Meeting place and time: At Izu-Hakone Daiyuuzan Line’s Iidaoka Station Ticket Gate at 11:00 am

Train: 9:01  Shinjuku (Odakyu Line (Express going towards Odawara) and get off at Odawara (arriving at 10:38), 10:45 Izu-Hakone Daiyuuzan train going towards Daiyuuzan.  This arrives at Iidaoka Station at 10:55.

Course:  Odawara Station – Odawara Flower Garden – Ikoi Forest – Wanpaku Park (One hour stay)  – Odawara Castle Park (Wisteria, Azalea) – Odawara Station

The total walking time for the hike will be about 4 hours.

Meeting Time & Place: 10:18 am at Ashigakubo Station’s ticket gate

Train: Take the Seibu Chichibu Line train from Hanno Station at 9:32. This arrives at Ashigakubo at 10:15

Make sure to be on this train as we cannot wait for the next one.

Hiking Course:  Ashigakubo Station – Mountain Flower Road – Hitsujiyama  Park – Chichibu Station (The total walking time is about 4 hours)

Please bring your lunch and drink.

 

2) Arakawa River Clean Up

RIVER CLEAN UP
Gather at Myoden Station (Tozai Line) outside the only ticket
gate at 13:00, and then go to the Edogawa River and pick up
trash along the banks for about about 3.5 to 4 hours.

If you come late, it will be about a 25-min walk to our
location on the opposite side of the river from the Clean Spa under
the bay front bridges. Just walk to the river from the station and the

RAIN
In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT
be cancelled as we will move to and from the river by car and we can
clean up under cover the bay front bridges as a Plan B as well as
adjacent areas using rain ware. In the event of heavy rain/strong
winds (e.g., typhoon conditions) or lightning then the event will be
cancelled.

1) Yanesen Azalea Walk & 2) Environmental Project (Separate Events)

1) Yanesen Azalea Walk (Easy)

There are plenty of old temples and old buildings from the Edo Period
still standing in Yanesen. The azalea garden at Nezu Shrine has over
3,000 flowers and 100 varieties of Azalea that bloom from early April
until early May. Bunkyo Azalea Festival will be held as well.

Meeting Time/Place: 11:00AM at JR Nippori Station north ticket gate

Course: Nippori Station – Yanaka Ginza – Sudo Park – Zenshoan Temple –  Nezu Shrine – Nezu Station

Walking Time: About 1 hour (3km) plus a lot of time for shopping and sightseeing so the walk should take about 2 hours.

 (Carrying logs, wood splitting,  etc)

Please wear long pants and long-sleeved shirt and exercise shoes. Please bring your own drinks, food (for lunch) and work gloves.

Bicycle rental reservation required

We’ll have a relaxing bike ride from JR Mitaka Station, have a picnic at Koganei Park, and enjoy the fresh greenery all the way to Tama Lake along the cycling route. How about feeling the spring breeze while enjoying a fun cycling trip? We might even get a chance to see the late-blooming cherry blossoms.

★For those who need a bicycle rental (Reservation required)
Please make a reservation with Miki at seitansai1335@yahoo.co.jp by 4 pm on April 4 (Thursday). We will make a group, bicycle rental reservation with the Suzukake Bicycle rental place.

Those who make a bicycle reservation will gather at 9:30 at the south exit plaza of Mitaka Station (near the bridge over the Tamagawa Josui). The staff will be waiting at the south exit plaza, and we will head to the bicycle parking lot together from there.

★For those participating with their own bicycles
Gather at 10:00 at the south exit plaza of Mitaka Station.

Route: Mitaka Station → Koganei Park → Tama Lake → Inokashira Park (Goal, with planned arrival at 15:00)

After explaining the course at 10:00, we will start to ride. Please bring lunch, drinks, vinyl sheets (and frisbees, balls, or whatever you like). You can also buy food and drinks along the way. We recommend wearing helmets for cyclists.

Our final destination will be Inokashira Park, but after that (if the late-blooming cherry blossoms are still in bloom), let’s enjoy a party (while cherry blossom viewing). Basically, people are free to go home anytime (before, during, or after the park party).

Course: Eifukucho Station (Keio Inokashira Line) – Ryukoji Temple – Wada Bori Park – Zenpukuji Green Park  – Hamadayama Station (Keio Inokashira Line)

Walking Time: About 2 hours (5.5 km)

Part 2): Kanda River “Full of Cherry Blossoms” Walk

Meeting place and time: 11:45 am at Hamadayama Station (Keio Inokashira Line) ticket gate

Course : Hamadayama Station – Tsukayama Park (Lunch) – Walk along the Kanda River (full of Cherry Trees) – Inokashira Park

We will have a cherry blossom viewing party in the park after the walk (probably from about 4:00 pm).

Chidorigafuchi Night Cherry Blossom Viewing

★According to the weather forecast, it looks like the rain will stop in the early after afternoon and tonight is nice, so today’s event is on as planned. There’s a possibility that the ground might be wet, so please bring a sheet to sit on if you have one.

★The party place – In Kita no Maru Park next to the pond, which is past the Budokan on the right side.

Mt. Ogusu Hiking

Meeting Place and Time: Kinugasa Station at 10:12 am

Train: From Zushi station, take the 9:55 Yokosuka Line train towards Kurihama.  Get off at Kinugasa Station at 10:10

Hiking Course: Kinugasa Station – Kinugasayama Parke (2000 cherry trees
and ranked in the top 100 cherry tree spots in Japan) – Mt. Oogusu (242m) –
Tsukayama Park (with 10,000 cherry trees) – Anjinzuka Station

The hike itself is about 5 hours.

Please be noted that we are unsure whether the cherry blossoms will be in bloom on the day of the hike.

The Kanda River is a mostly man-made aqueduct designed to bring drinking water to the shogun’s capital. Let’s enjoy walking along the river viewing nature and history.

Course: Edogawabashi Station – Edogawa Park – Site of Kanda Freshwater Intake Ōarai Weir – Sekiguchi Bashoan – Basho Residence – Fish Path -Totsuka Regional Center – Takadanobaba Station
