1) Environmental Project at Tama Zoo & 2) Arakawa River Clean Up (Separate Events)

Cancelled in case of 70% or more chance of rain) 9:30 am – 3:00 pm

The main types of work are cutting down old trees, clearing out dead wood, and raking leaves.

Meeting place and time: 9:30 am at the front main entrance of Tama Zoo’s Station (Tama Dobutsukoen).

Cost: FREE

TrainIf you are going from Shinjuku, take the 8:43 Keio Line Semi-express from Shinjuku to Takahatafudo (arriving at 9:20) and change to the Keio Dobutsu Koen Line train, leaving Takahatafudo at 9:27 and arriving at Tama Dobutsu Koen Station at 9:30.

If you would like to participate, please inform David (at jambodave@green.email.ne.jp) by December 11 (Friday) by noon so that we can get volunteer insurance.

Things to bring: Long sleeved shirt and long pants (not shorts), work gloves, towel, and appropriate shoes (trekking shoes or hiking boots) are required.

Please bring whatever you want to eat for lunch, and drinks during the work project.

2) Arakawa River Clean Up

Meetup riverside: 13:00 (not the station)

River Clean Up: 13:15-16:30

Relaxing riverside: 16:30-17:00

RIVER CLEAN UP

At Yahiro, we will meetup riverside in front of the boat dock, which is next to the train line bridge. This is only a 6-7 minute walk from the station. We will then pick up trash along the river bank for about about 3 to 3 and half hours with a break in the middle. Call James (the organizer) cell phone 090-1847-5075 if there are any problems finding us.

RAIN:

In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled as we will use rain ware and take cover as necessary. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds (e.g., typhoon conditions) or lightning then the event will be cancelled or stopped if already in progress.
