He took his place on the bench and the case opened. A man was charged with horse stealing. The case for the prosecution was made; the plaintiff and his witnesses were duly heard.<\/p>\n
Whereupon the attorney for the defendant stood up and said, “And now, Your Honor, I should like to present my client’s side of the case.”<\/p>\n
Said the judge, “Sit down. That won’t be necessary. It would only confuse the jury!”<\/p>\n
