At Miran Hall (Chitosekarasuyama Station on the Keio Line) ¥1500

To go to Miran Hall, go out the East Exit of Chitosekarasuyama Station and up the steps on the left. At the top of the steps, turn right and walk along the railroad tracks (DO NOT CROSS the tracks). The tracks should be on your right. In about 1 minute, you’ll come to a stairway on the outside of a barber shop which goes up to Miran Hall. If you can’t find it, please call 3300-0912 or 080-6546-7688 for directions,

If you’d like to go with David, please meet at the Chitosekarasuyama Station East Ticket Gate at 6:37PM .

Please bring some snacks/drinks.

7:00 – 10:00 – PARTY

9:00 – 10:00 – Kris Kringle Gift Exchange

This is a Kris Kringle Party. People who want to participate in the gift exchange, please bring a recycled present (please don’t buy something new) worth about ¥1000 and participants exchange the gifts with each other.

Proceeds from the entrance fee will be donated to Save the Children (http://www.savechildren.org/). JAMBO sponsors two children (one from the Philippines and one from Malawi in Central Africa) through this wonderful organization. The proceeds will go towards financial support of these children.

So you can have an enjoyable evening and help a good cause at the same time.

Forest Restoration Project in Takao

(Cutting down old trees and making hiking paths)

9:30AM – 3:30PM
(Bring your own beverages and lunch box)

This project is a 15 minute walk from Takao Station. Any interested people may contact David for more details by December 8 (since reservations are necessary).

If you join this event, please bring the following:

Long sleeved shirt and long pants (not shorts), work gloves, towel, and appropriate shoes (trekking shoes or hiking boots) are required.

Please bring whatever you want to eat for lunch, and drinks during the work project.

Hiking in the Miura Peninsula

We will meet at the ticket gate of Higashi Zushi Station at 9:55AM. Please take the following train.

Leave Yokohama (JR Toukaidou Line (going towards Atami) – 9:20 Arrive Totsuka – 9:29AM
Leave Totsuka (JR Shounan Shinjuku Line) – 9:30 Arrive Zushi – 9:46
Leave Zushi (JR Yokosuka Line (going towards Kurihama) – 9:49 Arrive HigashiZushi (9:52)

Those going from Yokohama can meet on the front car of the Toukaidou Line at Yokohama at 9:20.

The hike itself is not difficult, but the hiking time is about 6 hours.

Hiking Course: Higashi Zushi Station – KaminoYama Park (wonderful views of the coast)- Mt. Sengen Hiking Course – Morito Beach (to see the Sunset?)

Bring your lunch and plenty of liquids.
Please don’t forget to bring a rucksack for your food/drinks and wear exercise shoes!

For JAMBO members, the cost is 3,500 yen for men and 3,000 yen for women w/reservation (or plus 500 yen if you go directly without making a reservation). DOING THINGS WITHOUT TO BRING PEACE WITHIN

What a turbulent year! Looking at the world picture, 2011 is bound to be remembered as the year when natural disasters due to freaky weather (floods in Australia and Thailand, huge tornadoes in the US, terrible drought in East Africa) and otherwise (big earthquakes in New Zealand, Turkey, and Japan) have become part of the norm. Tama Fall Colors Parks DOUBLE COURSE

Enjoy walking in the parks and green paths in the Tama area!

PART 1

Meet at the Odakyuu Tama Line’s Karakida Station’s ticket gate at 10:00AM.

Take the Odakyuu Line (going towards Odawara) from Shinjuku Station at 9:13AM and change to the Odakyuu Tama Express line at Kyoudou (arriving at 9:30 and departing at 9:32). Take this to Karakida, arriving at 9:59.

If you’d like to go from Shinjuku, ride at the front of the 9:13 train at Shinjuku Station. David will meet you at the front of the Kyoudou Station platform at 9:30AM to change to the Odakyuu Tama Express.

Course: Karakida Station – Tsurumaki Park – Gingko tree lined walk – Tama Chuou Park – Tomigaoka Park – Keiou Eiyama Station It’s a fairly easy 6 KM 2.5 hour hike with a lot of greenery.

Afternoon (PART 2)

Meet at the Keio Line’s Keiou Eiyama Station’s ticket gate at 1:00PM.

Take the Keio Semi-Express (Junkyuu going towards Takaosanguchi) from Shinjuku Station at 12:30 and change to the Keio Sagamihara line (express going towards Hashimoto) at Chofu (arriving at 12:46 and departing at 12:47). Take this to KeiouEiyama, arriving at 13:00.

Course: KeiouEiyama Station – SuwaKita Park – TouKaede Tree-Lined Walk – TamaHigashi Park – Toritsu Sakuragaoka Park – Seigaoka Green Road – KeiouEiyama Station It’s a fairly easy 7 KM – 3.5 hour hike with a lot of greenery.

OKUTAMA HIKING BIG EVENT!

(Cancelled in case of rain)

Part 1

The first part is an intermediate four hour hike.

Course: Kawai Station – Mt. Iwatakeishi – Mt. Takamizu- Ikusabata Station

Meeting Place/Time: Kawai Station Ticket Gate at 8:50AM

We meet at Kawai Station at 8:50AM. Take the 7:07AM Chuo Line Express train from Shinjuku Station. This arrives at Tachikawa Station at 7:43AM. Change there to the 7:51 Ome Line train. Take this to the end (Ome Station), arriving there at 8:24AM and go across the platform and take the 8:26AM train towards Okutama. This train arrives at Kawai Station at 8:49AM. Be sure to arrive by this time since we will be unable to wait for the next train. From here, we do a 4 hour hike to Ikusabata Station. We will meet other people there at 1:02PM for the following river hike.

David will get on the Oume Line train at Haijima Station at 8:06.

Please wear appropriate shoes (tennis shoes, hiking boots), bring a lunch to eat on the mountain, and plenty of liquids.

Part 2

A refreshing walk along the river in Okutama viewing the fall colors!

Meeting Place and Time: The ticket gate of Ikusabata Station (on the Ome Line) at 13:05PM
(For those going there from Tachikawa, board the 12:15PM train going to Oume. This arrives in Oume at 12:46. Change in Oume to the 12:51 train going to Okutama and get off at Ikusabata at 13:02PM.)

Take a walk along the river and see the fall colors. An easy hike especially for children!
Bring a lunch and liquids.
