Meeting Time/Place: 10:50 at Tobu Takezawa Station ticket gate

Train:  Please make sure to come by the appointed time.  Trains are not running frequently and we can’t wait for the next train and attend to the latecomers.

If you are going from Ikebukuro, take the following trains: Ikebukuro Departure (Tobu Tojo Rapid Express towards Ogawamachi) 9:30, Ogawamachi Station Arrival – 10:38 and change trains (Tobu Tojo local train going for Yorii) Ogawamachi Departure – 10:44,  Tobu Takezawa Arrival – 10:47

Course: Tobu Takezawa Station – Mt. Kinsho – Tenno Marsh  Mt. Kannokurayama –  Mt.Sekison – Ogawawamachi Station
We will have a 5 hour hike that takes us up 3 low mountains (250m – 450m) and next to a marsh.

RIVER CLEAN UP
Gather at FUNABORI Station (Shinjuku Line) outside the ticket gate at 13:00, and then go to the Arakawa River and pick up trash along the river bank for about about 3.5 to 4 hours.

If you come late, it will be about a 25-min walk to our location between the Shinjuku Line train bridge and the Kasaibashi Bridge. Also call James (the organizer) cell phone 090-1847-5075 if there are any problems finding us.

RAIN:
In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled. Please bring rain gear and we will take shelter (under a bridge) until any downpours let up. . Nogawa Walking Course & Jindaiji Temple area & Botanical Park (Rose Garden & Chrysanthemums Show)!

(EASY)(¥1000 Participation Fee (Children free) (¥500 Park Entrance Fee) (Will be held even in light rain)

Meeting Place/Time: Chuo Line’s Higashi Koganei Station’s South Exit at 9:00 am

Train: Shinjuku Departure – 8:39 (Chuo Line Super Express train going towardsTakao), Mitaka Arrival – 8:51,  (change trains), Mitaka Departure – 8:53 (Chuo Express going towards Takao).  This arrives at Higashi Koganei at 8:57.

This is an 6 km course that runs through the suburbs and about half of the walk is along the Nogawa River.  We arrive at Jindaiji temple before noon, where we can enjoy the traditional Japanese atmosphere and have its famous soba noodles if you’d like (or you can bring/buy your own lunch and eat it outside as well).

We then finish up at Jindai Botanical Park, where there’s a Chrysanthemums Show and rose garden.  The entrance fee to the park is ¥500 for adults, ¥250 for those over 65 and¥200 those 15 years and younger.

Walking time should be about 4 hours.

We plan to take the 16:06 Chuo Line train at Fujino Station and arrive at Mitaka at 17:03 for those who wish to attend the Halloween Party.

2) Inokashira Park Outdoor Halloween Party

Meeting place and time: At the TICKET GATE of Mitaka Station (Chuo line) at 5:05 pm

If you are coming later than the appointed time (After the meeting time, we won’t be able to check the messages on the cell often), please call us at 080-6546-7688, not the text messages.

The party will be possibly at the backside of Inokashira park nearest to Mitaka station. However, the exact location will be decided on the day.

Things to Bring: Food and drinks (for the party), any fun Halloween goods, costume (for those wishing to dress up), ground sheet

We will stop by Ozeki Supermarket (on the south side of Mitaka Station on the way to the park, so you can buy drinks/snacks there. There is a toilet in the park where you can change into your costume. We’ll plan to finish (arrive at Kichijoji Station) around 21:00

In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled as we will move to and from the river by car and we can clean up under cover the bay front bridges as a Plan B as well as adjacent areas using rain ware. Those who wish to go with David, please meet at Hino Station (on the Chuo Line) ticket gate at 9:27.  We will take the 9:32 bus from there (15 minutes).

 (Cutting down old trees, splitting wood, carrying logs)

Forest Park Adventure

(Easy, FREE (no Jambo fee but the park entrance fee is ¥450), Canceled in case of rain)

Meeting time/place: 10:50 am at the ShinrinKoen Station ticket gate

Train: For those going from Ikebukuro, Ikebukuro Departure (TobuTojo Line going towards Ogawamachi) – 10:00, ShinrinKoen Arrival – 10:48

From Shinrin Koen Station, we go to the North Exit bus area and take the 11:02 bus to ShinrinKoen’s South Gate (takes 5 minutes and costs ¥210).

This is a huge, beautiful park in Saitama with wonderful gardens, woods, nature and bike paths, a frisbee golf course, etc. There are many kinds of flowers in bloom, especially the cockscomb and coleus fields.
