Current Groups which JAMBO Sponsors

Whether you know it or not, by participating in JAMBO programs, you’ve become an active participant in changing the world for the better through your donation. Here’s a list of groups JAMBO financially supports (internationally) and/or helps out through volunteer activities (in Japan).

INTERNATIONAL

Abalimi Bezekhaya – This is an organization working with development and environmental restoration in Cape Flats. Cape Flats is an impoverished area outside Cape Town which was partitioned as a “Black” residential area under the apartheid regime. Due to poor management, overcrowding, and the unjust policies of the apartheid era, Cape Flats became environmentally devastated. Abalimi Bezekhaya is working to “re-green” the area by promoting gardening and tree planting efforts.

African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) – A group in Africa that works to protect the environment while, at the same time, promoting the development of the local people

Ashoka – A global organization which finds and supports social entrepreneurs, outstanding individuals with ideas for far-reaching social change

Global Giving – A crowdfunding organization which supports local initiatives worldwide working to make our world a better place

Global Greengrants Fund – A group that provides grants for local environmental work in Africa, Asia and other poor areas

Green Belt Movement – An organization in Kenya which works with reforestation and community development

Institute for Transportation & Development Policy – An organization that supports sustainable transport around the world, especially in developing countries

Plant with Purpose – Environmental Solutions to Humanitarian Problems

Save the Children – A group which helps children in poverty and in crisis around the world. JAMBO sponsors two children (one from the Philippines and one from Malawi in Central Africa) through this wonderful organization

Tikondane (ZAMBIA) – This is a place educating nurses and teaching literacy.  There are also various income generating activities such as the garden and  skill training initiatives, as well as important community development work. Tikondane is a gem for the tourist interested in finding the real Africa

World Wildlife Fund – An international organization working to preserve the world’s most precious natural resources, especially endangered animals

JAPAN

Arakawa Clean Aid – Picking up garbage on the Arakawa River

Ashinaga – Educational and emotional support for orphans worldwide

Friends of the Earth Japan

Japan Environmental Action Network – Pass on Beautiful and Healthy Oceans to our Children

Kanagawa Coastal Environmental Foundation  – carries out activities to clean up Japan’s oceans and rivers

Riasunomori – An organization in Ishinomaki which works for community development

SHU – The Environment NPO “Trees and Environment Network Association” has a project called “TAMAZO.” “TAMAZO” manages and protects the forest around the TAMA ZOO.
