1) Okutama Hiking and Swimming!

Meeting Place/Time: Okutama Station ticket gate at 10:20

Since the train is running in frequently (JR Oume Line), we won’t wait for the next train and attend to the latecomers.  Please come to the meeting place by the appointed time. 

Train: Oume Station Departure 9:37 – Okutama Station Arrival 10:16

Course: Okutama Station – Tamagawa River (for river walk) – Shiromaru Dam – Hatonosu Gorge (Swim) – Hiking Course (Hatonosu-Kori) – Convenient store near Kori Station – Tama River swim (near Peter’s place) – Kori Station

The course finishes up at Tama river near Peter’s (Jambo member) place close to Kori Station, where we will enjoy swimming, snacking, and drinking.

Please bring your lunch and drinks and swimming suit/towel if you are swimming.

 

 

2) Arakawa River Clean Up

RIVER CLEAN UP
Gather at NISHI KASAI Station (Tozai Line) outside the only ticket gate, and then go to the Arakawa River and pick up trash along the banks for about about 3 5 to 4 hours.

If you come late, it will be about a 25 min. walk to our location not far from the Kasaibashi Bridge in the upstream direction. Call Jame’s cell phone 090-1847-5075 if there are any problems finding us.

In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled. Please bring rain gear and we will take shelter (under a bridge) until any downpours let up. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds (e.g., typhoon conditions) or lightning then the event will be cancelled (and usually moved to a different day).

Otake Limestone Cave Tour

Chichibu Hike and Swim (Hanno)

Meeting Place/Time: Hanno Station ticket gate at 10:40

Course: Hanno Station – Mt. Tenran – Mt. Tonosu – Iruma River (Swimming & river fun) – Hanno Station

Walking time: About 3.5 hours

Train: From Ikebukuro, take the Seibu Ikebukuro (Express) Line’s 9:50 train and get off at Hanno Station, arriving there at 10:38.  Make sure to get on this train as we can’t wait for the next one and attend to the latecomers.

Please wear appropriate shoes (tennis shoes, hiking boots), bring lunch and plenty of liquids.

Since we’ll be swimming in the river, also bring your swimsuit and towel.

RIVER CLEAN UP

Gather at Myoden Station (Tozai Line) outside the only ticket gate at 14:30, and then go to the Edogawa River and pick up trash along the banks for about about 3.5 to 4 hours.

If you come late, it will be about a 25-min walk to our location on the opposite side of the river from the Clean Spa under the bay front bridges. Just walk to the river from the station and the head to the orange bridge. Also call James’ (the organizer) cell phone 090-1847 5075 if there are any problems finding us.

RAIN

In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled as we will move to and from the river by car and we can clean up under cover the bay front bridges as a Plan B as well as adjacent areas using rain ware. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds (e.g., typhoon conditions) or lightning then the event will be cancelled.

Tanigawadake Hiking

Mt. Tanigawa is one of Japan’s 100 Famous Mountains. It is easier to enjoy the views by taking a ropeway.

The buses are running infrequently and we will be unable to wait for the next bus.  Please be sure to arrive by the appointed meeting time.

Train: If you are coming from Tokyo, take the 6:20 JR Takasaki Line train from Ueno Station (going towards Takasaki). This arrives at Takasaki Station at 8:15. Take the 8:25 Joetsu Line train going towards Minakami. This train arrives at Minakami Station at 9:31

Hiking Time: About 4 hours and 10 minutes (6.4km) plus time for rest so the hike should take about 5 hours.

Enoshima Beach Fun

Enoshima Beach Fun (Enoshima Walking, Swimming, Beach Sunset)
(EASY) (1000 yen Participation Fee) (Cancelled in case of rain)

Meeting Time/Place: 13:55 at KataseEnoshima Station ticket gate

Train: If going from Shinjuku, take the 12:50 Odakyu Line Express going towards Fujisawa. Get off at Fujisawa (arriving at 13:46) and change to the Odakyu local going toward Katase Enoshima, leaving at 13:48. This arrives at KataseEnoshima at 13:54.

Course: Katase-Enoshima Station – Subana Shopping Street – Ryuguchi Temple and Pagoda – East Beach – Enoshima Island (walk around the island) – West Beach (swimming and beach fun) – Katase-Enoshima Station

Walking time: About 2.5 hours

Bring beach wear and beach toys!!! If you have a small burner which you want to cook your own food on on the beach, feel free to bring it.
