This month’s donations go to Arakawa Clean Aid, a group which carry out activities to clean up Tokyo’s Arakawa river.
JAMBO contributed ¥30,000 to Ashinaga (Support for Tohoku Orphans) (www.ashinaga.org/en/). Many children and adolescents were hit hard by the recent earthquake and tsunami. Ashinaga provides them with the care that they need.

JAMBO contributed $500 (¥60,230) to Tikondane (ZAMBIA) . This is a place educating nurses and teaching literacy. There are also various income generating activities such as the garden and skill training initiatives, as well as important community development work. Tikondane is a gem for the tourist interested in finding the real Africa.

JAMBO contributed $US1000 (about ¥120,000) to Global Greengrants Fund – a group that provides grants for local environmental work in Africa, Asia and other poor areas (http://www.greengrants.org/). This donation is matched, so it becomes $2000.

JAMBO contributed 10,000 yen to KIDS NPO. KIDS (Knowing Is Doing Something) NPO was established in 1992 when it became apparent to volunteer workers that orphans in Japan are secluded from society. KIDS concentrates on connecting children isolated from society with various people interested in volunteering. Students from orphanages around the Kanto Plain learn English for three months including two field trips where they have direct interaction with foreigners. The students are able to build their confidence, gain new perspectives on life, illustrate future goal, and have fun doing it.
