今日のイベント(4月29日)(金)遊女の滝のハイキングは、午後から雨が予想されているため、キャンセルとなります。 Today’s event (April 29)(Fri) Yujo Water Fall Hiking is canceled due to rain being expected this afternoon.

 

(Intermediate)(Participation Fee 1000 yen) (Cancelled in case of rain)

Meeting place and time: At the ticket gate of Suruga-oyama Station on the Gotemba Line at 10:57 am

Train:(if you are coming from Shinjuku),take the 9:01 express Odakyuu Line train (going towards
Odawara) to Shin-Matsuda (arriving at 10:22). Walk to Matsuda Station (which has the JR Gotemba Line) and get on the 10:33 train.  This train arrives at Suruga-oyama at 10:54

(DEFINITELY get on this train!!!  We can’t wait for the next one and are not able to attend to late comers since they are infrequent)

Please bring your lunch and drink (There are no stores near the station).

Course: We will hike from the station to the beautiful Yuujo Waterfall (where we have lunch), then to the Ashigara Pass, and return to Ashigara Station (on the Gotemba Line).

Walking time is about 4 hours (13 km)
Elevation Gain: About 500 meters

(1) Yanesen Azalea Walk & (2) Arakawa River Clean Up (Separate Events)

(1) Yanesen Azalea Walk
(Easy)(¥1000 Participation Fee) (Cancelled in case of heavy rain)

There are plenty of old temples and old buildings from the Edo Period still standing in Yanesen. The azalea garden at Nezu Shrine has over 3,000 flowers and 100 varieties of Azalea that bloom from early April until early May. Bunkyo Azalea Festival will be held on a reduced scale.

Meeting Time/Place: 15:00 JR Nippori Station north ticket gate

Course: Nippori Station – Yanaka Ginza – Okakura Tenshin Memorial Park – Kannōnji Tsuijibei – Nezu Shrine – Nezu Station☆Walking Time: About 1 hour (3km) plus a lot of time for shopping and sightseeing so the walk  should take about 2 hours. You can buy food and drink on the way.

Gather at Nishi Kasai Station (Tozai Line) outside the only ticket gate at 13:00, and then go to the Arakawa River and pick up trash along the banks for about about 3 hours.

If you come late, it will be about a 25 min. walk to our location between the Kasaibashi Bridge and the Tozai Line Bridge. Call James’ (the organizer) cell phone 090-1847-5075 if there are any problems finding us.

RAIN

In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled. Please bring rain gear and we will take shelter (under a bridge) until any downpours let up. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds (e.g., typhoon conditions) or lightning then the event will be cancelled (and usually moved to a different day). Let’s have fun enjoying our local nature while making it better at the same time.

Mt. Takagawa Hiking

Meeting Place and Time: Hatsukari Station ticket gate at 10:15 am

Train: The train is not running frequently and we can’t wait for the next train.  Please make sure to meet at the appointed time since we won’t be able to attend to latecomers.

JR Chuo Line Takao Station (going towards Kofu) Departure: 9:24 ⇒ Hatsukari Station Arrival: 10:13

Course: Hatsukari Station – Mt. Takagawa (976m) – Tenjin Pass – Batou Goddess of Mercy – Ootsuki Station
From the top of the mountain, we have a 360 degree panoramic view, including beautiful Mt. Fuji.

About 5 hours of walking.

Please bring your lunch and drinks.

Please also wear proper hiking shoes (or exercise shoes).

Train: Kanazawa Bunko Departure (Keihin-Kyuko Line going towards Zushi-Hayama) 10:07 – Zushi-Hayama Arrival 10:19

We will take a bus from outside the station (#6 going towards Nagai) at 10:32. This arrives at TateIshi at 10:51. We will begin our hike from there.

Course: Zushi-Hayama Station – TateIshi Bus Stop (by bus) – Akiya Coast – Maeda River – Mt. Ogusu (242m) – Kinugasayama Park – Kinugasa Station

Walking Time: about 4 -5 hours

Bring your lunch and drinks. Please wear good shoes for hiking.

Sagami Green Path Walk

(Easy)(Participation Fee 1000 yen・Cancelled in case of rain)

Meeting place and time: Time: Machida Station’s Odakyu North Gate at 10:22 am

Train: If you are coming from Shinjuku, take the Odakyu Express train (going towards Fujisawa) at 9:49 and get off at Machida Station, arriving at 10:20.

Course:  Machida Station – Sagami Green Area – Komorebi Woods (Lunch) – Yamato Pedestrian Walkway  – Minami Rinkan Station (Odakyuu Line)

Walking Time: About 3 Hours (10 km) plus a lot of time for fun, so this walk should take about 4-5 hours. We go through residential areas, fields and woods.  There’s some walking along the roads but mostly on designed city walking paths.

Gather at FUNABORI Station (Shinjuku Line) outside the ticket gate at 13:00, and then go to the Arakawa River and pick up trash along the river bank for about about 3 to 3 and half hours.

If you come late, it will be about a 25-min walk to our location on the river at the waterline between the Shinjuku Line train bridge and the Kasaibashi Bridge. Also call James (the organizer)  090-1847-5075 if there are any problems finding us.

RAIN:

In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled as we will use rain ware and take cover as necessary. Cherry Blossom Hiking in Chichibu

Meeting Place/Time: Bushu-Nakagawa Station at 10:10 am

Train: Be sure to arrive by this time since we will be unable to wait for the next train and attend to the latecomers.  Please come to the meeting place at the appointed time.

From Hanno Station, take the 8:53 am Seibu Chichibu Line train (going towards Mitsumine-Guchi).  This arrives at Bushu-Nakagawa Station at 10:08.

Course: BushuuNakagawa Station – Seiunji Temple (Weeping Cherry Tree) – Gokoku Goddess of Mercy Statue – Choja Mansion Remains – Hitsujiyama Park (Cherry Blossom Viewing) – Chichibu Station

Actual walking time is about 4.5 hours.

This course is full of cherry trees, and we stop at 2 famous places for
cherry blossom viewing (Koganei Park and Inokashira Park)

10:30 am

Train: If you are coming from Shinjuku, take the SeibuShinjuku Line at 9:56 from SeibuShinjuku Station (the express going towards Haijima) to Kadaira station, arriving at 10:27

Course: Kodaira Station – Kodaira Traditional Village – Tama Lake Cycling Course – Koganei Park (Lunch and Cherry Viewing) – Tama Josui River – Mitaka Sation (buy food and drink) – Inogashira Park (Cherry Viewing) – Kichijoji Station

Walking Time: 5 hours (12 km)

Meeting Place and Time: Ichikawa-mama Station (on the Keisei Honsen Line)  ticket gate at 10:33 am
(if you’re taking Keisei Honsen Line bound for Keisei-tsudanuma), it will arrive at 10:32 am)

Course: This walk is filled with cherry trees, and goes through parks (Kozukayama Park and Junsai-Ike Pond Park), shrines/temples (Atago Shrine and Guho-ji Temple, and a Walking Path of Literature (Sakuradote Park), and finishes with a 2 km tree lined river walk.

Walking distance is about 12 km and we should finish around 5:00 pm.
