RIVER CLEAN UP:

Gather at FUNABORI Station (Shinjuku Line) outside the ticket gate at 13:00, and then go to the Arakawa River and pick up trash along the river bank for about about 3 to 3 and half hours.

INFO:

If you come late, it will be about a 25-min walk to our location on the river at the waterline between the Shinjuku Line train bridge and the Kasaibashi Bridge. Also call James (the organizer)  090-1847-5075 if there are any problems finding us.

RAIN:

In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled as we will use rain ware and take cover as necessary. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds (e.g., typhoon conditions) or lightning then the event will be cancelled or stopped if already in progress. Let’s have fun enjoying our local nature while making it better at the same time.

Cherry Blossom Hiking in Chichibu

(¥1000 Participation Fee) (Canceled in case of rain) (Easy Intermediate Course)

Meeting Place/Time: Bushu-Nakagawa Station at 10:10 am

Train: Be sure to arrive by this time since we will be unable to wait for the next train and attend to the latecomers.  Please come to the meeting place at the appointed time.

From Hanno Station, take the 8:53 am Seibu Chichibu Line train (going towards Mitsumine-Guchi).  This arrives at Bushu-Nakagawa Station at 10:08.

Course: BushuuNakagawa Station – Seiunji Temple (Weeping Cherry Tree) – Gokoku Goddess of Mercy Statue – Choja Mansion Remains – Hitsujiyama Park (Cherry Blossom Viewing) – Chichibu Station

Actual walking time is about 4.5 hours.

This course is full of cherry trees, and we stop at 2 famous places for
cherry blossom viewing (Koganei Park and Inokashira Park)

Meeting Place/Time:  Kodaira Station (Seibu Shinjuku Line) Ticket Gate
10:30 am

Train: If you are coming from Shinjuku, take the SeibuShinjuku Line at 9:56 from SeibuShinjuku Station (the express going towards Haijima) to Kadaira station, arriving at 10:27

Course: Kodaira Station – Kodaira Traditional Village – Tama Lake Cycling Course – Koganei Park (Lunch and Cherry Viewing) – Tama Josui River – Mitaka Sation (buy food and drink) – Inogashira Park (Cherry Viewing) – Kichijoji Station

Walking Time: 5 hours (12 km)

Meeting Place and Time: Ichikawa-mama Station (on the Keisei Honsen Line)  ticket gate at 10:33 am
(if you’re taking Keisei Honsen Line bound for Keisei-tsudanuma), it will arrive at 10:32 am)

Course: This walk is filled with cherry trees, and goes through parks (Kozukayama Park and Junsai-Ike Pond Park), shrines/temples (Atago Shrine and Guho-ji Temple, and a Walking Path of Literature (Sakuradote Park), and finishes with a 2 km tree lined river walk.

Walking distance is about 12 km and we should finish around 5:00 pm.

Cherry Blossom Walk along Meguro River

It’s one of the best places to see cherry blossoms in Tokyo.

Meeting Time/Place: 13:00 Tokyu Denentoshi Line Ikejiri-Ohashi Station Ticket Gate

Course: Ikejiri-Ohashi Station – Sugekari Park – Saigoyama Park – Nakameguro – Meguro Shimbashi – Meguro Otori Shrine – Meguro Station

Walking&Sightseeing Time: About 2 hours (7km).

Please be sure to come to the meeting place at the appointed time.

Train:  If you are coming from Shinjuku, Shinjuku Station (Keio Line Express towards Takao-sanguchi) departing at 9:30 and arriving at Takao-sanguchi at 9:24.

Course:  Takao-sanguchi Station – Mt. Inari – Mt. Takao – Takao Plum Tree
Road (Plum Blossoms) – Ura-takao – Takao Station (JR/Keio Lines)

Walking time:  4.5 hours

Please bring your own lunch and drinks for lunch, also wear good hiking shoes.

Course: Umegaoka Station – Hanegi Plum park (and lunch) – Kitazawagawa Green Road – Karasuyamagawa Green Road – ChitoseFunabashi Station (Odakyu Line)

The course is about 9 km and should finish around 4:00; however, you can leave anytime you’d like since stations are always nearby.

RIVER CLEAN UP

Gather at Myoden Station (Tozai Line) outside the only ticket gate at 13:00., and then go to the Edogawa River by car and pick up trash along the banks for about about 3 to 4 hours.

OPTIONAL MORNING SESSION
:

As I am often on the river in the morning doing some scouting and precleaning, people welcome to join me at that time, but please make specific arrangements with me by e-mail, arrival time, location, etc. Also, members can clean at any time and even any date. Just bring some clear bags and sort the trash collected, buranable, PET, cans, bottles, nonburanble, etc. and let me know where you leave the bags so that we can collect them.

If you come late, it will be about a 25-min walk to our location on the opposite side of the river from the Clean Spa. Just walk to the river from the station and the head in the direction of Tokyo Bay until you see us along the water line. In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT becancelled as we will move to and from the river by car and we can clean up under cover the bay front bridges as a Plan B as well as adjacent areas using rain ware. Those who wish to go with David, please meet at Hino Station (on the Chuo Line) ticket gate at 9:27.  We will take the 9:32 bus from there (15 minutes).

Work hours: (Cutting down old tree growth, gathering/chopping wood) 10:00 – 15:30

Please wear long pants and long-sleeved shirt and exercise shoes.

Okutama Hiking and Plum Blossoms!

Meeting place and time: Futamatao Station at  10:25AM.

Train: If you are coming from Shinjuku, take the 9:08 Chuo Line Super Express train from Shinjuku Station (going towards Oume). This arrives at Oume Station at 10:07. Go across the platform and take the 10:13 train  going towards Okutama.  This train arrives at Futamatao Station at 10:24 (25).

The trains are running infrequently and we will be unable towait for the next train.  Please be sure to arrive by the appointed meeting time.

Course: Atago Shrine – Mt. Atago (584 m) – Mt. Mimuro (647 m) – Yoshino Plum Park – Hinatawada Station (about 4 hours)

Please wear appropriate shoes for a hike and bring your lunch and drinks.
