Meeting Place/Time: Musashi-Itsukaichi station ticket gate at 10.55am, the train arives at 10.54am (JR Itsukaichi line)
Please make sure to arrive by this time. Gary will be in the front car from Tachikawa station.
Hiking route: Musashi-Itsukaichi station to Akigawa river, along riverside path, in to forest (Mu Komine hill), Kongo waterfall, Komine Park (cherry blossom and shrines), station.
Walking Time: 4 Hours
A pleasant walk by the river through market garden farmland, then a gradual ascent in to the forest with some views back to the town; a short diversion to the waterfall – small but enchanting, and with an unusual method of access! – then back through Komine Park which has a number of shrines and a lot of cherry trees which hopefully will be in blossom. The going is fairly easy: part of the riverside path is prone to landslides but is well maintained; there is a short, low tunnel to get through to reach the waterfall.
Please don’t forget to have your rucksack and exercise shoes or hiking boots to avoid your injury.
