Chidorigafuchi Night Cherry Blossom Viewing

It seems that there will be no food stands at Yasukuni Shrine (too bad!) so we will stay longer than planned at Kitanomaru Park for the party. (We can walk around Chidorigafuchi to see some cherry blossom light-up after the party if we have time).

Meeting place and time: At Exit 3b of Kudanshita Station at 6 pm or in front of the clock tower near Budokan at 6:30 pm

Those meeting at 6:00 will shop at the nearby convenience store. Those coming afterwards, please bring some snacks/drinks.

If you come late, please go to the Kita no Maru Park which is past the Budokan on the left side.  If you can’t find us, please call David and Miki (080-6546-7688) and meet you at the clock just past the Budokan.

The event is on today, but we might shorten the course if there is heavy rain later. For today, we will cancel the 3rd part of the event (Ohanami party in Higashi-Oshima Komatsugawa park from 4 pm).

2) Kiba Park 〜 OjimaKomatsugawa Park  13:00~15:30
Kiba Park →  Sendaikawa Canal cherry walk → Komatsugawa 1000 cherry tree area → Higashi-Ojima Station → Supermarket (shopping) → Ojima-Komatsugawa Park

3) Canceled : OjimaKomatsugawa Park (Hanami Party) FREE (Feel free to come anytime)  16:00 – 17:30

Gather at FUNABORI Station (Shinjuku Line) outside the ticket gate at 13:00, and then ngo to the Arakawa River and pick up trash along the river bank for about about 3.5 to 4 hours.

Cherry Blossom Walk along Meguro River

It’s one of the best places to see cherry blossoms in Tokyo.

Tama loads of cherry trees walk

Course: Odakyu Nagayama Station → Nagayama Cherry Street (Cherry Lined Street) → Suwa South Park → Yokoyama Walking Path → Ipponsugi Park → NishiOchi Cherry Lined Street → Takarano Park → Fujimi (Cherry tree lined) Street → Narahara Park (Cherry trees) → Tsurumaki West Park (Weeping Cherries) →Tama Central Park (Cherry trees) → Tama Center Station

Walking Time: About 3 hours (9 km) plus a lot of time for fun (including looking at the beautiful cherry trees along the way), so the walk should take about 4-5 hours.

Meeting Place/Time:  The ticket gate for Sagamiko Station on the Chuo Line at 9:27 am

Train: The trains are infrequent (with the next train being 40 minutes later), so we cannot wait for the next train.  We need to start the hike according to the schedule, so please understand it is necessary to arrive on time if you want to join us.

Takao Departure (Chuo Line going towards Kofu) 9:17 – Sagamiko Arrival 9:25

Also, please note that the JR time schedule changes from March 18.  Some websites do not reflect this change, so be very careful to make sure you have the right schedule (to get into Takao as well).

RIVER CLEAN UP

Gather at Myoden Station (Tozai Line) outside the only ticket gate at 13:00, and then go to the Edogawa River and pick up trash along the banks for about about 3.5 to 4 hours.

If you come late, it will be about a 25-min walk to our location on the opposite side of the river from the Clean Spa under the bay front bridges. Just walk to the river from the station and the head to the orange bridge. Also call James’ (the organizer) cell phone 090-1847 5075 if there are any problems finding us.

RAIN

In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled as we will move to and from the river by car and we can clean up under cover the bay front bridges as a Plan B as well as adjacent areas using rain ware. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds (e.g., typhoon conditions) or lightning then the event will be cancelled.

Meeting Place and time: 9:47 am at Utsugidai Bus Stop
Those who wish to go with David,  please meet at Hino Station (on the Chuo Line) ticket gate at 9:27.  We will take the 9:32 bus from there (15 minutes).

Work hours: 10:00 – 15:30
 (Splitting wood, planting mushroom spoors, etc)
Please wear long pants and long-sleeved shirt and exercise shoes. Please bring your own drinks, food (for lunch) and work gloves.

Hiking in Chichibu

(Intermediate) (Participation Fee 1000 yen) (Canceled in case of rain)

Meeting Place & Time: At the Yorii Station ticket gate at 11:02 am

Train Schedule: Trains are running in frequently and we won’t wait for the next train.  Please make sure to come by the appointed meeting time since we can’t attend to latecomers.

If you are coming from Ikebukuro, take the Tobu Tojo(Express) Line’s 9:30 train and get off at Ogawamachi Station, arriving at 10:38. Change here to the local train going the same direction towards Yorii, getting on the 10:44 train which arrives at Yorii Station at 11:00.

Course:  Yorii Station – Taisho Pond – Mt. Kanetsukido (330m) – Tsuburata Lake – Mt. Rakan (247m) – Yorii Station

Walking time: About 4.5 hours / about 13 km)

Please wear appropriate shoes for a hike and bring a lunch to eat on the mountain, and plenty of liquids.
