Tama river near Peter’s (Jambo member) place close to Kori Station, where we will enjoy swimming, snacking, and drinking.

Please bring your lunch and drinks and swimming suit/towel if you are swimming.

Course: Hanno Station – Mt. Tenran – Mt. Tonosu – Iruma River (Swimming & river fun) – Hanno Station

Walking time: About 3.5 hours

Train: From Ikebukuro, take the Seibu Ikebukuro (Express) Line’s 9:50 train and get off at Hanno Station, arriving there at 10:38.  Make sure to get on this train as we can’t wait for the next one and attend to the latecomers.

Please wear appropriate shoes (tennis shoes, hiking boots), bring lunch and plenty of liquids.

Since we’ll be swimming in the river, also bring your swimsuit and towel.
