Beauty appreciation is the result of a habitual way of thinking “light” as often as possible. Find something for which you can feel gratitude rather than resentment. When this becomes your habit, you will automatically being this sense of beauty appreciation to all life circumstances.

Do not pretend or fake happiness when darkness is present. Instead, cultivate an internal sense of awe about yourself and your place in the world. Send out white light and bathe others in it. (p.237-238)

Give outside into the light when thoughts of darkness overtake you. Whenever you find yourself thinking morbid thoughts it is imperative that you physically get up and let in some light. Letting in the light literally allows you to erase the dark thoughts.
