Gather at Nishi Kasai Station: 13:00
Go to the river:13:10
River Clean Up: 13:30-17:00
Return to station: 17:30

RIVER CLEAN UP
Gather at Nishi Kasai Station (Tozai Line) outside the only ticket gate at 13:00, and then go to the Arakawa River and pick up trash along the banks for about about 3 hours.

ADDITIONAL INFO:
If you come late, it will be about a 25 min. walk to our location between the Kasaibashi Bridge and the Tozai Line Bridge. Contact David and Miki (the organizer) at 080-6546-7688 if there are any problems finding us.

RAIN:
In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled. Please bring rain gear and we will take shelter (under a bridge) until any downpours let up. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds (e.g., typhoon conditions) or lightning then the event will be cancelled (and usually moved to a different day). Let’s have fun enjoying our local nature while making it better at the same time.

Let’s climb the highest mountain inside Yamanote Line

(Easy)(¥1000 Participation Fee) (Cancelled in case of heavy rain)
A certificate of reaching the summit of Mt. Hakone will be issued. We’ll also walk historic places and Korean Town.

Meeting Time/Place: 14:00 JR Chuo/Sobu Line Ochanomizu Station
Hijiribashi Exit or 15:30 Tokyo Metro Tozai Line Kagurazaka Station 1a Exit

Course: Ochanomizu Station – Yushima Seido – Kanda Shrine – Rekisen Park (Trace of Koishikawa Tunnel Rifle Shooting Range) – Kagurazaka – Mt. Hakone (44.6m) – JR Shin Okubo Station

Walking & Sightseeing Time: About 3 hours (8km). About 1 hour (less than 4km) from Kagurazaka.

Akigawa Hike

(1000 yen Participation Fee) (easy intermediate) (We will go even in light rain)

Meeting time and place: At the ticket gate of Akigawa Station (on the Itsukaichi Line) at 10:20 am.

Train: Take the JR Itsukaichi Line from Haijima bound for Musashi Itsukaichi at 10:07 am and arrive at Akigawa Station at 10:16 (18)
Please arrive by this time as the trains are not running frequently and we cannot wait for the next train.

COURSE: Akikawa Station ⇒ Akikawa Hills Course ⇒ Mt.Benten ⇒ MusashiItsukaichi Station (About 4 hours)

(1) Mt. Zumado Hiking (Okutama)
(1000 yen Participation Fee) (Intermediate) (Cancelled in case of rain)

Meeting place and time: At the ticket gate of Kawai Station (on the Oume Line) at 10:40 am

Train: If you are coming from Shinjuku, take the 9:08 Chuo Line Super Express train from Shinjuku Station (going towards Oume). This arrives at Oume Station at 10:07. Go across the platform and take the 10:13 train  going towards Okutama.  This train arrives at Kawai Station at 10:39.  The trains are running infrequently and we will be unable to wait for the next train.  Please be sure to arrive by the appointed meeting time.

Course: Kawai Station – Mt. Zumado – Kori Station – River/Road Walk – Hatonosu Station (About 3.5 hours)

Please bring your lunch and drinks.

Gather at Barakinakayama Station: 13:00
Go to the river by car: 13:10
River Clean Up: 13:30
Relaxing riverside: 17:30-18:00
Return to station by Car: 18:00

RIVER CLEAN UP
Gather at Barakinakayama Station (Tozai Line) outside the only ticket gate at 13:00., and then go to the Edogawa River by car and pick up trash along the banks for about about 3 to 4 hours.

INFO:
If you come late, it will be about a 25-min walk to our location on the river in front of the Clean Center and Clean Spa. Just walk to the river from the station and the head in the direction of Tokyo Bay until you see us along the water line. Also call James (the organizer) cell phone 090-1847-5075 if there are any problems finding us.

RAIN:
In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled as we will move to and from the river by car and we can clean up under cover the bay front bridges as a Plan B as well as adjacent areas using rain ware. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds (e.g.,typhoon conditions) or lightning then the event will be cancelled. Let’s have fun enjoying our local nature while making it better at the same time.

Environmental Restoration Project

Environmental Restoration Project with Friends of the Earth
(Raking fallen leaves, gathering/chopping wood)

RESERVATIONS REQUIRED to David (jambodave@green.email.ne.jp) by February 10 (Thur).

Meeting Place and time: 9:47 am at Utsugidai Bus Stop
Those who wish to go with David, please meet at Hino Station (on the Chuo Line) ticket gate at 9:27.  We will take the 9:32 bus from there (15 minutes).

Work hours: 10:00 – 15:30

Please wear long pants and long-sleeved shirt and exercise shoes.

Please bring your own drinks, food (for lunch) and work gloves.

Okutama (Takamizu 3 Peaks) Hiking

(Intermediate Course) (1000 yen) (Cancelled in case of rain)

Meeting Place/Time: Mitake Station Ticket Gate at 10:36 am

Train: If you are coming from Shinjuku, take the 9:08 Chuo Line Super Express train from Shinjuku
Station (going towards Oume).  This arrives at Oume Station at 10:07. Go across the platform and take the 10:13 train  going towards Okutama.  This train arrives at Mitake Station at 10:31 (34).

The trains are running infrequently and we will be unable to wait for the next train.  Please be sure to arrive by the appointed meeting time.

Course: Mitake Station – Mt. Sougaku – Mt. Iwatakeishi – Mt. Takamizu – Ikusabata Station  (about 4-5 hours)

(1) Tama Nature Hiking Course

(Easy Course)(1000 yen Participation Fee) (We go even if it rains)
Enjoy walking in the parks and green paths in the Tama area!

Meeting place and time: At the Keio Line’s TamaSakai Station’s ticket gate at 10:55 am

Train: (If you are going from Shinjuku) Take the Keio Line Semi-Express (going towards Hashimoto) from Shinjuku Station at 10:12 and change to the Keio Semi-Express Sagamihara Line (going towards Hashimoto) at Keio Tama Center Station (arriving at 10:44 and departing at 10:46). Take this to Tama-sakai, arriving at 10:53.

Course: TamaSakai Station – Oyamadairi Park – One Green Path – NagaIke Park – Minami Osawa (with it’s Spanish building atmosphere) – Minami Osawa Station

It’s a fairly easy 3.5 hour hike with a lot of green.

BIG BUDDHA and AKIGAWA Course!

(EASY)(1000 yen Participation Fee + 300 yen Big Buddha Entrance Fee) (Cancelled in case of rain)

Meeting place and time: Meet at the ticket gate of Musashi Hikida Station (on the Itsukaichi Line) at 10:22

Train: From Tachikawa, take the JR Oume Line at 9:44, arriving at Haijima Station at 9:56. Change to the Musashi-Itsukaichi Line, leaving Haijima at 10:07 This train arrives at Musashi Hikida at 10:20.

Course: Musashi Hikida Station – Hoko Temple Big Buddha – Tokoin Temple Hiking Area (about 1 hour on hiking courses) – Akigawa Station (Walking Time: about 3-4 hours)

RIVER CLEAN UP
Gather at FUNABORI Station (Shinjuku Line) outside the ticket gate at 13:00, and then go to the Arakawa River and pick up trash along the river bank for about about 3 to 3 and half hours.

MORNING SESSION (optional)
As I will be on the river in the morning doing some scouting and precleaning, people, who may not be free in the afternoon, are welcome to join me at that time. Please go directly to the river as well as call the organizer (James – 090-1847-5075) to coordinate a meeting place.

INFO:
If you come late, it will be about a 25-min walk to our location on the river at the waterline between the Shinjuku Line train bridge and the Kasaibashi Bridge. Also call James’ cell phone 090-1847-5075 if there are any problems finding us.

RAIN:
In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled as we will use rain ware and take cover as necessary. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds (e.g., typhoon conditions) or lightning then the event will be cancelled or stopped if already in progress.
