Meeting Place and time: 9:47 am at Utsugidai Bus Stop

Those who wish to go with David, please meet at Hino Station (on the Chuo Line) ticket gate at 9:25. We will take the 9:30 bus from there (15 minutes).

Work hours: 10:00 – 15:30
 (Cutting down bamboo grass, cleaning wood in the woods, etc)

Please wear long pants and long-sleeved shirt and exercise shoes.
Please
bring your own drinks, food (for lunch) and work gloves.

Arakawa River Clean Up

SCHEDULE
Gather at SHINKOIWA Station: 13:00
Gather riverside 13:30
Finishing up: 17:00

RIVER CLEAN UP
Gather at Shinkoiwa Station (Sobu Line) outside the North Exit ticket gate, and then go to the Arakawa River and pick up trash along the banks for about 3.5 to 4 hours with a break in the middle.

WHAT TO BRING
Wear old clothing that you do not mind getting dirty, and please wear long pants. Bare legs are not recommended because they can easily get cut from objects like cut river reeds. Also, a hat is recommended, especially during the summer months, and please bring lots of liquids to drink. Bringing gloves is also recommended but we usually have some extra pairs available to loan out.

If you come late, it will be about a 25 min. walk to our location on the island under the elevated C2 highway between the Kasaibashi Bridge iand the Shinjuku Line train bridge but much closer to the Shinjjuku Line Bridge. RAIN:
In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled. Please bring rain gear and we will take shelter (under a bridge) until any downpours let up. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds (e.g., typhoon conditions) or lightning then the event will be cancelled (and usually moved to a different day).

1) Mt. Ooyama & Spider Lilies Hiking

Meeting Time & Place: 8:47 am at Hadano Station Ticket Gate
Please be on time, as we’ll be taking the bus (details below)

Train: Shinjuku Departure (Odakyu Line Express) 7:41 → Hadano Arrival 8:45

We will take the 9:04 (#21) bus (going to Yabitsu Pass / 48 minutes) outside Hadano Station. This bus is the final one to get there. There are no more buses for Yabitsu Pass after this one.

Hadano Station – Yabitsu Pass (by bus – 570 yen) – Mt. Harudake – Mt.Ohyama (1251M) – Hinata Nature Road (with many spider lilies – Isehara Station (by bus)

The total course time will be four and a half hours.

The view from the peak of Mt Ohyama is famous for its beauty, so if we’re lucky with the weather, we ought to be able to enjoy a splendid panorama while we eat our lunch.  At the end of the hike (in Hinata), there are several scenic areas with spider lily fields.

Please bring your own drinks and lunch. Please wear shoes appropriate for hiking.

Kannonzaki Course & Swim (Miura Peninsula)

Meeting place and time: 11:14 am at the ticket gate at Uraga Station on the Keihin Kyuko Line

Train: If you’re going from Shinagawa Station, take the following train. Keihin Kyuko Line (Express going towards Misakiguchi) Shinagawa Station 10:10 – Hori no Uchi Station Arrival 11:05 – Change to the local train going towards Uraga leaving at 11:05 – Uragawa Station Arrival 11:11

Course:  Uraga Station – Kannonzaki Ocean Park – Kannonzaki Ocean Park Beach (Swim and Beach Fun) – Ocean Breeze Promenade – Mahori Kaigan Station

Total course time: 5 hours

Please bring lunch and drinks and swimming goods if you want to swim.

Arakawa River Clean Up

Organized by Tokyo River Friends

Tokyo River Friends will be participating in the “World Cleanup Day”
event again this year! This marks our third year of involvement, and
we’ll be joining the official “World Cleanup Day” on Saturday, September
20, as designated by the United Nations.

On this day, cleanup activities will take place all around the world. We
plan to share photos and updates from our event on social media to help
energize this global movement.

Okutama Walk & Swim

(Easy Course) (1000 yen Participation Fee) (Cancelled in case of rain)

Meeting Place/Time: Ikusabata Station Ticket Gate at 10:10 am

From Ome Station, take the 9:50 Ome Line train, going toward Okutama. This train arrives at Ikusabata Station at 10:08.

Be sure to arrive by this time as trains are running infrequently and we will be unable to accommodate latecomer.

Course: Ikusabata Station – Tama River Walk – Tama River Swim – a get-together on the River (near Kori Station)

For those who’d like to join, we’ll meet some people on the riverbank near Kori Station around 2:00 pm. Beforehand, we’ll stop by a nearby 7-Eleven to pick up food and drinks.You are free to leave (from Kori Station) at any time you like.

Please bring a lunch and plenty of liquids.  You can swim or dip your feet in the river, so if you want to get in, bring your swimsuit.

Train: If you are going from Ikebukuro, take the Seibu Ikebukuro (Express) Line’s 9:50 train and get off at Hanno Station, arriving there at 10:38.

Course: Hanno Station – Mt. Tenran – Mt. Tonosu – Iruma River (swimming
& river fun) – Hanno Station

Walking time: About 3.5 hours

Please come in shoes suitable for hiking.  Bring lunch and drinks, as well as a swimsuit and towel (for those who want to swim).

Omurosan Hiking

Let’s admire the view from the top of Mt. Omuro easily by taking a cable car. We visit a spiritually powerful spots as well.

☆If you are coming from Tokyo, take the 7:42 JR Tokaido Main Line from Tokyo Station [going towards Atami]. This train arrives at Atami at 9:31. Take the 9:40 JR Ito Line train [going towards Izukyu Shimoda]. This train arrives at Izukogen at 10:26.

☆Hiking Time: Approximately 1 hour (about 1km) plus time for rest and sightseeing so the hike should take around 2 hours.
