Tamagawa-Josui Promenade Walk

It’s a freshwater canal running from Hamura, western Tokyo to Yotsuya Okido. Let’s walk the side path in the heart of the city then have a panoramic view from a free observation deck at a high-rise.

☆Meeting Time/Place: 14:30 JR Sobu Line Sendagaya Station Ticket Gate

☆Course: Sendagaya Station – Yotsuya Okido Mark – Tokyu Kabukicho Tower – H.I.S. Hawaii Shinjuku – Shinjuku Station

☆Walking Time: About 1 hour (about 4km) plus a lot of time for sightseeing so the walk should take about 2 hours.

RIVER CLEAN UP
Gather at FUNABORI Station (Shinjuku Line) outside the only ticket gate, and then go to the Arakawa River and pick up trash along the banks for about about 3 5 to 4 hours with a break in the middle

WHAT TO BRING
Wear old clothing that you do not mind getting dirty, and please wear long pants. Bare legs are not recommended because they can easily get cut from objects like cut river reeds. Also, a hat is recommended, especially during the summer months, and please bring lots of liquids to drink. Bringing gloves is also recommended but we usually have some extra pairs available to loan out.

ADDITIONAL INFO:
If you come late, it will be about a 25 min. walk to our location on the island under the elevated C2 highway between the Kasaibashi Bridge iand the Shinjuku Line train bridge but much closer to the Shinjjuk Line Bridge. Call James at 090-1847-5075 if there are any problems finding us.

RAIN:
In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled. Please bring rain gear and we will take shelter (under a bridge) until any downpours let up. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds (e.g., typhoon conditions) or lightning then the event will be cancelled (and usually moved to a different day).

Wolf Moon Walk

Moonlight is always a source of wonder, and let’s celebrate it by taking a full moon walk in town. Explore the land by the light of the full moon and enjoy a nighttime experience together.

Meeting Time/Place:  18:15 JR Hamamatsucho Station South Ticket Gate

Course:  Hamamatsucho Station –  Tokyo Ai Land (regional shop) – Caretta Shiodome – Old Shimbashi Station Railway History Exhibition – Shimbashi Station

Meeting place and time: At the ticket gate of Kawai Station (on the JR Oume Line) at 10:25 am

Train: The trains are running infrequently and we will be unable to wait for the next train and attend to latecomers. Please be sure to arrive by the appointed meeting time.

From Oume, take the 9:50 train  going towards Okutama.  This train arrives at Kawai Station at 10:23.

Course: Kawai Station – Mt. Zumado – Kori Station – River/Road Walk – Hatonosu Station (About 3.5 hours)

Please bring your lunch and drinks.

Odakyuu Line Hiking & New Year Hot Springs!

(Intermediate Course) (Participation Fee 1000 Yen, Cancelled in case of rain)

Meeting place and time: At the ticket gate of Shin Matsuda Station on the Odakyuu Line at 9:30 am

Train: Since we are taking a bus at 9:40 am, we won’t be able to next train and attend to latecomers.  Please make sure to arrive at the appointed time.

From Sagami-Oono, take the 8:44 Odakyu express towards Odawara.  Get off at Shin-Matsuda (arriving at 9:29).

Course:  Shin-Matsuda Station (Odakyu Line) – Yadorigi Bus Stop (by bus – 590 yen – 30 minutes) – Kuri no Ki Doh (908m) – Mizuhi Great Falls – Black Dragon’s Falls – Shijuu-hasse-gawa River – Yukaraku Hot Springs – Shibusawa Station

The hiking time itself is about 5.5 hours.

Please bring your lunch and drink.

After the hike, for those who want to go to onsen, we will stop by the hot springs: Yukaraku hotsprings  (¥1000)

Mt. Kuroyama 3 Waterfall Hiking

(Participation Fee 1000 yen)(Intermediate Course but long) (Cancelled in case of rain)

Meeting Time & Place: 9:20 am at Agano’s ticket gate

Train: The train is not running frequently.  Since this time the hike will be long (we will start on time), we cannot accommodate late arrivals and will not be able to wait for the next train, so please make sure to arrive by the specified time.

For those going from Ikebukuro, take the following train: Ikebukuro Departure – Seibu Ikebukuro (Express) Line’s 7:54 train (going towards Hanno), Hanno Arrival – 8:49, Hanno Departure (Seibu Chichibu Line going towards Mitsumineguchi) – 8:56, Agano Station Arrival – 9:17.

Course (from Agano Station): Kaburi Pass – Kasasugi Pass – Kuroyama Santaki –  Ogose Station (on the Tobu Tojo Line)

Walking Time: About 6 hours

Note: Kuroyama Santaki was once a training center for monks who practice asceticism, but now it has become a sightseeing spot for hikers.

Please wear appropriate shoes (tennis shoes, hiking boots), bring a lunch to eat on the mountain, and plenty of liquids.

Gather at Myoden Station (Tozai Line) outside the only ticket gate,
and
then go to the Edogawa River and pick up trash along the banks for
about 3.5 to 4 hours

INFO

If you come late, it will be about a 25-min walk to our location
behind
 Clean Center (incineration plant) and the Clean Spa. First walk
to the
Myoden Bridge, cross it, and enter the riverside path on the
embankment.
Then head in the direction of Tokyo Bay until you see us
along the water
line. Also call James (the organizer) cell phone
090-1847-5075 if there
 are any problems finding us.

RAIN

In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be
cancelled
as we will move to and from the river by car and we can clean
up under
 cover the bay front bridges as a Plan B as well as adjacent
areas using
 rain ware. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds (e.g.,
typhoon
 conditions) or lightning then the event will be cancelled.
