Meeting Time &  Place: Kichijoji Station South (Park) Ticket Gate at 11:30 am

Course: Kichijoji Station → Inokashira Park (Picnic) → Tamagawa Josui Walk → Temple Town → Chitosekarasuyama Station

Walking time: About 3 hours / 8 km

You can bring your own food/drinks or buy them on the way to the park.

 

2) Edogawa River Clean Up

Gather at Myoden Station: 14:30
River Clean Up: 15:00
Return to station: 19:00

RIVER CLEAN UP

Gather at Myoden Station (Tozai Line) outside the only ticket gate at 14:30, and then go to the Edogawa River and pick up trash along the banks for about about 3.5 to 4 hours.

If you come late, it will be about a 25-min walk to our location on the opposite side of the river from the Clean Spa under the bay front bridges. Just walk to the river from the station and the head to the orange bridge. Also call James’ (the organizer) cell phone 090-1847 5075 if there are any problems finding us.

RAIN
In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled as we will move to and from the river by car and we can clean up under cover the bay front bridges as a Plan B as well as adjacent areas using rain ware. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds (e.g., typhoon conditions) or lightning then the event will be cancelled.

Those who wish to go with David, please meet at Hino Station (on the Chuo Line) ticket gate at 9:27.  We will take the 9:32 bus from there (15 minutes).

Work hours: 10:00 – 15:30
 (Cutting down bamboo grass, arranging some woods for mushroom planting)

Take the 10:18 train from Takao (JR Chuo Line going towards Ootsuki) and get off at Ootsuki Station, arriving at 10:55

Level: Intermediate level

Course: Ootsuki Station – Mt. Kikuka – Gozen-yama – Saruhashi Bridge – Saruhashi Station

Walking time: About 3.5 – 4 hours.

Saruhashi (The Monkey Bridge) is one of 3 famous ancient bridges of Japan.

There may be a swimming spot (or a place to dip your feet) on the river near Saruhashi Bridge. If you are interested in swimming, bring a swimsuit.

Please wear appropriate shoes for the hike and bring lunch and plenty of liquids.

Hydrangea Walk

Chiba’s Hondoji Temple is know as the hydrangea temple. Located about 40 minutes away from Tokyo in the suburb of Matsudo, exploring this area where more than 50,000 hydrangeas are in full bloom is one of the best things to do in Chiba.

Meeting Time/Place:  10:00AM at JR Joban Line Kita-Kogane Station ticket gate

Course : Kita-Kogan Station – Oyaguchi Historical Park – Hondoji – Negiuchi Historical Park – Kita-Kogane Station

Walking Time: A little over an hour (about 5km) plus a lot of time for sightseeing so the walk should take about 2 hours.

Work hours : The main type of work are cutting down bamboo grass. 9:30 am – 3:00 pm

If you would like to participate, please inform David by June 22 (Thursday) at jambodave@green.email.ne.jp so that we can get volunteer insurance.

If you join this event, please bring the following: Long sleeved shirt and long pants (not shorts), work gloves, towel, and appropriate shoes (trekking shoes or hiking boots) are required.

Kamakura Hiking and Beach

(Participation Fee 1000 yen)(Easy Course) (Will be held even in light rain)

Meeting place and time: At the South ticket gate of Kitakamakura Station (on the Yokosuka Line) at 10:25 am (cross the tracks and go out the ticket gate).

Train: From Yokohama Station, take the 10:01 Yokosuka Line train (towards Zushi).  This arrives at Kitakamakura at 10:23.

Course: Kitakamakura Station – Daibutsu Hiking Course (and Genjiyama Park) – “Wash your Money” Cave Shrine – Joju-in (Excellent coast view & Hydrangea) – Yuigahama Beach (Beach fun and swim) – Kamakura Station

Walking Time: about 4 hours
