Niemonjima is located in Kamogawa in Southern Boso Peninsula, owned by a private owner. The island is designated as a place of scenic beauty by Chiba Prefecture and selected as one of Shin Nihon Hyakkei (newly-selected 100 beautiful sceneries in Japan). You can go to the island on a rare old-style boat with two paddles within about five minutes.

By purchasing a limited express ticket via Japan Railway’s EkiNet website, you can access a big saving of 35% of the standard fare.

Train: If you are coming from Tokyo, take the 9:00 JR Limited Express Wakashio from Tokyo Station (going towards Awa-Kamogawa). This arrives at Awa-Kamogawa Station at 10:53. Take the 10:58 Uchibo Line train going towards Kisarazu. This train arrives at Futomi Station at 11:02. The trains are running infrequently and we will be unable to wait for the next train.  Please be sure to arrive by the appointed meeting time.

Train (Coming back to Tokyo): If you are going back to Tokyo,  take the 15:22 JR Uchibo Line train from Futomi Station (going towards Kazusa-Ichinomiya). This arrives at Awa-Kamogawa Station at 15:26. Take the 15:35 JR Limited Express Wakashio 16 (going towards Tokyo). This arrives at Tokyo Station at 17:34.

Course: Futomi Station – Dock – Niemonjima – Dock – Futomi Station
Sightseeing time is about 4 hours.

Relaxing riverside: 18:00-18:30

RIVER CLEAN UP

Gather at FUNABORI Station (Shinjuku Line) outside the ticket gate at 14:30, and then go to the Arakawa River and pick up trash along the river bank for about about 3 to 3 and half hours.

If you come late, it will be about a 25-min walk to our location on the river at the waterline between the Shinjuku Line train bridge and the Kasaibashi Bridge. Also call James (the organizer) cell phone 090-1847-5075 if there are any problems finding us.

RAIN

In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled as we will use rain ware and take cover as necessary. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds (e.g., typhoon conditions) or lightning then the event will be cancelled or stopped if already in progress.
