1) Chichibu Hiking & Icicles of Ashigakubo

On this hike, please make sure to wear appropriate hiking shoes (not tennis shoes or sneakers which has the flat bottom). There is a higher chance that the ground might be frozen (due to the cold weather coming in this week). I appreciate for your understanding for safety reasons.

(Participation Fee 1000 yen + 400 yen for Icicles of Ashigakubo)(Intermediate Course) (Cancelled in case of rain)

Meeting Place/Time:  Ashigakubo Station ticket gate at 10:30 am

Train: Trains are running infrequently and we can’t wait for the next train.  Please come to the meeting place on time since we won’t be able to attend to latecomers.

From Ikebukuro, take the Seibu Ikebukuro (Express) Line’s 8:50  train and get off at Hanno Station, arriving there at 9:37 . Change to the Seibu Chichibu Line (across the platform), taking the 9:43 local train.  This arrives at Ashigakubo at 10:27.

Course:  Ashigakubo Station – Oono Pass – Mt. Maruyama (960m) – Icicles of Ashigakubo  – Ashigakubo Station (Walking time: About 5 hours)

Please wear appropriate shoes for a hike and bring a lunch to eat on the mountain, and plenty of liquids.

 

2) Tamagawa River Clean Up

Gather at Daishibashi Station: 13:00
River Clean Up: 13:30-16:30
Relaxing riverside: 16:30-17:00
 Return to station.

RIVER CLEAN UP: Gather at DAISHIBASHI Station (Keikyudashi Line) outside the only ticket gate at 13:00, and then go to the Tamagawa River and pick up trash along the banks for about about 3-3.5 hours with a break in the middle.

ADDITIONAL INFO: 
If you come late, it will be about a 25-min walk to our location the river which may vary month by month. Call James’ (the organizer) cell phone 090-1847-5075 if there are any problems finding us.

RAIN:
 In the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled. Please bring rain gear and we will take shelter (under a bridge) until any downpours let up. In the event of heavy rain/strong winds (e.g., typhoon conditions) or lightning then the event will be cancelled (and usually moved to a different day).
