Kodaira is promoting its abundance of nature and green environment. Let’s take a walk and enjoy the beauty of nature and communicate through nature.

☆Meeting Time/Place: 10:30AM at Seibu Haijima Line Higashi-yamatoshi Station ticket gate

☆Course: Higashi-yamatoshi Station – Morita Open Garden – Tamagawa – Josui Promenade Sewerage Museum – Shibayama Garden – Irori-no-sato – Takanodai Station

☆Walking Time: About 1.5 hours (about 6km) plus a lot of time for sightseeing so the walk should take about 2 hours.

RIVER CLEAN UP
Gather at FUNABORI Station (Shinjuku Line) outside the ticket gate at 13:00, and then go to the Arakawa River and pick up trash along the river bank for about about 3.5 to 4 hours.

If you come late, it will be about a 25-min walk to our location between the Shinjuku Line train bridge and the Kasaibashi Bridge. Also call James (the organizer) cell phone 090-1847-5075 if there are any problems finding us.

RAIN:
In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled. Please bring rain gear and we will take shelter (under a bridge) until any downpours let up. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds (e.g.,typhoon conditions) or lightning then the event will be cancelled (and usually moved to a different day). Meeting Place/Time: JR Fujino Station Ticket Gate at 10:18 am

Train: (Be sure to get on this train if you are coming from Takao, as we cannot wait for the next train and attend to the latecomers.)

9:57 Take the JR Chuo Line (towards Matsumoto) from Takao Station – 10:15 Arrive at Fujino Station

Course: JR Fujino Station – Benten Bridge – Mt. Kongo (456m) – Tenjin Ridge – Mt. Takakura (379m) – JR Fujino Station

Walking time should be about 4 hours.

We plan to take the 16:06 Chuo Line train at Fujino Station and arrive at Mitaka at 17:03 for those who wish to attend the Halloween Party.

2) Inokashira Park Outdoor Halloween Party
(FREE) (Cancelled in case of rain)

Meeting place and time: At the TICKET GATE of Mitaka Station (Chuo line) at 5:05 pm

If you are coming later than the appointed time (After the meeting time, we won’t be able to check the messages on the cell often), please call us at 080-6546-7688, not the text messages.

The party will be possibly at the backside of Inokashira park nearest to Mitaka station. However, the exact location will be decided on the day.

Things to Bring: Food and drinks (for the party), any fun Halloween goods, costume (for those wishing to dress up), ground sheet

We will stop by Ozeki Supermarket (on the south side of Mitaka Station on the way to the park, so you can buy drinks/snacks there. There is a toilet in the park where you can change into your costume. We’ll plan to finish (arrive at Kichijoji Station) around 21:00

Meeting Place/Time: JR Gotemba Line’s Yamakita Station Ticket Gate at 10:18 am

Train: Please make sure to arrive at Yamakita on this train (or before) as we cannot wait for the next one (JR Gotemba Line).  Please come to the meeting place by the appointed time  since we won’t be able to attend to latecomers.

If you are going from Shinjuku –  Shinjuku Station (Odakyu Line Express going towards Odawara) departing at 8:40 am – Shinmatsuda Station arriving at 9:59 – Matsuda Station (JR Gotemba Line towards Gotemba) departing at 10:08– Yamakita Station arriving at 10:15

Course: Yamakita Station – Biri Do – Mt. Takamatsu (801 m) – Hisari Pass – Shin-Matsuda Station (Odakyu Line)

Walking Time: 5.5 hours

Bring your own beverages and food for lunch. Please wear appropriate shoes (trekking shoes etc) to avoid your injury.

After the hike, we (those who want to go) are going to check out Kawagoe Festival.  We will take the train to HonKawagoe Station (planning to arrive there at 17:01) the parade will have already finished, but the floats will be out and there will be music along with a festive atmosphere. Gather at Myoden Station (Tozai Line) outside the only ticket gate at 13:00, and then go to the Edogawa River and pick up trash along the banks for about about 3.5 to 4 hours.

If you come late, it will be about a 25-min walk to our location on the opposite side of the river from the Clean Spa under the bay front bridges. RAIN
In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled as we will move to and from the river by car and we can clean up under cover the bay front bridges as a Plan B as well as adjacent areas using rain ware. Satoyama Nature Exploratory Course

Train Schedule: If you are coming from Shinjuku, Shinjuku Station Departure (Keio Line express going towards Takaosanguchi) – 10:49, Keio-Katakura Station Arrival – 11:31

Course: Keio-Katakura Station – Katakura Palace Remains Park (lunch) – Mixed Forest Road – Mt. Fuji Lookout Point – Mt. Ootsuka Park – Silk Road – KamiYuugi Park – Minami-Oosawa Station (Keio Line)

Walking Time: About 4 Hours (10 km)

Please bring your food and drink with you. (We will not stop at any stores after meeting). We finish a walk at the outlet near Minami-Osawa station.

Meeting Place and time: 9:47 am at Utsugidai Bus Stop
Those who wish to go with David, please meet at Hino Station (on the Chuo Line) ticket gate at 9:27.  We will take the 9:32 bus from there (15 minutes).
Work hours: 10:00 – 15:30
 (Cutting down old trees, splitting wood, carrying logs)

Please wear long pants and long-sleeved shirt and exercise shoes. Please bring your own drinks, food (for lunch) and work gloves.

Forest Park Adventure

(Easy, FREE (no Jambo fee but the park entrance fee is ¥450), Canceled in case of rain)

Meeting time/place: 10:50 am at the ShinrinKoen Station ticket gate

Train: For those going from Ikebukuro, Ikebukuro Departure (TobuTojo Line going towards Ogawamachi) – 10:00, ShinrinKoen Arrival – 10:48

From Shinrin Koen Station, we go to the North Exit bus area and take the 11:02 bus to ShinrinKoen’s South Gate (takes 5 minutes and costs ¥210).

This is a huge, beautiful park in Saitama with wonderful gardens, woods, nature and bike paths, a frisbee golf course, etc. There are many kinds of flowers in bloom, especially the cockscomb and coleus fields.

Train: If you are going from Shinagawa, Shinagawa Departure (KeihinKyuko going towards Misakiguchi) – 9:39,, YRP Nobi Arrival – 10:41

Course: YRP Nobi Station – Nobi Beach (walk along the beach) – Kurihama Flower Park – Perry Park – Keikyuu Kurihama Station

Total course time: 4-5 hours

This route begins with a walk along the beach and then walking along the road with ocean views to Kurihama Flower Park, where there are large Cosmos Flower fields (some are blooming but many were hit by the recent typhoon) and sunflowers are blooming.
