Jambo & Earth Day Group Bike Ride

The annual bike ride with the Earth Day Ride Group is usually held in April, but has been postponed this year (due to Corona) to November. Let’s enjoy the autumn colors in the Musashino area, having a leisurely ride from Mitaka Station through some residential areas and cycling paths.

Course: Mitaka Station – TamaJosui River – Roka Koshun-en Gardens – Soshigaya Park – Kinuta Park (Lunch) – Tama Riverside – Kanpachi Street – Murasaki Bridge Street – Mitaka Station

〇For those who need to rent bicycles
The bicycle rental reservation deadline is Thursday, November 19 at 6:00 pm (Please keep this in mind since we cannot accept reservations after this.) Due to the unusual circumstances surrounding Corona, the bicycle rental shop (run by Mitaka City) requires all users to provide the information (below) one week before usage. If you wish to rent, please send this information to Miki (seitansai1335@yahoo.co.jp) by the deadline. Please make sure that your settings are set to be able to receive emails from this address, and there may be times it ends up in your spam box, so please also check that to make sure it’s not there.

People who are renting bicycles will meet at 9:30 am at the Mitaka Station’s south exit’s police box.
People who don’t need to rent bicycles will meet at 10:00 am at the Mitaka Station’s south exit bus terminal area.

Things to bring: Lunch, drinks, mask (necessary)
○In order to avoid crowding at supermarkets and convenient stores, please bring your lunch with you to the meeting place. There will be some convenience stores along the course where you can get drinks or snacks.
○Cycling is basically an outdoor activity but when you go inside (any shops or buildings), please wear a mask, and there may be times we ask you to wear your mask when cycling in crowded areas. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Hakone Autumn Colors Hiking

Take the following train, if you are coming from Shinjuku: Shinjuku Departure on the Odakyu Line Express (towards Odawara) at 7:50 ⇒ Odawara Arrival 9:26 ⇒ Go to the Daiyuzan Line and take the train going towards Daiyuzan at 9:36 ⇒ Daiyuzan Arrival 9:57

We will be unable to wait for latecomers since the trains are infrequent.  So, please make sure to arrive at the meeting place on time.

*Please note that it might  be crowded due to the 3 day weekend plus the fall colors season in Hakone.  You have only 10 minutes to transfer in Odawara (and it’s about a 5 minute walk from the Odakyu Line to the Daiyuzan Line).  So, please allow yourself extra time for the transfer and toilet time.

Hike course: Daiyuzan Station → Sai-Jo-Ji Temple (a spectacular temple for fall colors) → Myoujingatake(1169m) (nice views of Mt. Fuji in good weather)→ Goura  (Take the Hakone Tozan Railway to HakoneYumoto&Odawara).

The walking time for this hike is about  5.5 hours.

Edogawa River Clean Up

Gather at Barakinakayama Station: 13:00

River Clean Up: 13:30-16:30

Relaxing riverside: 16:30-17:00

Return to station by Car: 17:00-17:15

RIVER CLEAN UP

Gather at Barakinakayama Station (Tozai Line) outside the only ticket gate at 13:00., and then go to the Edogawa River by car and pick up trash along the banks for about about 3 hours.

OPTIONAL MORNING SESSION

As I will be on the river in the morning doing some scouting and precleaning, people welcome to join me at that time, but please make specific arrangements with me by e-mail, arrival time, location, etc.

INFO:

If you come late, it will be about a 25-min walk to our location on the opposite side of the river from the Clean Spa. Just walk to the river from the station and the head in the direction of Tokyo Bay until you see us along the water line. Also call my James (the organizer) phone 090-1847-5075 if there are any problems finding us.

RAIN:

In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled as we will move to and from the river by car and we can clean up under cover the bay front bridges as a Plan B as well as adjacent areas using rain ware. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds (e.g., typhoon conditions) or lightning then the event will be cancelled.

Jindaiji Castle Ruins Walking Tour

(Easy Course)(Cancelled in case of heavy rain)

It was designated as a “National Historic Site Jindai-ji Castle Ruin” in 2017.

In the early 16th century, the “Age of Civil Wars (Sengoku-period)”, this Jindaiji castle was built by general Oogigaya Uesugi for the battle against general Odawara Hojo.

Some parts remnants of the castle are visible as they left in good shape.

☆The donation will be given to Riasunomori – an organization in Ishinomaki which works for community development.

(Intermediate) (Participation Fee 1000 yen) (Canceled in case of rain)

Meeting Place & Time: At the Yorii Station ticket gate at 10:30 am

Train Schedule: If you are coming from Ikebukuro, take the Tobu Tojo (Express) Line’s 9:00 train and get off at Ogawamachi Station, arriving at 10:04. Change here to the local train going the same direction towards Yorii, getting on the 10:13 train which arrives at Yorii Station at 10:29. Make sure to get on this train as we cannot wait for the next one.

Course:  Yorii Station – Taisho Pond – Mt. Kanetsukido (247m) – Tsuburata Lake – Mt. Rakan (247m) – Yorii Station

Walking time: About 4.5 hour hike that takes us up 2 low mountains and around a big lake (Tsuburata Lake).

Please wear appropriate shoes for a hike and bring a lunch to eat on the mountain, and plenty of liquids.

Walking Distance: About 13 km

Gather at NISHI KASAI Station (Tozai Line) outside the ticket gate at 13:00, and then go to the Arakawa River and pick up trash along the river bank for about about 3 to 3 and half hours.

INFO:
If you come late, it will be about a 25-min walk to our location on the river at the waterline between the Tozai Line bridge and Tokyo Bay (but you have to access the Nakade island from the Kasaibashi Bridge)Please go directly to the river as well as call James (the organizer) (090-1847-5075) to coordinate a meeting place.

RAIN:

In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled as we will use rain ware and take cover as necessary. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds (e.g., typhoon conditions) or lightning then the event will be cancelled or stopped if already in progress.
