Train: For those going from Ikebukuro, Ikebukuro Departure (TobuTojo Line going towards Ogawamachi) – 10:00, ShinrinKoen Arrival – 10:48

From Shinrin Koen Station, we go to the North Exit bus area and take the 11:02 bus to ShinrinKoen’s South Gate (takes 5 minutes and costs ¥210).

This is a huge, beautiful park in Saitama with wonderful gardens, woods, nature and bike paths, a frisbee golf course, etc. There are many kinds of flowers in bloom, especially the cockscomb and coleus fields.

Meeting place and time: 10:44 am at the ticket gate at YRP Nobi Station

Train: If you are going from Shinagawa, Shinagawa Departure (KeihinKyuko going towards Misakiguchi) – 9:39,, YRP Nobi Arrival – 10:41

Course: YRP Nobi Station – Nobi Beach (walk along the beach) – Kurihama Flower Park – Perry Park – Keikyuu Kurihama Station

Total course time: 4-5 hours

This route begins with a walk along the beach and then walking along the road with ocean views to Kurihama Flower Park, where there are large Cosmos Flower fields (some are blooming but many were hit by the recent typhoon) and sunflowers are blooming.

RIVER CLEAN UP
Gather at FUNABORI Station (Shinjuku Line) outside the ticket gate at 13:00, and then go to the Arakawa River and pick up trash along the river bank for about about 3.5 to 4 hours.

If you come late, it will be about a 25-min walk to our location between the Shinjuku Line train bridge and the Kasaibashi Bridge. Also call James (the organizer) cell phone 090-1847-5075 if there are any problems finding us.

RAIN:
In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled. Please bring rain gear and we will take shelter (under a bridge) until any downpours let up. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds (e.g., typhoon conditions) or lightning then the event will be cancelled (and usually moved to a different day).

Local governments have shops in Tokyo to promote their regions through food, souvenirs and tourist information. You can enjoy eating and traveling around Japan with less time and money while supporting the disaster-hit regions such as Tohoku, western Japan, Hokkaido and Nagano by purchasing local specialties.

Course: Yurakucho Station – Hokkaido Dosanko Plaza – Kesennuma Kuji Fuskushima Information Station Okaeri Kan – Ginza Kumamoto-kan – Ginza Nagano – Iwate Ginga Plaza – Tottori Okayama Shinbashi-kan – Shinbashi Station

Walking Time: About 1 hour (4km) plus a lot of time for shopping and sightseeing so the walk should take about 2 hours. You can buy food and drink on the way.

RIVER CLEAN UP
Gather at Myoden Station (Tozai Line) outside the only ticket gate at 13:00, and then go to the Edogawa River and pick up trash along the banks for about about 3 to 4 hours.

If you come late, it will be about a 25-min walk to our location on the opposite side of the river from the Clean Spa under the bay front bridges. Just walk to the river from the station and the head to the orange bridge. Also call James’ (the organizer) cell phone 090-1847 5075 if there are any problems finding us.

RAIN
In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled as we will move to and from the river by car and we can clean up under cover the bay front bridges as a Plan B as well as adjacent areas using rain ware. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds (e.g., typhoon conditions) or lightning then the event will be cancelled.

Trains are not running frequently and we can’t wait for the next train.  Please come by the appointed time as we won’t be able to attend to latecomers.

Course: Shiotsu Station – Oono Reservoir – Mt. Ohanna – Namesawa Pass – Owada Pass -Yanagawa Gorge (for river fun) – Yanagawa Station (Walking time: 3 hours)

In the afternoon, we will get snacks/drinks and relax on the Yanagawa River, where you can stroll along the river and swim into a gorge.

Please bring your lunch and drink.

Tama Nature Walking Course

(1000 yen Participation Fee) (Cancelled in case of rain)(Easy)

Enjoy walking in the woods while having views of the surrounding Tokyo!

Meeting place and time: At the Odakyu Line’s Yomiuri Land Mae Station’s North Exit at 11:55 am

Train: If you are going from Shinjuku, take the Odakyu express train from Shinjuku Station at 11:30 (going towards Fujisawa) to Noborito, arriving at 11:46. Change to the 11:48 Odakyu local line (going towards Honatsugi) and get off at Yomiuri Land Mae at 11:54.

Course: This walking course passes by several temples and shrines, a nice wooded area, a Japanese garden and a lot of green .  It’s  fairly easy 2.5 hour walk ending up at Inada Park (on the Tama River) where we will have a picnic and park fun. From there, we walk to Inadazutsumi Station.  We plan to finish around 4:00.
