1) Mt. Mitsumine Hike in Tanzawa

Meeting place and time: At the ticket gate of Hon-Atsugi at 9:30 am

Train: If you are going from Shinjuku, take the Odakyuu Line (Express going towards Odawara) from Shinjuku at 8:40 , arriving at Hon-Atsugi at 9:28 And then we will take a bus at 9:40 from Hon-Atsugi Station.  The bus is running VERY INFREQUENTLY  (once an hour) and WE CAN’T ATTEND TO LATECOMERS.  Please make sure to arrive on time.

Bus: 9:40 bus going towards Miyagase, getting off at Susugaya (at 10:12 – 500 Yen).

Course – Susugaya Bus Stop – Mt. Mitsumine – Koutakiji Onsen Iriguchi – Hon-Atsugi Station (by bus)

Walking Time: about 5.5 Hours

Bring your lunch and drinks.  Please wear the appropriate shoes for a hike.

There is an a springs at the end, so if you want to go there, bring towel and a change of clothes.

RIVER CLEAN UP
Gather at Myoden Station (Tozai Line) outside the only ticket gate at 13:00, and then go to the Edogawa River and pick up trash along the banks for about about 3.5 to 4 hours.

If you come late, it will be about a 25-min walk to our location on the opposite side of the river from the Clean Spa under the bay front bridges. Just walk to the river from the station and the head to the orange bridge. Also call James’ (the organizer) cell phone 090-1847 5075 if there are any problems finding us.

RAIN
In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled as we will move to and from the river by car and we can clean up under cover the bay front bridges as a Plan B as well as adjacent areas using rain ware. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds (e.g., typhoon conditions) or lightning then the event will be cancelled.

1) Okutama Hike & Hossawa Waterfall

Meeting place and time: At the ticket gate of JR MusashiItsukaichi Station at 8:54 am

We will take a bus at 9:00 from Musashiitsuka Station.  The bus is running VERY INFREQUENTLY  (the next bus will be one and a half hour later) and we can’t attend to latecomers.  Please make sure to arrive on time.

Train: If you are coming from Shinjuku, take the (JR) Special Holiday Express going towards Musashiitsukaichi at 7:44.

Please be careful and get on the part of the train going to Musashi Itsukaichi (the last stop).  It arrives there at 8:51.

Course: From the station, we will take the 9:00 am bus (920 yen, 50 minutes) going to Sengen-one Tozan Guchi.  We will hike up to Henbori Pass, Mt. Sengen and then down to Hossawa Waterfall (The hiking time is 4.5 hours).  From there we will take the bus back to MusashiItsukaichi Station (490 yen, 22 minutes).

Please bring lunch and drinks.

1) Chichibu Hiking & Icicles of Ashigakubo

On this hike, please make sure to wear appropriate hiking shoes (not tennis shoes or sneakers which has the flat bottom). There is a higher chance that the ground might be frozen (due to the cold weather coming in this week). I appreciate for your understanding for safety reasons.

Meeting Place/Time:  Ashigakubo Station ticket gate at 10:30 am

Train: Trains are running infrequently and we can’t wait for the next train.  Please come to the meeting place on time since we won’t be able to attend to latecomers.

From Ikebukuro, take the Seibu Ikebukuro (Express) Line’s 8:50  train and get off at Hanno Station, arriving there at 9:37 . Change to the Seibu Chichibu Line (across the platform), taking the 9:43 local train.  This arrives at Ashigakubo at 10:27.

Course:  Ashigakubo Station – Oono Pass – Mt. Maruyama (960m) – Icicles of Ashigakubo  – Ashigakubo Station (Walking time: About 5 hours)

Take a look at the Icicles of Ashigakubo (only this season):

Please wear appropriate shoes for a hike and bring a lunch to eat on the mountain, and plenty of liquids.

 

2) Tamagawa River Clean Up

 Return to station.

RIVER CLEAN UP: Gather at DAISHIBASHI Station (Keikyudashi Line) outside the only ticket gate at 13:00, and then go to the Tamagawa River and pick up trash along the banks for about about 3-3.5 hours with a break in the middle.

Yugawara is a hot spring resort town loved by many literary artists. Nestled between mountains and the ocean, it is an area blessed with an abundance of nature’s wonders. You can soak your feet in the soothing onsen waters.

Meeting Time/Place:  10:00 am JR Tokaido Main Line Yugawara Station Ticket Gate

Course: Yugawara Station – Yugawara Ekimae Tourist Information Center – Gosho Shrine – Fukusenji Temple Big Buddha Head – Yugawara Local Collection Museum – Rifuku Shrine – Footbath Doppo-no-Yu – Kofuso – Fudo Waterfall – Yugawara Station

Walking Time: About 1 hour (about 5km) plus a lot of time for sightseeing so the walk should take about 2 hours.

Tama Walk

Meeting place and time: Odakyu Line’s Tama Center Station’s ticket gate at 11:10

Course: This course has a lot of parks, green paths, and lines of trees.

Tama Center Station → Otsuka West Park → Otsuka Park → Otsuka East Park → Atago-yama Green Area → Atago East Park → Tama Center Station (about 7 km)

Enjoy walking in the parks and green paths in the Tama area! We should finish around 4:00 pm.

From Chiba Station, take the Uchibo Line (towards Kimitsu) at 8:44AM.
This arrives at Kisarazu Station at 9:21. Change there to the 9:31
Uchino Line train going towards KazusaIchinomiya. This arrives at
Hamakanaya at 10:11. Definitely make this train as the trains are very
infrequent!

(Temple’s Gate) – Lookout point, Sengen Shrine – Hyakushaku Kannon –
