Meeting Place and time: 9:47 am at Utsugidai Bus Stop
Those who wish to go with David,  please meet at Hino Station (on the Chuo Line) ticket gate at 9:27.  We will take the 9:32 bus from there (15 minutes).

Work hours: 10:00 – 15:30
 (Cutting down old trees, carrying logs, chopping logs,  cleaning up the forest floor)

Please wear long pants and long-sleeved shirt and exercise shoes. Please bring your own drinks, food (for lunch) and work gloves.

Gather at NISHI KASAI Station (Tozai Line) outside the only ticket gate, and then go to the Arakawa River and pick up trash along the banks for about about 3 5 to 4 hours.

In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled.
Please bring rain gear and we will take shelter (under a bridge) until
any downpours let up. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds (e.g.,
typhoon conditions) or lightning then the event will be cancelled (and
usually moved to a different day).

1) Yuujo Waterfall Hiking & 2) Arakawa River Clean Up (Separate Events)

1) Yuujo Waterfall Hiking (Tanzawa)
(Intermediate)(Participation Fee 1000 yen) (Cancelled in case of rain)

★Please bring your lunch since there are no stores near the station.
★For this hike, we can’t attend to latecomers since the train is running infrequently (the next train for Gotenba line is 40 minutes later).

Meeting place and time: At the ticket gate of Surugaoyama Station on the Gotemba Line at 10:57 am

Train: If you are coming from Shinjuku, take the 9:01 express Odakyuu Line train (going towards Odawara) to Shin-Matsuda (arriving at 10:22).  Walk to Matsuda Station (which has the JR Gotemba Line) and get on the 10:33 train.  This train arrives at Surugaoyama at 10:54.

We will hike from the station to the beautiful Yuujo Waterfall (where we have lunch), then to the Ashigara Pass, and return to Ashigara Station (on the Gotemba Line).

Walking time: about 4 hours (about 13 km)
Elevation Gain: About 500 meters

Yokohama Chinatown Walking Tour

Explore the largest Chinatown in Asia. The area provides a wide variety of authentic Chinese food, and attracts many tourists and locals everyday.

Meeting Time/Place: 11:30 JR Keihin-Tohoku Line Ishikawacho Station Chukagai Exit

Course:  Ishikawacho Station – Emperor Guan’s Shrine – Masobyo Mausoleum – Yokohama Daisekai  – Yokohama International Passenger Terminal – Yamashita Park – Yokohama Marine Tower – Motomachi Chukagai Station

Walking&Sightseeing Time: About 2 hours (4km).

Meeting Time & Place:

(in the morning) 9:45 am at the Keikyuu (Keihin Kyuuko) line’s Oppama Station’s ticket gate
(in the afternoon) 12:00 noon (for Latecomers) at the same place above

Train: If you are coming from Shinagawa, Shinagawa Station departure (Keikyu line express going towards Misakiguchi) 8:58 –  Oppama (arrival) 9:41

Course: Oppama Station → Kaminari Shrine → Goddess of Mercy Temple → Enokido Harbor (nice walking course)→ Oppama Station (12:00)→ Takatoriyama Park→ Jinmuji Temple→ Jinmuji Station (about 4 hours)

This course has many historical spots as well as beautiful views of the yacht harbor and rock
walls.

Takatori Course (afternoon part)

It’s a casual board game event. Let’s play various games together.  It’s OK to come late or leave early.  Feel free to sign up. We’ll bring the following games: Waterwork, Uno, Blokus, Jenga, Cards

or near the new Tamagawa Sky Bridge (But walk straight to the
river

we will move to and from the river by car and we can clean up

cover the bay front bridges as a Plan B as well as adjacent areas

Okutama Nokogiri-yama (1109M) and Atago Shrine

(1000 yen, Canceled in case of rain, Intermediate-Advanced Course)

This course is for physically fit people as there is quite steep ascent and high elevation difference.

Meeting place & time: Okutama station ticket gate at 10:00 am

Make sure to be on this train as we cannot attend to latecomers.  The train is running infrequently and we can’t wait for the next train (40 minutes later).

Take the 9:14 Oume line train from Oume Station going towards Okutama. It arrives in Okutama Station at 9:57 am

Course: Okutama station → Atago Shrine →  Nokogiri-yama (1109 meters) →
Okutama station

Elevation Change: 760 m

Walking time: about 4.5 hours (13km)

Please wear good shoes, bring lunch and drink.

The trail, relatively wide and gentle for walking, goes through copse forests. The top of the mountain, where the crater remains, is a lookout of Mt. Fuji.

☆Course: Suzenji Station -bus(0:40)-  Joren-no-taki –  Hachikuboyama(674m) – Joren-no-taki – -bus(0:40)- Shuzenji Station

Kokubunji Ridge Line and Todoroki Gorge Walk

(Easy Course)(1000 Yen) (Will be held even in light rain)

Meeting time and place: 10:43 am at the Kitami Station (on the Odakyuu
Line) ticket gate.

Course: Kitami Station → Kitami Playground Area (Lunch) → Walk along the Nogawa River → Jidayubori Park’s Old Farm House Garden →  Okamoto Park’s Old Farm House Garden → Tama River (We’ll eat, drink, play frisbee and hang out on the riverbank, people who want to leave may go to nearby FutagoTamagawa Station) → Todoroki Gorge → Todoroki Station

Walking distance: About 10 km (about 4 hours)

Please bring lunch and drinks.
