Gotemba Line Plum Blossom Hiking

Meeting Place: The ticket gate of Kouzu Station on the Tokaido Line at 10:23 am

Please be on time since we won’t be able to attend to latecomers.

Train: If you are coming from Yokohama, take the 9:36 Tokaido Line train (going towards Odawara) to Kouzu Station, arriving at 10:21.

Course: JR Tokaido Line Kouzu Station – Gokoku Pass Agricultural Path – Ropponmatsu pine trees remains – Soga Plum Blossom Park – JR Gotemba Line Shimo Soga Station

Duration of a hike:  About 4 hours.

From the hiking course, there should be good views of Mt. Fuji if the weather permits and you will see 35,000 plum trees at Soga Plum park festival where we will finish the hike and you can enjoy free time. It is 15 minutes on foot from there to JR Shimo Soga Station.

Please bring lunch and drinks.

RIVER CLEAN UP
Gather at FUNABORI Station (Shinjuku Line) outside the ticket gate
at
13:00, and then go to the Arakawa River and pick up trash along the
river bank for about about 3.5 to 4 hours.

ADDITIONAL INFO
If you come late, it will be about a 25-min walk to our location
between the Shinjuku Line train bridge and the Kasaibashi Bridge. Also

 problems finding us.

RAIN
In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be
cancelled.
Please bring rain gear and we will take shelter (under a
bridge) until
 any downpours let up. In the event of heavy rain/strong
winds

Sagamiko Lake area Hiking

Meeting place and time: 9:27 am at the ticket gate of Sagamiko Station (on the Chuou Line)

Train Schedule: Make sure to arrive on time as we cannot wait for the next train.  Trains are not running frequently so we won’t be able to attend to latecomers.

Takao Departure (Chuo Line towards Kofu) – 9:17  Sagamiko Arrival – 9:25

Course: Sagamiko Station – Mt. Arashi (406m) – Mt. Sekirou (703m) – Sagami Lake Pleasure forest (where we finish a hike and take a bus to the station) – Sagamiko Station

The hiking course time will be about 6 hours.

Bring your own beverages and lunch. Please put on the shoes appropriate for a hike.

At the end of the hike, we arrive at “Pleasure Forest,” where there is a spectacular illumination of lights. This is not part of the hike’s program, but if you want to go, tickets are 2000 yen for adults.

Explore the largest Chinatown in Asia. The area provides a wide variety of authentic Chinese food, and attracts many tourists and locals everyday.

RIVER CLEAN UP
Gather at Myoden Station (Tozai Line) outside the only ticket gate, and
then go to the Edogawa River and pick up trash along the banks for about 3.5 to 4 hours.

If you come late, it will be about a 25-min walk to our location behind 
Clean Center (incineration plant) and the Clean Spa. First walk to the 
Myoden Bridge, cross it, and enter the riverside path on the embankment.
Then head in the direction of Tokyo Bay until you see us along the water
line. Also call James (the organizer) cell phone 090-1847-5075 if there 
are any problems finding us.

RAIN
In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled
 as we will move to and from the river by car and we can clean up under
 cover the bay front bridges as a Plan B as well as adjacent areas. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds (e.g., typhoon 
conditions) or lightning then the event will be cancelled.

Train: Please come to the meeting place by the appointed time since the train is not running often and we won’t be able to attend to latecomers.

9:50 Depart Oume station (Oume Line train going towards Okutama) – 10:27 Arrive at Kori

Course: Kori Station – Oonara Pass – Mitsukama Waterfalls  – Okutama Station

The walking time will be about 5 hours.

Bring your own beverages and lunch and wear proper hiking shoes.

If you want to go to the hot springs near Okutama Station, please bring a change of clothes and a towel.

 

2) Arakawa River Clean Up

Environmental Restoration Project with FOE

Meeting Place and time: 9:47 am at Utsugidai Bus Stop
Those who wish to go with David, please meet at Hino Station (on the Chuo Line) ticket gate at 9:27.  We will take the 9:32 bus from there (15
minutes).

Work hours: 10:00 – 15:30
 (Cutting down old trees, carrying logs, chopping wood)

Please wear long pants and long-sleeved shirt and exercise shoes. Please bring your own drinks, food (for lunch) and work gloves.

Tamagawa-Josui Promenade Walk

It’s a freshwater canal running from Hamura, western Tokyo to Yotsuya Okido. Let’s walk the side path in the heart of the city then have a panoramic view from a free observation deck at a high-rise.

☆Meeting Time/Place: 14:30 JR Sobu Line Sendagaya Station Ticket Gate

☆Course: Sendagaya Station – Yotsuya Okido Mark – Tokyu Kabukicho Tower – H.I.S. Hawaii Shinjuku – Shinjuku Station

☆Walking Time: About 1 hour (about 4km) plus a lot of time for sightseeing so the walk should take about 2 hours.

WHAT TO BRING
Wear old clothing that you do not mind getting dirty, and please wear long pants. Bare legs are not recommended because they can easily get cut from objects like cut river reeds. Also, a hat is recommended, especially during the summer months, and please bring lots of liquids to drink. Bringing gloves is also recommended but we usually have some extra pairs available to loan out.

ADDITIONAL INFO:
If you come late, it will be about a 25 min. walk to our location on the island under the elevated C2 highway between the Kasaibashi Bridge iand the Shinjuku Line train bridge but much closer to the Shinjjuk Line Bridge. Call James at 090-1847-5075 if there are any problems finding us.
